The Jewishness of the Christian Faith

JEREMIAH, pay attention please. We are the spiritual heirs not at all the fleshly heirs to God’s promises to Abraham. We are the spiritual heirs not at of thenoromise mase to Abraham that onenof his decendants (Jesus) will ne a blessing to all mankknd. We are ortnofnall mankind. The New Covenant was to be bound by better oromises than the Old Covenant. At Sinai the Hebrews answered Hod in his wedding vows by saying we will do all you say. Theynof course failed. The New Covenant is bound by better promises of Jesus who as the firey torch walked the blood path covenant of Anraham’s dream, in Abraham’s stead in Genesis 5. He consumated the promises on Calvary’s cross some 1500 years later as a decendantbof Abraham as God promised.

The Galatian church was largely Gentile with some trouble making Judaizers, as we know.

In Ephesians 3:1-6, Paul AGAIN reveals the mystery of the Gospel. (Pay close attention!)

1 ¶ For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—
2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you,
3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly.
4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ,
5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
6 This mystery isfthat the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

S P I R I T U A L heirs!, not physical heirs

Paul wrote the verse in Galatians I quoted that said we as Gentile Christians are heir to the promises. Sorry i’m not sure why you have a problem with what Paul clearly stated.
If you were heir to your parents inheritance does that also mean the man six miles outside the city living with a wife and two children is also heir to your inheritance? For your information God made promises to Abram the Hebrew (Gen. 14:13) and extended it to his Hebrew seed. His wife, Sarai, was Hebrew born from the family of Eber from whom the name "Hebrew" derives. Abram married his half-sister. They share the same father but different mothers:

12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. Genesis 20:12.

In Genesis 15 Abram asks God for an heir from his own loins, NOT someone who was presently his servant and one to whom Abram's possessions - and covenant - was to be inherited.

2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. Genesis 15:2–4.

So, now we are talking about Abram promised a son from God and Sarai, his half-sister wife, to be his mother. This child was to be named "Isaac" and at the appointed time he would be born of Sarai, a free woman and half-sister to Abram. Now we have two Hebrews to become by birth the parents of a Hebrew son:

19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. Genesis 17:19.

Are you following the Scripture. You see, non-Hebrew Gentiles are NOT born from the loins of two Hebrew parents. Non-Hebrew Gentiles who were NOT included in this biological covenant between God, Abram, and Abram's Hebrew seed were already alive and existing as the descendants of Ham and Japheth, the two sons of Noah, with Shem being the great-great grandfather of Abraham who would be recipient of the covenant promises God makes to him:

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. Genesis 17:7.

You do know that "thy seed" is talking about a birth from his loins and Sarai his wife to be the mother of a great biological family to be born from Abram's seed. This includes the birth of Ishmael from Hagar, a bondservant of Sarai, whom she gave to Abram to have a child with her in order to attempt at fulfilling God's promise on their own. Then, remember that Ishamel had twelve sons - just like Jacob - and so the half-Hebrew/half-Egyptian offspring of Abram and Hagar came into being. But God promised Abram a son through Sarai, his half-sister wife.

11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Genesis 18:11–14.

Do you see what's going on here? Do you see what Scripture says about two Hebrew parents who were descendant of Eber (Genesis 11:14-26) and God promising these two descendants of Eber and related by blood that they were promised a son who would be biological heir of Abram's covenant and the promises given in covenant, such as land and other possessions of Abram. Now, if you were Isaac, the son promised Abram and Sarai, and after Abram dies and it came time to inherit his possessions, does this mean that a strange man who lives six miles away from you in another part of the city can also claim inheritance after your parents died? Is that how inheritance is distributed? Tell me.
Also, when Jesus fulfilled the Law, he filled it BACK up to its originally full extentas God intendended. The word translated full fill in Mathew 5:17 pleroo means literally to fill up or fill full. For instance Jesus said “you have heard it said, do not kill, but I say to you do not even have anger in your heart.” Full fill means to fill to the full as God intended. Jesus raised the bar of the Law back to where God intended, not just the letter of the law as the Pharisees and other Jewish leaders had effectively emptied it of its intended purpose with their endless traditions of men. The context of the entire Sermon on the Mount in Mathew 5 supports that. Yes, Jesus properly interpreted back to the full what the Pharisees had effectively emptied or perverted of the Law. Jesus spent much time railing against their traditions of men.
Jesus didn't raise the bar of the Law. The Law is unchanging - like God. What God said to Abram and Sarai does not change nor does the Mosaic Covenant we find in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. God says what He means and He means what He says. He is not fickle. He does not change, nor do His promises. God doesn't lie. Men do. Women lie, too. And you are lying here in what you claim the God of the Bible has said.

6 For I am the LORD, I change not; Malachi 3:6.

34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Psalm 89:34.

There was no "emptying" of the Law. Who taught you that? There was no "emptying" of the Law. But what DID take place through the traditions of the elders was an ADDITION to the Law by the religious leaders who added to the Law things that it never meant to teach and express. But at this point in the history of the Hebrew people God's Law could only be interpreted and understood by the 'letter of the Law' only. It wasn't until Jesus came and He sent the Holy Spirit of Promise upon the children of Israel that natural Olive tree Israel became spiritual Olive tree Israel and three thousand Jews were born-again on the Jewish day of the Feast of Harvest. This is also called Pentecost - because it came fifty days from Passover. A Passover in which the lamb of God was slain for the sins of the children of Israel according to the Promises of God.

It is your false understanding and perverted teaching and personal belief of the Law and the Promises of God that you have twisted the Word of God and come to conclusions God never spoke. The reason why Jesus and the religious leaders of Israel had contention was the unenlightened religious leaders who only know the "letter of the Law" and Jesus taught the "spirit of the Law" that brought them into conflict with each other. Jesus didn't chastise their "letter of the Law" understanding, Jesus had taken issue with them because they elevated the traditions of the Elders above the Word of God. The Pharisees and Jesus believed the same when it came to the things Scripture taught.

We often focus on the sharp rebukes Jesus gave the Pharisees, yet they actually shared a significant amount of common theological ground. In fact, many scholars describe Jesus as being much closer to the Pharisaic school of thought than to any other Jewish sect of the time, such as the Sadducees. They agreed on Resurrection, Angels, and Spirits. Along with the Authority of the Scriptures Jesus was more aligned with the Pharisees and unlike the Sadducees, who primarily only accepted the five books of Moses (the Torah), the Pharisees and Jesus both held the Prophets and the Writings (the rest of the Old Testament) as divinely inspired. Jesus even commanded His followers to respect the teaching authority of the Pharisees because of their dedication to the Law:

1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. Matthew 23:1–3.

In other words, Jesus called them hypocrites. They say but did not do. And what they said was in line with the Scripture except they did not follow their own teaching on the Law and the Prophets. So, according to what Jesus and the Pharisees taught both were in line with Scripture. Except, as I said above, the elevated the Traditions of the Elders ABOVE the Law and the Prophets. They said but did not do. They were hypocrites. And Jesus instructed His disciples to obey their teaching of the Law and the Prophets but to not do what they did as leaders of the people.

Your belief and understanding of what "fulfilled" (the Law) is in error. The context of what Jesus did when it says "I came to fulfill, not destroy (the Law)" (Matt. 5:17), it doesn't mean that He 'filled up again what the Pharisees emptied", but it means instead that Jesus ACCOMPLISHED the Law as in obeying the Law which is what He did. It is NOT a gas tank in which one needs to add more gas because the tank is 'empty", but that Jesus accomplished everything the Law required of those to whom God gave His Word and His Law.

I really hope you learn something here. The Scripture says the "Law is spiritual." The problem was that as flesh those under the Law could not obey completely everything the Law required of the Jews. It was impossible. This is why when God gave the Law, He provided sacrifices and burnt offerings to address Israel's failings, and this was perpetual every day or every year until the Perfect and Righteous Son of God was sent to die as the sacrificial animal would die - under the Law - to atone the sins of the Hebrew people. In this Jesus also "fulfilled" and "accomplished" what the Law required - all 613 Laws of Moses given of God. And by doing so God was able to raise Him from the dead. IF there was ONE failing or transgression of the Law committed by Jesus that sin would keep Him in the grave.
ARE YOU 'PAYING ATTENTION'?

This also leads to the Doctrine of Imputation. But I won't get into that now. You need to correct your teaching and understanding and bring it all in compliance with the Word of God. Whoever is teaching you these things you say in error, know that this person's theology is boo boo.

Jeremiah1five, God’s Law didn’t change, but the Pharisee’s additions of there traditions of men had stripped the Law of it’s spirit of the law as God intended. Jesus railed continually on the Pharisees about this. Jesus restored God’s law BACK to the way God intended, not just letter of the Law but ALSO spirit of the Law. Jesus raised the bar BACK to where God intended in the Mathew 5:17 passage, with his proper interpretations - “you have beard it said ……., but I (Jesus) say to you….. that was his entire purpose of the Sermon on the Mount. ie Pharisees, you have perverted God’s law and in effect emptied it of its true meaning. I (Jesus) am restoring it BACK to what God originally intended.

Jeremiah1five, take it up with Paul about the Gentiles being (Spiritual) heirs to the Promises of Abraham. Paul specifically said THAT was the mystery of the Gospel in Ephesians 3: 1-6. I guess with you it is still a powerful mystery!

God made NO COVENANT with non-Hebrew Gentiles.
ERROR, and GROSS ERROR.
Let's see what God actually said ... once more. Genesis 17:7 "And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee."

the EVERLASTING COVENANT was made with Abram/now Abraham... and his "SEED".... note that. Genesis 17:5 "Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee." NOT JUST ISRAEL ONLY. the Holy Spirit revealed this to the apostle Paul. Galatians 3:16 "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." Galatians 3:17 "And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect." Galatians 3:18 "For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise."

now who have the PROMISE? Romans 9:6 "Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:" Romans 9:7 "Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called." Romans 9:8 "That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." Romans 9:9 "For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son."

How is the Promise Obtain? answer by "FAITH". Romans 10:12 "For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him." Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:14 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10:16 "But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?" Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:18 "But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world."

WHAT DID Romans 10:12 SAY? "For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."

GOD IS NO RESPECTOR OF PERSON. meaning neither jew or gentile have nothing over the other. they are all the same in God eyes. 101G suggest one read especially Romans chapter 8, 9, and 10, but the WHOLE book is good for all our reading.

101G.
