The doctrine of faith and salvation. Faith Basics 101

πίστις, (a) faith, belief, trust, generally of the leaning of the entire human personality (This would be mind, body, heart, yes?) upon God or the Messiah ( Who were ONE in Mind, body and heart. yes?) in absolute trust and confidence in His power, His wisdom, and His goodness.

This is a wonderful definition of Faith, and we have been given scores of examples of mortal humans who exhibited this Faith, written by the Inspiration of God or the Messiah, and given to any man who desires to know Him, written for our admonition, for our sakes no doubt, for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: From Abel, to Abraham, to David and Rehab, who risked the life of herself an her family, "in absolute trust and confidence in God and His power, His wisdom, and His goodness. And the greatest example of Faith in a Human every shown, is the works of the Messiah, showing "absolute trust and confidence in God and His power, His wisdom, and His goodness" from a child of 12 years old, to His Murder at 30 + years old. All these things that happened to them, happened for our admonition, "That the man of God may be perfect, (As God and the Messiah Commanded) throughly furnished unto all good works."

Not works of man's righteousness which they have done, or living by "Man's Works" promoted by this world's religious system, "who called Jesus Lord, Lord", but those who strive with all their heart, mind and body to "Yield themselves" unto God in absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness.

Truly this is the doctrine of Faith Basics 101.

The older meaning, intellectual conviction of certain truths, is often present. (In Eph. 1:15
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;

17 That "the God" of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of His wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know "what is the hope" of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Luke 18: 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

According to the Jesus of the Bible in Matt. 7:22, HE will find when HE returns, "MANY" who call Him Lord, Lord, but not "MANY" who submit themselves to the Faith Basics 101 as described above.

HE was specifically careful to warn men not to be deceived, not by atheists or pagans, but HE warned through the mouths of the Prophets, Himself and the Apostles over and over, not to be deceived by men "Who come in HIS Name, who "Profess to know God". In fact, the very first example of deception given to us by the Oracles of God, was from a voice who "professed to know God, and even quoted "SOME" of God's Word to deceive Eve.

It seems that if we trust HIM in absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness, we should take extra caution concerning the many religious sects that make up this world's religious system, and the doctrines and philosophies they promote.

[shorter text] εἰς = among); (b) with the article, the faith (in Lk. 18:8 perhaps the necessary faith or the faith that perseveres), the Christian faith, Ac. 6:7, 13:8, 16:5, 24:24, Gal. 1:23, 3:23, 6:10, Eph. 4:13, Jude 3, Jude 20, &c.; (c) as a psychological faculty, Heb. 11:1; (d) integrity, faithfulness, trustworthiness, loyalty, Mt. 23:23, Rom. 1:17 (?), Gal. 5:22, 2 Tim. 4:7; (e) a guarantee, Ac. 17:31.[1] Lexicon to the Greek New Testament.

1-You are not born with faith, it comes from hearing Gods word(Rom 10:17)

Civic, isn't a child "born with faith" in it's mother? And it doesn't even question it for years. When it's hungry, it reaches for mom, when it is tired, hurt, distressed, it goes to it's mother. It desires the company of it's mother in joy, happiness, fear or pain. It's born with the absolute trust and confidence in it's mother's power, wisdom, and goodness. Is this not even Nature defining for us the Faith Basics 101? I believe this is why Jesus said to "come to ME as little children".

It is true that we are not born with Faith in God. We must "submit ourselves" unto God, as Paul teaches, that we might come to know Him as we knew our mother.

Rom. 12:1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that "ye present" your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Isn't this what it means to be "born again"?

And by the Mercy and Grace of God, we are born with the "Faith" required. We just need to direct it towards God.

2-You cannot be saved without faith.(John 3:36)

This is true from birth. Without the blind Faith a child has for it's mother, given to him by God, it could not survive.

3-No peace with God without faith.(Rom 5:1)

The Peace God gives, is not the peace of this world. But this is true, without faith their is no God's Peace.

4-You are justified by faith(Gal 2:16)

Yes, we are justified "by absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness,"

Unless of course, we only hear His Instruction in righteousness, and do not Trust Him enough to be "Doers" of His Sayings. But then, if a person lived by absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness, they wouldn't be just "hearers only".

5-Christ dwells in our hearts by faith (Eph 3:17)

Yes, as it is written:

Eph. 2: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto "good works", which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (As Jesus walked in them) After all, it is written: "He that saith he abideth "in him" ought himself also so "to walk", even as "he walked".

This would be "Proof of ones faith", shown by their works, Yes?

6-The Spirit is received by faith (Gal 3:2)

This is true, as Peter declares to the promoters of the mainstream religious system of the world God placed him in, "who professed to know God".

Acts 5: 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to "obey God" rather than men. (Faith Basics 101)

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, (AKA, the Spirit of God) whom God hath given to them "that obey him".

The Galatians were not being "Bewitched" by men who were trying to convince men to "Walk even as Jesus Walked" or to "Live by Every Word of God" as Jesus taught. They had a Law they promoted, but it wasn't God's Law. It's important to remember that the Pharisees were still promoting a corrupted version of the Levitical Priesthood which required certain sacrificial "works of the Law" for remission of sins, "Added Till the SEED should come". The Spirit of Christ pointed these peoples religion out in Is. 1 and Romans 3, and Hebrews 7-10 speaks in detail what there "Works" were.

There are "many" who come in Christ's Name in this world's religious system who promote the falsehood that the Pharisees were trying to get the Galatians to "absolutely trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness,", but they were not. They were trying to get the Galatians to adopted their religious sects which full well rejected the Commandments of god that they might keep their own man-made traditions.

7- You become a child of God through faith ( John 1:12-13 )

Yes, through "absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness,".
Jesus said we are to "Live by" His Words defining these things.

8- You are sealed with the Holy Spirit after you believe the gospel ( Ephesians 1:13 )

Yes.

Eph. 1: 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame "before him" in love:
This can not be accomplished without "absolute trust and confidence in a His Power, His Wisdom, His goodness,". AKA, "Faith in God".

Great topic, important issue.

Good post. Thank you.

However I would point out that faith is a noun, and believe is a verb.

Faith must have believing (obedience) in order for faith to be activated.

It's important to remember that the Pharisees were still promoting a corrupted version of the Levitical Priesthood

The Levitical priesthood is no longer in power since the cross.

Any promotion of the Levitical priesthood is corrupt.

The priesthood has changed to the order of Melchizedek with Jesus Christ as the High Priest.

  • For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.

Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law. Hebrews 7:11-12

You do understand that the religion of Judaism is an antichrist religion that denies Jesus as the Messiah?

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22

God never gave the children of Israel the religion of Judaism, He gave them the law that was added to the Abrahamic Covenant until the Seed should come.

Yes, that is what my post said. The Pharisees were still promoting their corrupted version of the Priesthood Covenant with Levi, (Mal. 2) AKA, Levitical Priesthood.

The deceiver preaches that the Pharisees were trying to get the Galatians for follow God's Laws. This is a lie.

You do understand that the religion of Judaism is an antichrist religion that denies Jesus as the Messiah?

What is a Judaizer? Was Jesus, Caleb, David, Zacharias, Simeon, Anna a Judaizer? Or were the Pharisees Judaizers?
Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22

Did Zacharias, Simeon or Anna deny that Jesus was the Christ? Luke 1:5&6, Luke 2:25,26, Luke 2:36-38?

God never gave the children of Israel the religion of Judaism,

This is true. What is your point?

He gave them the law that was added to the Abrahamic Covenant until the Seed should come.

The Levitical Priesthood was ADDED because of Transgressions, Till the Seed should come.

The Christ of the Bible said that Abraham, "obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Abraham wasn't under the Levitical Priesthood, as Levi wasn't even born until centuries after Abraham died.

And God didn't "ADD" the Covenant of Levi, requiring a person to take a goat to a Levite Priest for the remission of Sins until Mt. Sinai. At least this is what the Spirit of the Christ "of the bible" teaches.

Jer. 7: 21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.

22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

That's the same thing HE told Abraham. So what happened?

24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

This means "They Transgressed". You can read about this in Ex. 32. Notice who gather around Moses when HE said "whose on the Lords Side".

The Law concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices for sins was "ADDED" because of Transgressions. And they were temporary from their conception as Moses Speaks about another Priest, "Like him" that was to come. (Duet. 18) This Levitical Priesthood was supposed to be in effect "Till the Prophesied Priest after the order of Melchizedek" should come.

If you hadn't omitted the rest of the Hebrews Author's Words concerning exactly "WHAT" Law changed by necessity, you would know this.
