I am he= the one sent by God= the Messiah---is what that verse is saying.
I have some questions if you're interested?
Acts 13:33,
God hath fullfilled the same unto us their children in that He hath raised up Jesus again, as it is also written in the second Psalm
thou art My Son this day have I begotten thee
Jesus is the Son of God.
How then is He not deity?
The Jews understood that claim to mean divine.
Not just the Jews Keiw 1.
Also the gentiles. The Romans understood that statement to be a claim of deity.
John 19:7-8,
- The Jews answered him we have a law and by our law He ought to die because He made Himself
The Son of God
- when Pilate(gentile) therefore heard that saying
he was the more afraid
Keiw 1, how is the Bible not claiming Jesus is God when the Jews very reason for having Him crucified is His claim of being the Son of God?
If that saying has nothing to do with deity why did Pilate understand it as being a claim of deity?
Jesus being the Son of God terrified Pilate!!!
So much so that he tried to release Jesus.
Remember the Jews were referred to as sons of God.
But Jesus being the Son of God held a different meaning.
Exodus 4:22-23,
- and thou shalt say unto Pharoah thus saith the Lord,
Israel is My son, even My firstborn
So, the Jews knew they were the sons of God.
Why did they accuse Jesus of claimg deity when He is referred to as the Son of God?
John 11:4,
- when Jesus heard this He said,
This sickness is not unto death but for the glory of God that the Son of God might be glorified thereby
