'For this ye know,
that no whoremonger,
nor unclean person,
nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance
in the kingdom of Christ and of God.'

(Eph 5:5)

Hello there,

I find the very title of a thread which challenges the deity of Christ highly offensive. So, though there are several devoted to this subject, I did not want to enter my small offering in any of them.

Today, while looking up a verse in the book, 'Figures of Speech Used in The Bible', I saw what is said there in relation to Ephesians 5:5 (quoted above). In it is a figure of speech called 'hendiadys', where two words are used by only one thing meant: and in this verse, the highlighted words should be read as follows:- 'the kingdom of Christ, yes, of Christ Who is truly God.'

Praise God!

Scripture teaches that the kingdom also belongs to the saints of God. Jesus and the other saints will be jointly possessing their kingdom and serving God while they do it. Thank you for opening this topic so we can add more Scripture to clarify that the kingdom of God doesn't only belong to God, but also Jesus and the other saints.

So the saints who possess the kingdom of God and wield sovereignty/dominion over it are not God. Therefore Jesus is also not God.

Daniel 7
18But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and possess it forever—yes, forever and ever.’
22until the Ancient of Days arrived and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for them to possess the kingdom.
27Then the sovereignty, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey Him.’

Great, also consider this..... is not the Kingdom of Christ/God the Holy Spirit? Luke 17:20 "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:" Luke 17:21 "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Romans 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

Hello @101G,

The Lord was responding to a question asked by the Pharisees, who did not have the Holy Spirit within them.

The word, 'within' (Gr. entos), means 'in the midst of, or, among': (i.e. already there in the Person of the King - Whose presence marks a kingdom). Greek 'entos', the same meaning as Greek. 'en' (App-104.), with the plural rendered "among" 115 times in N.T. The same meaning as in Mat.12:28 & Joh.1:26. (Bible marginal notes).

The Lord Jesus Christ, their King, was there in the midst of them, and they knew it not. The Kingdom was present, because the King was, yet they did not see it.

Thank you

brilliant Watson, for the POWER of the Kingdom was only in Christ, while in flesh and blood, (Acts 10:38 "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.") but upon his resurrection, now the KINGDOM can be in all. of us supportive scripture, Acts 1:4 "And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me." Acts 1:5 "For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence." Acts 1:6 "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" Acts 1:7 "And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

NOW, THE POWER, Acts 2:1 "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." Acts 2:2 "And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." Acts 2:3 "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them." Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Romans 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

'For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink;
but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God,
and approved of men.'

(Rom 14:16-18)

Hello Sherlock,

The Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, for these functions are performed by the flesh, and are common to all men, regardless of whether they are saved by God's grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ or not. Righteousness, peace and joy are the fruits of the Spirit, and are characteristic of those who 'serve Christ' and are therefore 'acceptable to God' and inherit the Kingdom of God.

'And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance:
for ye serve the Lord Christ.
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done:
and there is no respect of persons.'

(Col 3:23-25)

'That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,
being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power,
unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Giving thanks unto the Father,
which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:

In Whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:'

(Col 1:10-14)

Praise God!

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
