The OT saints are under the care of the everlasting covenant, which is the New Covenant in time, theyre one and the same.
Thats why its called the blood of the everlasting covenant Heb 13:20

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Exactly. What else do you think it means for someone to have a character trait if not that they are a doer of works that embody that trait? For someone to be courageous means that they are a doer of courageous works and it would be inaccurate to describe someone as compassionate if they were not a doer of compassionate works, so there is no such thing as someone having a character trait apart from being a doer of works that embody it.

According to Galatians 5:14, anyone who has love their neighbor has fulfilled the entire law, so it refers to something that countless people have done and should continue to do in perpetuity, not to something unique that only Christ did. In Titus 2:11-13, the content of our gift of salvation is described as being train by grace to fulfill those works, so if Christ had fulfilled the Law on our behalf instead of graciously teaching us to experience fulfilling them, then he would have removed the content of our gift of salvation from us, so thankfully he did not do that. To be imputed with the righteousness of means that we get to experience the gift of embodying the righteousness of God, otherwise there would be meaningless to be imputed with it. Someone wanting to become counted as being a doer of righteous works apart from becoming a doer of righteous works would metaphorically like wanting just the box that the gift of righteousness comes it but not its contents. Our salvation is not about being counted as being like Christ but about actually being made to be like him.

No, there is a significant difference between these two positions:

1.) Our salvation from not being a doer of the Law of God intrinsically requires us to choose to be a doer of it.

2.) Our salvation from not being a doer of the Law of God requires us to have first done enough works in order to extrinsically earn it as the result (works salvation).

The Bible repeatedly affirms 1 while denying 2 and the problem is that verses that deny 2 are commonly misused to argue against 1. The content of a gift can be the experience of doing something, such a giving someone the opportunity to experience driving a Ferrari, where the gift intrinsically requires them to do the work of driving it in order to have that experience, but where doing that work contributes nothing towards earning the opportunity to drive it as the result. We can't earn our righteousness, salvation, or eternal life even as the result of perfect obedience to the Law of God because it was never given as a way of doing that (Romans 4:1-5), but rather it was given to teach us what is intrinsically required in order to experience the gift of those things.

For example, in Psalms 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith alone.

In Titus 2:11-13, the content of our gift of salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, so doing those works in obedience to the Law of God has nothing to with trying to earn our salvation as the result, but rather God graciously teaching us to experience being a doer of those works is part of the content of His gift of salvation, which intrinsically requires our participation in order to have that experience.

In Hebrews 5:9, Jesus has become a source of eternal salvation for those who obey him.

In Luke 10:25-28, Jesus affirmed that the way to inherit eternal life is by obeying the greatest two commandments, and something that we inherit is a gift, so he was speaking about what is intrinsically required in order to experience the gift of eternal life, not about the way to be good enough to earn it as the result.

In Romans 2:6-7, Paul said that those who persist in doing good will be given eternal life, and in Romans 2:13, he said that only the doers of the law will be declared righteous.

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus said that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven in contrast with saying that he would tell those who are workers of lawlessness to depart from him because he never knew them, so the reason why our entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven requires us to choose to be workers of lawfulness is not in order to be good enough to earn our way there but because that is intrinsically the way know Jesus.
