take your time, I hope the Lord Jesus want return tonight......I hope...... (smile). I already hit one from my previous notes, you might like to add this one.
Rev 12:1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
639- Gen 37:9-11
Rev 1:20;
Rev 21:14;
640- Isa 62:3;
641- Zec 9:16

The moon that is a Lesser Light, is at her feet, (the Law), vs the SUN, (the Gospel), which is a greater Light, is at her Head. Which is expressed in Psalms 119:105 "NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

101G.
The original dream belonged to Joseph.
The sun was Jacob/Israel.
The moon was mom/Rebecca.
The 11 stars were the sons of Jacob.

Gen 37:9-10 WEB 9 He dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, “Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream: and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me.” 10 He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”

His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”
thanks for the reply, but 101G must disagree, and here's why. # 1. this was no dream, but a vision. #2. her head a crown of twelve stars, not 11, for Josheph himself was replaced by his to boys Mannases and Ephrim. but the 12 stars was not referring to the 12 tribes, but the twelve apostles, for stars represent messengers, be they human or divine. because the woman was clothed with the (sun) the gospel. meaning the Church in the wilderness. who was Judah, represented by Mary the virgin. for Israel was put away and given a bill of divorcement. Judah on the other hand was not divorced, but only put away. which nullifies Chuck Missler idea that the church/Woman was an illegitimate bride. no, she was still married to God, only put away, not divorced. supportive scripture for this, Isaiah 50:1 "Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away."

so, the Woman, (the church in the wilderness), the remnant gave birth to the male child the KING, and Governor of not only Israel but all nations of the earth.

so, the sun is not Jacob/Israel, but the Gospel, the Good news. the moon at here feet is the Law, a lesser Light. and the 12 stars/messengers are the carriers of this good news, the Gospel.

The key word here is, "wonder", meaning a sign was seen in heaven, but is the action or the wonder, or the miracle is taking place in heaven, or on earth?, yes, on the earth. that wonder was a woman, see above, (that gave birth to a child, (flesh), without a man). in those days it was a wonder, (a woman having a child without knowing a man), and the prophet by God bare this out, Jeremiah 31:22 "How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man." this woman was clothed with the sun= the clothing of Righteousness. Job 29:14 "I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem”. being clothed in his, (God’s word), she have on his righteousness, the white garment, which is TRUTH.

the Moon at her feet, as said, is the Mosaic Law, a lesser light. Israel was walking by a dim light, the law. it was a lamp unto her, Israel, feet. Supporting Scriptures, Prov 6:23 "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life", now, Psalms 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. there it is, “the law was a lamp, (light) at her feet. just as the Sun is a greater light compared to the moon, so is the word of God, (the Gospel) is superior to the Law. The sun is, not NATURAL, but spiritual, Malachi 4:1 "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. Verse 2 "But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall”.

upon her head a crown of twelve stars = the place of honor. these 12 stars represent NOT the 12 tribes of Israel, for each tribe had a head, or principle person to lead. but stars here means “messengers”, and God, the Lord Jesus chose 12 “stars”/messengers who later became the 12 apostles, the foundation of “HIS” church, who he, the Lord Jesus is the chief cornerstone, to spread the gospel, as the sun spread is rays all over the earth. The sun, the Glory to come, shine in darkness which is her destiny, meaning taking the gospel to all the world. Supporting scriptures. Matthew 24:14 " And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come”. the sun is on her head, as Jesus is the head of the Church, for he it that light, and a city that is set on a hill, (above), so that all, as in EVERY NATION, can see, or understand the Good news.. As the prophet Malachi says the Sun of righteousness, in his wings is "HEALING for the Nations.

hope this helps,

P.S. if one keep one hand on Revelation chapter 12 and the other hand on Matthews chapter 2 all the major players in the vision are there.

thanks for the reply, but 101G must disagree, and here's why. # 1. this was no dream, but a vision.
The passage clearly stated dream.

Gen 37:9-10 KJV 9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. 10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

No translation I've ever seen says vision.
Including Greek (G1798) and Hebrew (H2492).

#2. her head a crown of twelve stars, not 11,
Yep. Joe's is #12.
for Josheph himself was replaced by his to boys Mannases and Ephrim. but the 12 stars was not referring to the 12 tribes, but the twelve apostles,
you are indeed entitled to this perspective.
you'd be the first person I'd ever heard claim that.

for stars represent messengers, be they human or divine. because the woman was clothed with the (sun) the gospel. meaning the Church in the wilderness. who was Judah, represented by Mary the virgin. for Israel was put away and given a bill of divorcement.

I'm not having a problem with my previously stated terms.

GINOLJC, to all.
first thanks for the reply. second, the vision that John had was not in reference to Josheph dream of Genesis, but the vision John had was of the BIRTH of Christ.

now, where in Genesis was .... of Josheph dream .... a dragon or it's representative is at? please understand there is nothing in chapter 12 is referring to Josheph and his dream.
No translation I've ever seen says vision.

John had the vision, but in his Vision was of the birth of Christ. chapter 12 of Revelation is the exact reference to the birth of Christ, all the major players are there in Matthews chapter 2. please consider this. 101G explanation did not come from man, but the Holy Spirit. I once, a Long time ago, went with the Josheph dream as the explanation, but until I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus then was I aware of the truth. also check out some other sources. I for one, who do not rely on this site too much, but they give a descent rending of revelation chapter 12 Got Question.Com. https://www.gotquestions.org/Revelation-chapter-12.html

What is this GINOLJC you keep repeating?

Yes, Paralleling his first dream

Genesis 37:5–8 (KJV 1900) — 5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: 7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. 8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? well this child was to rule all Nations, Revelation 12:5 "And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne." Joseph did not rule all nations, he just ruled in Egypt. now, Matthew 2:1 "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem," Matthew 2:2 "Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." Matthew 2:3 "When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him." Matthew 2:4 "And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born." Matthew 2:5 "And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet," Matthew 2:6 "And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel."

here is that prophecy. Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

here Ruler in Micah 5:2 is translated as Governor in Matthew 2:6,
H4910 מָשַׁל mashal (maw-shal') v.
to rule.
[a primitive root]
KJV: (have, make to have) dominion, governor, X indeed, reign, (bear, cause to, have) rule(-ing, -r), have power.

now who is the GOVERNOR of the nations? answer God himself. let the bible speak. Psalms 22:28 "For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations."

so this Child in Revelation is the Ruler/Governor of all nations. was Joseph the ruler of all nations.... no, so that disqualifies Joseph as that child.

101G.

@SteveB and @TomL .

this child, that is to rule as Governor. OT confirms this. especially Isaiah 9:6 and verse 7. where the GOIVERNMENT/or Rule is upon his shoulders. and with a rod of IRON, which is his Word, which never changes. for the Word of God is our measuring Rod. scripture, Psalms 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." and there are many other reference to these things.

Er none of that appears at

Genesis 37:5–8 (ESV) — 5 Now Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers they hated him even more. 6 He said to them, “Hear this dream that I have dreamed: 7 Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.” 8 His brothers said to him, “Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.

@SteveB,
if you will I suggest you read my post #31.

I'd understood that Revelation is John's vision.

I'd understood that Revelation 12 is NOT Joe's dream.

The op is based on allusions to the old testament.
Thus, Joe's dream is the basis from which the woman with the sun, moon, and crown of stars, is brought forward.

This isn't an argument.
It's merely to give context to the imagery, and ideas presented in Revelation.

first, Chris? ..... Yes, the Body of God
Second, is he not ruling now in the hearts of the believers?
third, no Revelation 12 is not about joseph.

nope, read Matthews chapter 2 this is what Revelation 12 is alluding to. and there are many OT scripture that support this birth of the Child more than Joseph dream.

@SteveB,
101G is not arguing over the vision itself, but if one is going to access the OT scriptures of the event, get the event right First. as said the birth of Christ has way more allusions than Joe's dream.
