Hebrew families. It says, "in YOU" meaning his seed, which is the identity of the families that are blessed.The Promise -
Now the LORD had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:1-3
God repeats this here also:
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Gen. 17:4.
Gentiles do not come from the loins or seed of Abraham. Abraham married his half-sister, meaning Sarah was born of the family of Eber. She was also Hebrew (Gen. 14:13.) And two Hebrew parents cannot give birth to a non-Hebrew child - Isaac.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. [meaning Hebrew seed.]
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee
Ge 17:6–7.
The context is Hebrew families and Hebrew seed. There are no non-Hebrew Gentiles named or mentioned as being included in the Abraham Covenant. None.
Cornelius was a mixed heritage Hebrew. [racist] Jews called mixed heritage Hebrews of the two southern kingdom tribes "Gentile" with the same attitude Jews called mixed heritage Hebrews of the ten northern kingdom tribes "Samaritan."The Promise on the day of Pentecost -
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. Acts 10:44-48
From the time of the Assyrian Conquest (722 BC) until Jesus was about 29-35 generations who grew up in Gentile lands heavily influenced by Greek/Assyrian/Babylonian culture. Many Jews assimilated. Then, the Babylonians conquered the two southern kingdom tribes. Many assimilated. There was a great deal of intermingling with the Gentiles and learning their ways which is one reason why only a remnant (5% of total) mostly from the tribes of Judah and Benjamin returned to Israel. Mixed heritage Hebrews saw themselves as "Gentile" and so did the more "purist" Jews that returned to Israel. Jews had attitude towards mixed heritage Hebrews of the ten northern kingdom tribes who mingled with Gentiles and called them "Samaritan" and not "Jew." They spoke, acted like Gentiles. Most males were not even circumcised. But when mixed heritage Hebrews like Cornelius became born again some Jews wanted to circumcise them which led to the Jerusalem Council in AD 50 (Acts 15) to address the issue. Instead, the apostles and elders told them to obey four aspects of the Law of Moses.
First, no religious leader or Judaizer would ever try to circumcise any non-Hebrew Gentile. It just was never done. Such a person would be attacked or excommunicated. It would surely cause a stir. So, why isn't there anything about this written down? It would have cause an uproar whenever and wherever any Jew or religious leader tried to practice circumcising a non-Hebrew Gentile, and why is this?
Because Jews ALL KNEW the Abraham Covenant is with Abraham and HIS SEED - NOT with non-Hebrew Gentiles. No matter the dilution of DNA through rape, fornication, adultery, conquest, concubinage, or slavery and marriage, the promises is to Abraham and his seed and as long as one is the seed of Abraham, they are heirs according to the promise. Jesus never went to Gentiles to teach or heal them. God has NO COVENANT with non-Hebrew Gentiles. NONE.
Another thing is that God's Spirit was promised to Israel (Joel.) And one needs the Holy Spirit to be born again and saved. God is not a liar. He's not going to promise covenant with Abraham and his Hebrew seed, nor will He promise His Spirit to Israel and then later all of a sudden so-called "Gentiles" are miraculously in the Abraham Covenant - jumping over the Mosaic Covenant - and all of a sudden non-Hebrew Gentiles are receiving the Spirit of God with no promise they would. Nope. Those so-called "Gentiles" are of mixed heritage Hebrew stock and of the thirteen tribes of Israel. God promised nothing in the Bible to non-Hebrew Gentiles. None.
The New Covenant is only the Mosaic Covenant fulfilled by Jesus Christ. If there is anything in the New Covenant there must be type and shadow in the Old Testament. Saul would know this. He was a rabbi and Pharisee, and he remained obedient to the Law of Moses as a Christ follower. Cornelius was mixed heritage. James, Peter, John, even the other apostles were Judaizers. They maintained obedience to the Law of Moses and there would be hell to pay if any of them tried to circumcise any non-Hebrew Gentile or instruct them to obedience to the Law of Moses. The Covenant is with the Hebrew people through Jacob/Israel. (and Joseph.)Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”
When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”
Acts 11:16-18
And Christ will bring forth justice - not mercy - to Gentiles if these Gentiles are non-Hebrew.The Promise Prophesied to Gentiles -
Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them
Revelation 20:7–9.
Being a "light" and being IN COVENANT are two different things if these are non-Hebrew Gentiles. The Abraham Covenant says NOTHING about non-Hebrew Gentiles being in this covenant. See for yourself - Genesis 12, 15, and 17.He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth.
He will not fail nor be discouraged,
Till He has established justice in the earth;
And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
Thus says God the LORD,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it,
Who gives breath to the people on it,
And spirit to those who walk on it:
“I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness,
And will hold Your hand;
I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the Gentiles,
Isaiah 42:1-6
Context. These are the families and nations that will be of Abraham's seed according to Scripture.The Promised further explained. -
Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.
that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:7-9,14
Saul was a rabbi and a Pharisee, and he remained a rabbi and Pharisee and obedient to the Law of Moses. He knew the Abraham Covenant does not mention non-Hebrew Gentiles. It's a covenant between God, Abraham, and Abraham's Hebrew seed. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob - at least - all married and had children among Hebrew women.
Non-Hebrew Gentiles are not born from two Hebrew parents. It is biologically impossible.
The Scripture - Law, Psalms, and Prophets - records the relationship and history, culture, and religion of the Hebrew people.
Jesus as High Priest sacrificed to and for the children of Israel just as the high priest under the Law sacrificed to and for the children of Israel.
Non-Hebrew Gentiles are not included in the three Hebrew covenants (Abraham, Mosaic, New.)
God is betrothed to Israel. She is His Bride. If God or Christ love non-Hebrew Gentiles then He is guilty of adultery. God has only ONE WOMAN in His life.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Eph 5:24–29.
His own flesh. Meaning His people the Jews:
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Matt. 1:21.
His people = His own flesh.
