Tensions in Calvin’s Idea of Predestination

The elect are those in Christ.

Unbelievers, however, are not in Christ.
Elect unbelievers are in Christ and have never been under Gods wrath for sin. Even as unbelievers the elect are part of His Body of which He is Head and is Saviour Eph 5 23

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

How can you be part of His Body that needed saved and not be in the body of His

Sorry, but that is unbiblical, as unbelievers are not in the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12–13 (KJV 1900) — 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Unbelievers have not been baptized by the Spirit and have not drunk of him.

Yes they are if Elect
Nope

One must have the Spirit to belong to Christ

Romans 8:9 (LEB) — 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

Unbelievers, therefore, not having the Spirit, do not belong to Christ.

That is, they are not in Christ.

Yes it’s as simple as that to understand.

Amazing how some will twist scripture into a pretzel 🥨 lol.

Yes they are, that's why they shall believe, in fact unless all the elect have been converted and the second coming is imminent, their are people now if elect, seated with Christ in the heavenlies, and haven't yet been born of adams corrupt seed yet.
Nope

Once again

One must have the Spirit to belong to Christ

You ignored scripture

This is true but in a relative sense and not absolutely. The elect were in Christ B4 the foundation of the world.

Sorry, but nowhere do we read of anyone in Christ before the foundation of the world.
Sure some of us do, In Eph 1:4, a Chosen seed was chosen in Him, just as a people were chosen in Adam in the beginning. So in Adam all die, likewise in Christ all shall be made alive. 1 Cor 15 22

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Do you deny as well all men were in Adam in the beginning at creation ?

Um the verse comes nowhere close to saying they were in Christ while being in a state of unbelief

Ephesians 1:4–5 (KJV 1900) — 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Rather, it indicates that God chose that those in Christ should be holy and without blame, predestined to adoption

People who did not even exist, let alone believe upon Christ, are not in Christ.

They could hardly be a new creation

2 Cor 5:17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

One must first be regenerated before one is in Christ.

Yes they were. Was levi in Abraham ad payed tithes b4 he existed according to Heb 7:9-10

9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

But Levi still had to pay his own tithes. His biological tissue traces back into Abraham but he wasn't alive back then. Levi inherited Abraham's covenant environment. It didn't guarantee that his descendents or Levi would keep it.
