God is big on biological covenant with Abram and his seed:

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. Genesis 17:7.

When Isaac died without seeing the Abrahamic Promises fulfilled in his lifetime, the Abrahamic Promises passed to Jacob. When Jacob died not seeing the fulfillment of God's Promises the inheritance passed to Jacob's children, and on and on until we come to today.
