What is Israelology?

Israelology is the area of theological study specifically focused on what the Bible teaches about Israel. The key author on this issue in recent years has been Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Ph.D., founder of Ariel Ministries. His primary focus is to display what the fullness of Scripture teaches regarding the land and people of Israel. Dr. Fruchtenbaum specifically rejects replacement theology (the belief that the Church has replaced the Israel of the Old Testament). As he notes, only dispensationalism, “with its clear distinction between Israel and the Church, can, in fact, provide a systematized biblical doctrine of Israel.”

Fruchtenbaum’s work is often embraced by those holding to dispensationalism and largely rejected by those who do not. However, the study of Israelology offers much insight for all believers. For example, Israelology shows how both the Church and Israel have a role now. The Church is called, as the early apostles and Christians were, to share the gospel message with the Jewish people as one of the many nations included in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Also, our view of Israel informs our view of the Mosaic Law of the Old Testament. Israelology examines how the early church dealt with the practice of Judaism and advocated the reading and studying of the Old Testament Scriptures.

A final, important result of the study of Israeology is a deeper respect for contemporary Jewish people. Growing anti-Semitism in parts of the world often casts Israel in a highly negative light. However, a proper, biblical view of Israel notes God’s high view of Israel and its future. Christians are called to show love to the people of Israel and to pray for them (Psalm 122:6).

Israelology is an often-neglected study among Christians, perhaps because of preconceived beliefs related to the end times or replacement theology. However, all Christians are called to study to show themselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15). Our study must include what the Bible teaches about Abraham’s people and the land God promised them (Genesis 12:1-3).

What do you do about The children of Ishmael also being children of Abraham? What is the definition of all Israel? Gal 3: 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. And what about all of the Israelites before this time? Caiaphas was an Israelite--is he gonna make it? And what do you mean by Got?? Did you mean to say "Got it??

I'm sorry I should have been clearer. I found the above article This morning at a popular Christian website by the name of got questions.

It was the first time that I've ever heard of Israelology. I did a quick study on it I really couldn't find much information and I was hoping good that someone here could explain a little more about it,

I have a book in my Logos Library called "Got Questions Ministries, Got Questions? Bible Questions Answered, vol. 2"
And I found this in it for you. Sounds just like the article that you posted from GOT? I never knew they were connected.

A lot is said about the children of Ishmael. scripture, Genesis 17:17 "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"Genesis 17:18 "And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!"Genesis 17:19 "And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him."Genesis 17:20 "And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation."Genesis 17:21 "But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year."Genesis 17:22 "And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham."Genesis 17:23 "And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him."Genesis 17:24 "And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin."Genesis 17:25 "And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin."Genesis 17:26 "In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son."Genesis 17:27 "And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him."

did one notice "Abraham", and not "Abram" let's back up a few verses, Genesis 17:1 "And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect."Genesis 17:2 "And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly."Genesis 17:3 "And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,"Genesis 17:4 "As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations."Genesis 17:5 "Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee."Genesis 17:6 "And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee."Genesis 17:7 "And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee." THEIR, THEIR, THEIR, GENERATIONS. so who is the SEED in their generations? ANSWER, Galatians 3:18 "For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise."Galatians 3:19 "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator."

so, the inheritance is not of the LAW, so where is the inheritance? Answer, Galatians 3:6 "Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."Galatians 3:7 "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. (READ THAT AGAIN). "Galatians 3:8 "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed."Galatians 3:9 "So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham."

now, can we back this up from an Israelite brother? YES, 1 John 2:2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." this is the covenant, for the world. and not for Israel only.... for, Joel 2:32 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.".... SHALL CALL? what did the apostle Peter said on the day of Pentecost? Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."Acts 2:39 "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." Question, is God still calling Today? yes, THE GREAT COMMISSION, Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"Matthew 28:20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."HOW MANY NATIONS TO TEACH?" and teach all nations, and nations have an "s" at the end. just as 1 John 2:2 clearly states

NOW, let's see this calling in ACTION.

Romans 10:14 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"Romans 10:16 "But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?"

read that again.

Israelology is the area of theological study specifically focused on what the Bible teaches about Israel. His primary focus is to display what the fullness of Scripture teaches regarding the land and people of Israel. As he notes, only dispensationalism, “with its clear distinction between Israel and the Church, can, in fact, provide a systematized biblical doctrine of Israel.”
According to Scripture Israel and the Church are the same. The Hebrew Scripture - Genesis to Revelation - was written by Hebrews/Jews to and for Hebrews and is a record of God's relationship and redemption of this people.
According to Scripture the Abrahamic Covenant described in Genesis 12, 15, and 17 is clear that the covenant God made with Abraham was also to be extended to Abraham's seed who are identified as Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob's sons, even further extended to their families, these families that God said He would bless.

3 I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:3.

"In thee" is a direct reference to the families that would in time come into existence through natural birth and in the process of time. These "families of the earth" born "in thee" (Abraham, as the covenant details) include the descendants of Ishmael and Esau, who were blessed of God in their generations. And though these families were blessed and prospered by God, the line upon which the covenant promises would pass to were Isaac, then Jacob, continuing down to Jacob's sons and families reaching beyond the "seventy souls" that went to Egypt at the close of Gensis. When the story picks up in Exodus many generations were born among the Hebrews that can only be described as a population explosion numbering about 2.5 million people in the span of 430 years, the approximate time they spent in Egypt before Moses was sent by God to deliver them from their bondage in fulfillment of prophecy (Genesis 15.) By stating in Genesis 12:3, "in thee" God is identifying these "families of the earth" that would be blessed are Abraham's descendants (seed.)

God made the Mosaic Covenant and its promises with the descendants of Abraham, a people numbering over 2.5 million Hebrews delivered from their Egyptian bondage and led into the desert by God until they arrived at Mount Sinai. Here is where God gives this people His Laws to live by and laws that guided every aspect of their lives under God's protection and blessing. In Exodus, the descendants of Jacob are now called the children of Israel, Israel being the name God gave Jacob in Genesis 35 along with establishing the covenant first given to Abraham is now extended to him (Jacob/Israel.) During this time God instructed the Hebrews to build a Tabernacle along with the Ark of the Covenant and laws instructing the children of Israel in the worship of God as well as the laws directing an established priesthood who would offer sacrifices to God and lay the groundwork for their eventual total redemption through the ministry and service at the Tabernacle in the desert.

After this, and in the process of time as the people grew in number God would send prophets whose prophecies provided further instruction to the Hebrew people of a New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34) He would establish with the House of Israel (ten northern kingdom tribes), and the House of Judah (two southern kingdom tribes.) This New Covenant would see the eternal redemption of the Hebrew people and establish God's own Son as the Savior and King of the Hebrew people.
In Scripture, the Hebrew people of over 2.5 million souls were called by God a "great congregation" in the desert at the time of the Tabernacle. The Church Christ promised to build was an outgrowth of this "great congregation" in the desert and it began to be populated by Jews who were born-again by the Holy Spirit of Promise PROMISED TO ISRAEL (Joel.) From Pentecost to the destruction of Israel and her Temple God was fulfilling His promises made to Abraham and written in Scripture. The so-called "Great Commission" was command by Jesus Christ to His eleven disciples to go into Gentile lands to where God had scattered the Hebrew people with one message to them as follows: God has kept His promises. It was a message to the Hebrew people living in Gentile lands and separated from the commonwealth of Israel and their relationship with their God.

The only true Biblical Christians are the Hebrew people and mixed heritage Hebrews, specifically those who have come to know their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through a spiritual rebirth called being "born-again." These are the people of covenant and a people of God.
Got?
There is much more than just "land" where the Hebrew people are concerned. There is more than just "blessings" going to the heart of the matter between the God of Israel and the Israeli people. The whole of the Bible is a record of God dealing with Abraham and a people that would grow to become a Hebrew nation among nations of the world. Their salvation had been promised them by God and the Scripture records those promises along with a very intimate relationship between the God of creation and this chosen people of God beginning with Abraham and ending with the Lion from the tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ, their promised final deliverer and redeemer of this people.

However, the history and message of salvation has been hijacked and stolen by a people who never had covenant with God and were never the inheritors of those promises. This confusion came about soon after the destruction of the Jewish Temple and the scattering of the Jewish people by the Romans. And now that God is restoring His people back into their land the history of this people on this side of glory is soon coming to an end and a new story is to be told of what will follow when the last Hebrew is born-again and the Lord is finally sitting on His throne in Jerusalem shepherding His covenant people in their land and ruling with a rod of iron the people that actually believed they could destroy this people from the face of the earth. It will never be, especially since it is these families of the earth in which God has blessed immensely. Make sure you understand and rightly accept and recognize that as Saul rightly said, "If God be for us (Jews), who can be against us?"

There isn't really much to say about the children of Ishmael. They are not Adonai's chosen people. True we are all one in Yeshua.

This might deeply anger some
but guess what . NOT even all the children who came of the flesh lineage
of abraham , of issac
are even OF abraham . many jews are not true children .
GUESS who the sons of abraham are , THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS THE CHRIST .
Yes indeed my friend . GUESS who the ISRAEL of GOD truly is
Guess who are of the TRUE JERUSALEM , that is not in bondage as is earthen jersualem .
THE BELIEVERS IN JESUS the CHRIST . TO the trenches david . TO the trenches for the hour is late
and the delusion is great and is taking many right into the lie .

ALL the seed of Abraham to whom the promises are inherited are all true Hebrews.
Even those who you think are not true Hebrews are true Hebrews merely through biology and dictation.
Biology: born of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham.
Dictation: The promises were inherited by Isaac, then Jacob, then Jacob's twelve sons and through the generations thereafter as dictated by God.

6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Romans 9:6–13.

God above is identifying who is a true Israelite. Those that are born of Abraham and Sarah, which is Isaac. Those that are born of Jacob not Esau.
