Need a reason to believe Calvinists are who they claim to be?

Amen. A net has been cast and many will get caught up in it. And where will it lead when they become so deceived to the point of worshipping the ANTICHRIST Satan? It will lead to the Great Apostasy of the end times, that’s where. Deception and lies are what we fight against in these days.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 (KJV) 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming: 9 [Even Him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

To the trenches my friend . Our hope is in the GLORIOUS LORD JESUS CHRIST .
Just ponder on the lovely home that awaits us at the end of our faith .
Praise be to the glorious LORD my friend .

To me, the title of this thread is unimportant; perhaps some folks need a reason to believe Jesus is who He claims to be.

I don’t know who wrote these lyrics below, but let’s just meditate on their clear message and bow our heads for a minute to say, “thank You, Jesus.”

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.

Just FYI.... We have no evidence that Jesus spoke English. None.

This is one of the reasons I find Calvinism very troubling. They claim they are enlightened without understanding the words of God.

They appeal to "take Him at His word" when they only way they can discern what Jesus said is to actually learn English. Thusly, just like you're required to understand what I'm writing, you must know English.

Which precludes any sense of enlightenment apart from mankind. Languages are constructed and maintained by men.

Thusly, the claims of enlightenment apart from the Gospel in English is absurd at "face value".

There is much irony to be found in all this "circular" reasoning Calvinists are using here.

Uh, ummm…. You’re mistaken about this. The Holy Spirit knows every single language that has ever existed!
… Jesus is a heart-knower!

No. I'm not mistaken. When Jesus spoke it was in a language that has been passed down to you through the medium of various historical languages.

When you read the words you claim that you can just "take at face value", they are not exactly what Jesus said. They were ultimately derived from what Jesus actually spoke.

You seem to think that when you read your bible of choice, that Jesus Himself is literally speaking to you.

Such is not the case. I know people want to believe this is true but it really isn't. Now, I'm not saying that English can't be used to relate God to you. I'm not saying that at all.

Just realize that what you're referencing doesn't happen. "Take Him at His word" is really.... "Take what others have said that Jesus said"

Which can be good and can be bad. So when you appeal to such things that are you're doing. You're actually establishing yourself as the sole authority of knowing God. You don't realize you're doing it but you are. Either you are trying to establish your authority or another's authority.

Now. I do believe I can go directly to Jesus and get an answer directly from Him. However, when I do, I discern it one of two ways. I can either feel it in my spirit or I can hear in my own voice that is tied to my understanding of various languages.

Which one do you personally prefer? There is a blend of these to be found but I'd prefer you explain your claim first.

What claim?
