The Fruit of the Holy Spirit

The main "fruit of the holy spirit" verse is Galatians 5:22–23, which lists the qualities: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Other verses mention these fruits and discuss the empowering nature of the Holy Spirit that produces these qualities in believers.

We need the fruit of the Holy Spirit to push out the works of the flesh. They can’t coexist. When we live in the light of the gospel, selfish ambition dies. We stop using people to affirm our sense of self-importance. We stop needing people to affirm us by agreeing with all our posts and opinions. We stop needing people to affirm us by acknowledging all our gifts and ministries and accomplishments. We stop needing people to affirm us by conforming to us like cult leaders do. When we live in the light of the gospel, we accept people in Christ. This leaves no room for enmity, strife, jealousy, or fits of anger.

We see the full, complete, and perfect manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in Jesus. We see it in His dealings with the sick, the young, the difficult, and the lost. Christ abounds in the fruit of the Holy Spirit when the leper kneels before Him, when men lower the paralytic at His feet, when Jairus pleads with Him to heal His daughter, and when the woman with the hemorrhage touches His garment. We see it when He prostrates Himself to wash His disciples’ feet. And we see it when He stretches out His arms on Calvary’s cross and bears the sins of the world.

The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of a Christian. The Bible makes it clear that everyone receives the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:9
But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the Holy Spirit of God dwells within you, directs and controls you. But if anyone does not possess the Holy Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God.

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit

Ephesians 1:13–14
13 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

One of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit coming into a Christian’s life is to change that life. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to conform us to the image of Christ, making us more like Him.

We can rely on the Holt Sprit's power is us. The Holy Spirit’s power in Christians is described by the Greek word dunamis. The same word gives rise to our English word dynamite. The Holy Spirit causes things to happen! His is an infinite power that blasts sin out of our lives.

What are the characteristics of the Holy Spirit’s power in us? I'm glad you asked.

Well first and foremost, the power of the Holy Spirit purifies us. The nature of the Holy Spirit is often identified with fire. You will recall that the Holy Spirit’s manifestation is described as “divided tongues, as of fire” (Acts 2:3).

Fire, God’s purification of the sinner of all that makes you impure before the Father. The Holy Spirit literally burns sin out of you so that you won’t burn in your sin.

Paul wrote “If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” Romans 8:10–11

The Holy Spirit not only burns sin from us, but He cleanses the fleshly nature so that we no longer desire to sin. In other words, once He has purified us, part of the purification process is a desire in us to remain pure.

Great topic !!!

Man plays a vital role in walking in the spirit. A believer has things they do to be able to live a victorious Christian life. This is a very unpopular view in the modern day church but its what Jesus and the Apostles taught and expected for every believer. @charismaticlady

Galatians 5:24
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified [past tense and dead] the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Colossians 2:11
“In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off[paste tense; what is circumcised/removed is never again part of the body] when you were circumcised by Christ,”

Romans 6:4
We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.

Romans 7:5
“For when we were [past tense] in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.”

Romans 8:9
“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

2 Corinthians 5:16
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Colossians 3:5
Put to death
, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

Ephesians 4:22-24
to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; / and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Romans 13:14
Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 3:27
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

1 Peter 2:11

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

1 Peter 4:1-2
Therefore, since Christ suffered in His body, arm yourselves with the same resolve, because anyone who has suffered in his body is done with sin. / Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God.

1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. / For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. / The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.

conclusion: Be filled with the spirit

Ephesians 5:18 says to all Christians, "Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit." The verb "be filled" is famously a present tense verb which means to do it regularly, continually. Then it is an imperative verb, which means that it is a command and not a suggestion.

Its as simple as that obey the Lord and be continually filled with His Spirit.

Galatians 5:16- But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Galatians 5:23-25 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, we should also walk by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other

Ephesians 4:30- And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Revelation 3:3-6
“To the angel of the church in Sardis write:

These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. 4Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.

6Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

hope this helps !!!

The fruit of the spirit is a result of abiding in the vine, walking in the spirit , being filled with the spirit and not quenching the spirit. All commands for us to obey resulting in the fruit of the spirits work in the believer. :)

We would be hard-pressed without the Holy Spirit guiding and directing our life.

Jesus left the Holy Spirit to be with believers, to empower them, and to continue his work on Earth. His departure was necessary for the Holy Spirit to be poured out, so the Spirit could act as a helper and comforter who could dwell within believers everywhere, not just in one place. The Holy Spirit also serves to remind people of Jesus's teachings, to convict the world of sin, and to guide believers into a deeper understanding of God's will.
