No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

Sorry you cannot be saved and unsaved at the same time

Acts 11:13–14 (LEB) — 13 And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter, 14 who will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’

Cornelius was not yet saved if he had to hear the words spoken by Peter by which he would be saved

There is simply no evidence Cornelius was born again - regenerated

Were that so, he would have been saved, but it is simply not true.

And anyone who has not been indwelled by the Spirit is not regenerate or born again.
Cornelius was a justified man that feared God B4 he ever met Peter Acts 10:1-4,22. Because he was a just man, he had to live by faith in the Gospel Rom 1:17

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith

Cornelius had Faith in God B4 he met Peter, the Gospel is sent to people of Faith so they can hear and believe.
