You are reading into my statement to come to your conclusion that I am stating we are saved by repentance and good works. I did not state that whatsoever. You cannot quote it from my statements because it is not there.
You missed what I stated, "
We are not saved by repentance, but because we genuinely decided to stop living to sinfulness and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ we are saved."
We are saved because we genuinely decided to stop living to sinfulness as commanded by God and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the biblical model of salvation for a man to be saved.
Act 2:36-41 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah." (37) When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" (38) Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." (40) With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." (41) Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Key take away from Acts 36-41.
- The unbelieving Jewish people heard that "God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah."
- The unbelieving Jewish people were cut to the heart after hearing this and asked Peter and the Apostles "Brothers, what shall we do?"
- Peter replied "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins"
- And then Peter warned them with many words and pleaded with the them "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."
- And those who accepted Peter's message were baptized.
We cannot disassociate repentance from salvation, as it is not a matter of doing good works, but a wholehearted decision of a person to stop living in rebellion against God and live as He wants us to live. The good works, "which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" come after faith in Jesus Christ not before.
A person cannot bear the good fruit of salvation unless they are saved. And a person cannot be saved unless he repents, otherwise you have a person bearing bad fruit in the name of Jesus Christ. And we know that is not acceptable to the Lord.
Mat 7:17-20 (NLT) "A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. (18) A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. (19) So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. (20) Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions."
I hope this helps you to understand my position.
God Bless
