Thanks, see we can learn something new every day.
Yes,
demons do know the gospel, particularly regarding Jesus Christ.
- In Mark 3:11, demons explicitly acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, indicating their recognition of His identity.
- Jesus commanded demons to remain silent about His identity, suggesting they knew He was the Christ.
- When demons encountered Jesus, they often identified Him as the Son of God, further demonstrating their understanding of the gospel.
- Overall, demons are aware of the gospel message and often mislead others by identifying Jesus as the Son of God.
Absolutely,
This was shown to us from the very beginning of the Gospel of Christ. Eve was also placed into a world in which demons existed. I believe God showed His people this in the very beginning that we might hear and understand how the devil, the prince of this world, deceives people, so we are armed to resist it. Personally I have learned a lot about this world from the first few chapters of the Gospel.
First, the devil is a spirit that "professes to know God". "Hath God said?" In the very beginning, I think it can be said that the demon "Transforms itself" into a Prophet of God, in the same way Paul teaches that men they posses transform themselves into, "Apostles of Christ". It also uses, or more accurately "quotes" SOME of God's Word to deceive people.
"
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"
And if I go back and hear God's Word, here is SOME of what He said.
Gen. 2:
16 And the LORD God "commanded the man", saying, Of "every tree of the garden" thou mayest freely eat:
If a man didn't read or hear the exchange for himself, he could easily look at this one verse and make the case this false teacher was making. This is confirmed over and over in the Scriptures.
Jer. 50:
6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
But Eve did hear all of God's Message, and the warning about eating and dying if she ate, so why did she still "freely eat"?
Here is also what this self proclaimed prophet of God said to Eve.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 "For God doth know" that in the day ye eat thereof, (Transgress the Commandment) then your eyes shall be opened, and (then) ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
So the foundation of the prince of this worlds religious philosophy, is that as long as mankind believe and obey God's Laws, Judgments and Commandments, he will remain blind and ignorant because God's Laws are against them. Only by listening to voices other than God's, can you break the "Yoke" of blindness and ignorance God's Laws bring to those who trust Him.
This is the religious philosophy of the prince of this world, promoted by it's many self proclaimed "Ministers of Righteousness", "In Christ's Name".
Throughout the entire Holy Scriptures, mankind is given the same choice Eve was given, and chose to harken to the "other voice", accept for ONE. And because God is Merciful, HE gives mankind a chance to "choose" again, accepting the offering of His Son's Life, for the death our refusal to Glorify God "as God" brought us. Only this time, we are instructed to choose to believe God, and let His Words, not our own, or other voices in the world God placed us in, guide our footsteps. Not just a sentence here or there, but as the Jesus "of the bible" teaches, "Every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God". Ezekiel calls this change of heart, "
and make you a new heart and a new spirit", Paul calls it, "
be renewed in the spirit of your mind",
And that ye put on "the new man", which after God (this time) is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Abraham did this, and it was called "Faith", the Faith Jesus had that enabled Him to overcome the wiles of the Devil.
Your post is right on. When asked about the end times in Matt. 24, Jesus could have warned about Islam, or Atheists, or satanists etc. But HE didn't. He warned about men who "Come in His Name", who teach that HE, Jesus is Truly the Christ, and He warns that these men with deceive "many".
Great post Neil. Spot on.
