Lordship Salvation in a Nutshell

Did I state that?

I stated, "we have heard and obeyed God to have a change of mind-decide wholeheartedly to stop living sinfully and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ unto justification to eternal life."

And also stated, "let's properly understand works salvation as depending upon one's self instead of faith salvation that trusts God to justify us. We are not saved by repentance, but because we genuinely decided to stop living to sinfulness and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ we are saved."

God Bless
Did I state that?
Yes

You are reading into my statement to come to your conclusion that I am stating we are saved by repentance and good works. I did not state that whatsoever. You cannot quote it from my statements because it is not there.

You missed what I stated, "We are not saved by repentance, but because we genuinely decided to stop living to sinfulness and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ we are saved."

We are saved because we genuinely decided to stop living to sinfulness as commanded by God and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the biblical model of salvation for a man to be saved.

Act 2:36-41 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah." (37) When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" (38) Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." (40) With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." (41) Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Key take away from Acts 36-41.
  • The unbelieving Jewish people heard that "God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah."
  • The unbelieving Jewish people were cut to the heart after hearing this and asked Peter and the Apostles "Brothers, what shall we do?"
  • Peter replied "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins"
  • And then Peter warned them with many words and pleaded with the them "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."
  • And those who accepted Peter's message were baptized.
We cannot disassociate repentance from salvation, as it is not a matter of doing good works, but a wholehearted decision of a person to stop living in rebellion against God and live as He wants us to live. The good works, "which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" come after faith in Jesus Christ not before.

A person cannot bear the good fruit of salvation unless they are saved. And a person cannot be saved unless he repents, otherwise you have a person bearing bad fruit in the name of Jesus Christ. And we know that is not acceptable to the Lord.

Mat 7:17-20 (NLT) "A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. (18) A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. (19) So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. (20) Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions."

I hope this helps you to understand my position.

God Bless

JESUS is the SAVIOR of the world = John 3:16
JESUS is LORD of Lords and KING of Kings = Revelation 19:16
JESUS is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End = Revelation 1:8

Does JESUS become our SAVIOR and LORD for us who are called???
ABSOLUTELY

We do not need lordship salvation but we MUST have and need, follow and obey JESUS, who is our SAVIOR, LORD and KING

Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, 6as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. 7And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Personally, "lordship salvation" sounds like a religious gimmic/sales/guilt pitch by men who wear paper crowns.......

I prefer FAITH in the WORD that Saves us = Romans 10:5-13 , Hebrews 11:1-6, 1 Peter 1:22-23
You got it, nail on the head.

Glad we are no longer in that boat.
I think Leighton was only a Calvinist for 10 or so years and I hear the same ad hominem attacks on him as on me- he was never really a Calvinist. I’ve heard and read his messages when he was a Calvinist just like you could read mine on the old forum.

They can make it sound so good it's hard to see the truth till it's shown to you in the right way. Once it is, then it's easy to see the lie of Calvinism.

I didn't get it from a link. I have the book.

The Gospel According to Jesus by John F. MacArthur Jr.

here you go

Please exercise great caution, @Unmerited—simply mentioning John MacArthur can lead to being branded a heretic or accused of promoting a false gospel. I say this from personal experience, as even referencing his name has caused significant issues for me on this site. Remember the words of Jesus in John 7:24, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment,” and Paul’s admonition in Galatians 5:15: “But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another...”

Shalom and God bless.

Johann.

Nothing, nada..I’ve checked everything on my end: the internet is fine, the computer is working perfectly, and I can log in to other sites without any issues... but with this one, there’s a problem; it took me 15 minutes just to post this to you.
