The fallacy of eternity being a timeless state.

We read this below after the New Heavens and New Earth have been created, after the GWT Judgement and in the New Jerusalem where God is its light.

Revelation 22:1-2
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2;down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month.

So we see there will be the tree of life bearing fruit every month. A month is a designated reference for time. There will be time in the eternal state in the future.

Lets discuss...............

hope this helps !!!

Great question @civic.

As I have understood things this will be our eternal home.

As we are told in Rev 21: 3-4
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

The New Heavens and New Earth is essentially our eternal “heaven"....the place where God’s people will live forever in perfect fellowship with Him. It’s not just a spiritual realm floating somewhere; it’s a renewed creation where everything is made right, sin and death are gone, and God Himself dwells with His people

You are right in that the Tree of Life monthly designation is a time designation.... but I wonder why there would need to be a tree of life?

Maybe inn general there are some misconceptions about the tree of life. In the eternal future state there will always be the water of life, the tree of life, the fruit from it, God and the Lamb as its perpetual light etc......

I can't wait for the New Heavens/Earth and the New Jerusalem. :) I'm sure it will be mind blowing to say the least. Way beyond our wildest imagination.

I was just talking about looking forward to exiting this world with my wife and daughter and leaving this place behind. They were not quite as excited as me to leave it all behind yet. :)

Will we have to pick the fruit or will someone else do that and bring it to us?

This from Got? is good.

The gift of eternal life comes to those who believe in Jesus Christ, who is Himself “the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). The fact that this life is “eternal” indicates that it is perpetual life—it goes on and on and on, with no end.

It is a mistake, however, to view eternal life as simply an unending progression of years. A common New Testament word for “eternal” is aiónios, which carries the idea of quality as well as quantity. In fact, eternal life is not really associated with “years” at all, as it is independent of time. Eternal life can function outside of and beyond time, as well as within time.

For this reason, eternal life can be thought of as something that Christians experience now. Believers don’t have to “wait” for eternal life, because it’s not something that starts when they die. Rather, eternal life begins the moment a person exercises faith in Christ. It is our current possession. John 3:36 says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.” Note that the believer “has” (present tense) this life (the verb is present tense in the Greek, too). We find similar present-tense constructions in John 5:24 and John 6:47. The focus of eternal life is not on our future, but on our current standing in Christ.

Sometimes we as Christians make Heaven sound somewhat boring—sitting around playing harps and floating around on clouds—when in reality it will be incredible.

I think Heaven will be full of creatures. Maybe not a particular pet, i don't know. i just don't believe that God wastes anything that is good, especially if He went to so much trouble to create life on this earth with such incredible diversity and creativity.

The Bible teaches that when Jesus Christ returns, He will be riding on a white horse. This imagery is found in Revelation 19:11-16:

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

I would love to take care of animals in Heaven.

The animal question is an interesting one with heaven- Christ and the saints return on horses. Also in the millennium we have the wolf and lamb laying down together. In the new heavens and earth there is no reason to think there will no longer be any animals present. I cannot make any absolute statement one way or the other since the bible does not. But we do have the following to consider in the Old Testament:

What will this new heavens and new earth be like? Isaiah describes it as a place where there is no more weeping and crying, but rather rejoicing (Isa 65:17-19). People shall build houses and live in them, plant vineyards, and enjoy their fruit. All will be well again, better than Eden. Indeed, “the wolf and the lamb shall graze together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox,” (Isa 65:25). Elsewhere, when the prophet describes the blessings of the new creation in Christ, he says, “the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy will lead them,” (Isa 11:6).1517.org
