1-Where does Jesus say He chose not to function as God ?

Matthew 4:3-4 tells us that he chose not to function as God.

A little Greek lesson is needed. The Greeks being great debaters developed special ways of saying things for debating.

I hope that does not offend anyone here, but this knowledge is needed to understand what was really taking place between Satan and the Lord.

Matthew 4:3-4

The tempter came to him and said, “If (1st class condition) you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”​

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”​

The First class condition of the word "if" in the Greek should read as follows....

“If you are the Son of God, and you are, tell these stones to become bread.”

Satan knew exactly who Jesus was. He knew Jesus was God. He was not mocking Jesus the man in the sense that Jesus could not do what Satan told him to do. Satan wanted just the opposite to happen.

What Satan wanted to gain in temping Jesus with turning stones into bread?
(It would never have been a temptation for Jesus to turn the stones into bread if he were only a man alone).
You can only tempt someone who has the power of God to turn stones into bread.

What was Satan onto concerning Jesus turning stones into bread?

To get Jesus resume His rightful power to be God and to turn the stones into bread!

Why?

So Jesus would stop being as a man.

And that would have disqualified him to die in the place of all men as a man.

Certainly Satan knew Jesus was really God..
For even low class demons recognized who and what Jesus is!

"Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out,
“You are the Son of God.” But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him." Mark 3:11-12

Jesus chose not to function as God in Matthew 4:4.​

I would ask how it was determined to call Jesus any of those labels.

But, as He is now, after His glorification?

Jesus is now God being expressed by means of the expression of his humanity.
With no holds barred. If Jesus wants something done?

He no longer must pray to that Father like he had done on earth as man.
He now just thinks it.
And, its done.

For at present the Father has handed all power to be God over to the Son.
To be God over all creation until He has made all his enemies into his footstool.

Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet." 1 Corinthians 15:24-25​

How do you fit that into one of your over simplified little slots you want me to put Jesus in?

Jesus is a God Person.
To say otherwise is Nestorianism.
That's why He cannot die spiritually as you claim.
That is blasphemy.
Nevertheless, he humbled himself to the level of a servant and took on our sins at the Cross.
After his Baptism, the Holy Spirit was always with him, never forsaking him.
With his anointing, he became our Exemplar.
He displayed his Divinity at the Transfiguration.
He nailed our sins to the Cross.
He crippled death in Hades.
He poured out the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
He took in human nature into the very abode of the Father at his Ascension.
Everything in heaven and Earth is under Jesus' command.
Etc......

I would highly advise that you refrain from further Nestorianism.

That speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ during the Millennium. The Jews were waiting for God to set up his kingdom on earth.
The Lord God of Israel is God having also a Soul! Humanity is expressed through the Son.

People would just disappear with no reason given, if God did not express His intent by means of having a Soul that man can relate to.

If the Son of God had no Soul as his second nature things around us would happen without man being able to make sense of it.
The Son is God talking to us on our level in a manner we are able to relate to.

Jesus is God's human interpretation of God for humans to be made able to relate to God in a way man will understand.

Jesus by means of being both fully God and fully soul/human is able to perfectly exegete the Father to us.
God without having His Soul communicating to us would be incomprehensible and not able to be perceived.




Back in the 90's an excellent pastor who was always studying from the Greek and Hebrew taught me something unusual about John 1:18.
John uses a Greek word that is commanded of good pastors to be exegeting the Scriptures.

Later I found what he was saying to me when reading the Amplified Bible translation.

The following are two renderings of Joihn1:18.

First one is taken from a typical mainstream English translation.
The second is what the Greek emphasis is citing found the Amplified Bible.

I didn’t realize all the creeds of Christendom are a joke and to be laughed at regarding the Trinity and 2 natures in Christ. Also Jesus Person is Divine otherwise the Incarnation is a false doctrine
