Sorry I'm late on this, but "have to go"? Like just permanently leave to deal with spitting milk? Not just "step outside"? That seems really strange.

I'm sure they didn't intend to be rude, but that definitely is rude because the matter was so small.

Families get their own "quirks" for sure. It's hard to point them out without people getting offended. Maybe a test of true friendship.
 
The 9 yo is a white female 80 lb American bull dog. She gives incessant kisses.

The 7 yo is a black female Australian sheep dog & chow mix who weighs 55 lbs. She is a hugger (leans on you)

Both are big time lap dogs. My wife takes one and I take the other every night cuddling.
bull dogs and pit bulls are my favorite canines.
