The Eternal Son

Yes, I agree, but he also was THE life, which is an attribute of God.

So the only harmonization is that God is multi-personal and beget multiple persons within his essence.

The Word was in the bosom of the Father in the beginning.

And no, despite your wanton claims, people are not called gods willy nilly in Scripture, it's exceedingly rare.
He's called the life because he got his life from God and was authorized to give life later on.

op: Eternal SON?
All I know is:

"Thus saith The LORD the King of Israel, and his Redeemer The LORD of hosts;
I AM The First, and I AM The Last; and beside Me there is no God." (Isaiah 44:6 AV)
+
"Hearken unto Me, O Jacob and Israel, My called; I AM He; I AM The First, I also AM The Last."
(Isaiah 48:12 AV)
+
"And from Jesus Christ, Who is The Faithful Witness, and the First Begotten of the dead...
Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him:
and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. I AM Alpha and Omega,
The Beginning and The Ending, Saith The Lord, Which Is, and Which [ Eternally ] Was, and
Which Is To Come, The Almighty.
+
I John...heard behind me A Great Voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I AM Alpha and Omega, The First
and The Last:... And when I saw Him, I fell at His Feet as dead. And He Laid His Right Hand Upon
me, Saying unto me, Fear not; I AM The First and The Last: I AM He That liveth, and Was Dead;
and, behold, I AM alive for evermore, Amen...
+
...And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things Saith The First and The Last,
Which Was Dead, and is alive;" (Revelation 1:5-11, 17-18, 2:8 AV)

Good enough for me.
Praying we are all(?) Ready for the Judgment Of God, The Eternal SON, honoring Him?
(Revelation 20:12; John 5:22-23 AV)
Amen!

Scripture says the Son , not Jesus or the Word was together with the Father before creation sharing the same glory together with the Father. So by default that makes the Son ETERNAL.

And once again using your logic and reasoning the Word in John 1:1 is not Eternal.
So you're ignoring Luke 1:35 AGAIN? Why are you avoiding that verse like the plague? I'll make it easy for you. Just fill in the blank.
Gabriel said that the reason Jesus would be called the Son of God was ___________________?

This is Christianity 101. Actually it's much simpler than that. It's the English language 101.

We do not know for the Scripture does not dictate to us as such.
Yes, there is; Isa 9:6 says “unto us a son is given”, a direct reference to Jesus. The son will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father.

The fact that “a son” is given to us, the logical conclusion is that the son given is the son of the one who is giving him to us, which is God! God is telling us he is sending his son…

Yes, of course we know that is The Father sending the Son = BECAUSE of this = Isaiah 46:9

Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,

And I will do all My pleasure,’

In Eternity Past, before Creation, Elohim determined FATHER/SON/HOLY SPIRIT
Then THEY Created = Genesis

We are not told when the decided but we are told why.

Furthermore, there are SECRETS/HIDDEN TRUTH, that only Elohim knows of and will not reveal it to anyone.

Hint: Jesus is not an eternal son, hence the Bible calls him begotten repeatedly, and created in more than a few places.
μονογενής, μονογενές (μόνος and γένος) (Cicero, unigena; Vulg. (in Lukeunicus, elsewhere) and in ecclesiastical writingsunigenitus), single of its kind, only (A. V. only-begotten); used of only sons or daughters (viewed in relation to their parents) Thayer

The concept of singularity is the point of emphasis here; in human terms, being born or coming into existence is a necessary nuance of meaning, but the force of the import is on singularity of type and being.

The one you say is "God the Son" is said to have been born or begotten in the Bible though. Right?

I had thought that Civic would be open to share his understanding of any verse in the Bible, which I would be more than willing to do Apparently he doesn't even want to touch Luke 1:35.

So God sent the Son of God into Mary's womb to become the Son of God?
Of course that’s the Incarnation- God sent His Son, the Son of God ( already existing) has come ( present , active , indicative) 1 John 5:20. He ( the Son of God) is the True God and Eternal life.

cf 1 John 4:10, 1 John 4:14 God sent His Son. The Son existed before He was sent. This Son is the Son of God in those same passages.

The Son of God- having the nature of God
The Son of man- having the nature of man

The Divine Eternal Son became man. The 2 natures emphasized in the Son of God and man.

hope this helps !!!

Notice it’s through the Son that everything was created and that the Son existed before all created things.

Hebrews 1:2 says: “but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.”

This verse says that the Son was the person through whom God made the universe. He was the Son before creation, long before his birth

Colossians 1:15-17

The Son
is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Luke 1:35 "... The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy child shall be called the Son of God."

The "sons of God" have appeared in Scripture, but this is "The Son of God". The incarnation had never happened before. The Son of God was being formed in Mary's womb, both man and God. The Word became flesh. The God "part" of Him was eternal, the man "part" of Him, His flesh, was mortal. Together, they are called the Son of God - the ONLY begotten Son of God. This One, God in the flesh, did not exist eternally. His Spirit, the Word did exist eternally.
He didn’t “become” the Son of God, he, the Son of God, “became flesh and lived among us”!

Doug
Wrong. The Word who was God, became flesh - AND ONLY THEN became and was called The Son of God. It does not say that the Son of God became flesh. John 1:14 You are mistaken.

Luke 1:35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

He will be called the Son of God by humans when he is born. This says nothing about God’s perspective but is all about those in Mary’s world of humanity.

But logically, this would imply that the angel is telling Mary that she will give birth to the one who is already the Son of God. Now humanity will recognize him as such and call him what he has always been.
