So many genuine arguments can be made against Calvinism. This one hears strikes right at the heart of the matter and that is what someone of a good and noble character will do and what is that? He shows mercy to one in need! That's it. Period. Let's see what Jesus said,
“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Luke 10:30
So who did Jesus reveal had a right heart and way of thinking about mercy? The Samartian. He called him good. He had a universal way of thinking about mercy! Anyone who was in need qualified . Keep in mind this parable was brought forth to speak on the issue what it means to LOVE God with all of one's heart and to love one's neighbor as oneself. So for Jesus being God to portray this is the ultimate and the highest height of what LOVE is and this is the greatest and noblest way of being can we therefore except God is anything less?
For God to express this and not be this himself it would almost come across that God hasn't perfected the LOVE walk himself, and that he would kind of like to. This of course we cannot accept. God is the ultimate of what LOVE is so one can talk about all the sloppy Calvinistic theology one wants to....like misunderstood by them scriptures in Rom and Ephesians and others......but the rule of thumb or the plum line we can go by is to know and realize and NOT reject that God's mercy is to anyone who is in need of it.
The Good Samaritan is NOT more loving than God, forget that nonsense, therefore God wants to disperse and release his goodness and mercy to all. To have God the one who has and does ordain all evil is to have him in the place of the robber which beat up the innocent victim! Who else but Satan is the one who would want to put forth this role reversal and to sow it as seed into the hearts of men? There is a saying the world has......how stupid can one get? So that is the question we must ask ourselves . How unwise are we willing to be to buy into the work of the twister of the truth?
How much pain are we willing impart into the heart of God by even considering even for one moment that Jesus isn't interested in the saving of all men from death and I'm talking about spiritual death. We're not just talking about theology here folks! As long as you keep thinking this is just about theology and winning some discussion on the internet you can easily overlook the sadness and grief you're imparting and placing upon God . His heart and compassion is for MAN, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, not just a few or some lucky ones but for all to know salvation is for every single member of the human race! Point: God is the Good Samaritan in every sense of the word. Let us not be found denying it. God Bless!
