Is believing/faith a work ?

If you don’t believe you cannot be saved period
Believing Faith is a Gift given by God Phil 1:29

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
That word given is Grace charizomai
to give graciously, give freely, bestow:

If you arent given Grace to believe you cannot believe

Salvation is a Gift, Grace is a Gift, Faith is a Gift, even repentance is a Gift, the totality of Salvation by Grace through Faith is a Gift. Not one iota of it is of ourselves.
I can assure you that my repentence, which is still ongoing at times is by me, with the help, at times, from the Holy Spirit.

You are definitely backwards on a lot of your list

Salvation is a Gift, Grace is a Gift, Faith is a Gift, even repentance is a Gift, the totality of Salvation by Grace through Faith is a Gift. Not one iota of it is of ourselves.
Our acceptance by means of the conduit of our faith adds nothing to the process or cost of the gift of salvation. It is all God. We have nothing to boast about. Our faith come from hearing or reading the word of God. It is. Irresistable tractor beam. God doesn’t need or want robots. He wants us to chose to love and trust him. We wouldn’t wantnour earthly spouse to have only programmed love for us as the earth. We AND God desire a love choice for each other.

God’s gift of his salvation is because of his love for us and his grace on our behalf. Our decision to accept him is through our faith rought about by the Spirit working IN our spirits via the scriptures. which by the verse in question is NOT grammatically the gift. It may can be proven the gift elsewhere fine, but it can’t in this verse unless we forget every grammatical rule. God wouldn’t have made it that complicated.

Because I believed is why grace saved me.
Thats backwards and denotes works. Grace saved me is why I believed, Paul taught we believe by or through or because of grace Acts 18:27

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

It likely would be work for you. When one struggles to understand, that is like trying to pass a test with not having studied.

For me... I can promise you... it is nothing short of a privilege to call God my Heavenly Father, and Jesus my savior brother, and
with the Holy Spirit living in me my heart is filled to over flowing and my faith is what "they" have done for me is with an abundance of gratitude.... and If gratitude is a work. If privilege is a work I am thrilled to work my fingers to the bones for
my Heavenly family .....

And you should be too.
