Are we told to worship Jesus or are we told to worship God?

"the ministry of Reconciliation" 2 Corinthians 5:19, is absolutely the Ministry of all who are born again.

I did respond to your original post, and then you responded by saying you didnt really read it..

So, yes, i responded, and it was just info,.... .. and not anything related to what you stated about it, previously.

Okay, you did respond. I just hate the way you do it. Because it doesn’t really relate to engaging with me personally and I probably hate that too, because I’m a selfish and needy person. It’s all good either way, cause if I can’t love someone who sees things differently who am I to say I even love God? :)

Jesus requires us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you. It’s being Christ-like.

Yo, what’s up Chris? Sometimes people dislike the the way people go about things. Doesn’t mean “ I literally hate, your stinking guts and hope that you die in a fire, because that’s what Yahweh wants.” That’s not from heaven. I hate the way you communicate with me. But I rather you live, and continue to be free in Christ, and liberty he brings.

So you are demonstrating the fruit of the spirit or the spirit of the world , the flesh ?

If you don’t understand where my boundary is crossed; you’ll never understand why it is; that sometimes people can go about something a certain way; while cutting you off completely; even (not saying anyone has) to claim that because of my actions, and the way I “speak or type on here” would be oh he not loving or whatever, and because of this or even doctrine claim I’m not a Christian anyway.

Telling you the truth of why I hate the way you communicate with me, or someone else. Isn’t lying to you…

By the spirit or the flesh? How can you tell? Because obviously your trying to make some type of issue just because of my own way of communicating to you; a problem.

I can pretend all day long, and be a great manipulator.

Oh I love you and care about you so much; all while inside wanting to hurt either myself or someone else due to situations.

Only Jesus truly holds me back from going down those roads these days; though I still make choices that can lead others, to be hurt if I’m not careful. The Holy Spirit has yet to leave my hurt due to my choices of continuing to have faith; even if our bond of relationship isn’t strong, I do fully trust God and his provisions.

My flesh can go all day pretending; but that kills the spirit…

Hate is a strong word and the bible speaks against hate, hatred of others.

miseó: to hate

μισέω

Transliteration: miseó
Phonetic Spelling: (mis-eh'-o)
Definition: to hate

HELPS Word-studies

3404
miséō – properly, to detest (on a comparativebasis); hence, denounce; to love someone or something less than someone (something) else, i.e. to renounce one choice in favor of another.

Lk 14:26: "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate (3404 /miséō, 'love less' than the Lord) his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple" (NASU).

[Note the comparative meaning of 3404 (miséō) which centers in moral choice, elevating one value over another.]

We know that hate means to love less, esteem less in the greek lexicons. It has the same meaning Jesus taught in hating ones mother/father to be His disciple. You love Him more than them, love them less than Him. Otherwise Jesus would be breaking His own law in the OT. Love God with all your heart and your neighbor. We are to love and respect our parents not hate them as the calvinist would teach unless they agree that hate means to love less.

God is love and Jesus is God He tells us and shows us what His universal love looks like and acts like as God Incarnate. He loves those who hated Him without a cause, He died for them, He prayed for them, He said we are to love our enemies because He loved and died for His enemies. Love not hate is the hallmark of a Christian.

Conclusion:
God is love and God is knowable and we are commanded to love others like God loves the world. It’s a sacrificial love and we are to die to self and look out for the interests of others above our own interests. To love the unloveable, the outcasts, those who hate us, our enemies , to bless them and not curse them. God never asks us to be or do something God is not.

Love, joy, peace, patience , kindness, long suffering , goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

And “ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails. “

hope this helps !!!

Well I hate the way you communicate with me sometimes, you’ll have to get over it. I know all about hatred. I don’t hate you and desire you to die…

There is a great difference, thanks! Hope this helps you understand cause if you gonna act like you don’t get upset and pissed off or something like hating how someone may communicate, or act by their actions…

You must be better than Jesus himself; He got pissed off at the Pharisees for all their misfortune of ways; and he told them about it.

It was up to them to change; or not change, @civic.

For the readers below:

Loving God is always connected to loving others. If you cannot or do not love others then you do not love God and are deceived. The greatest commandment Jesus answered was to love God with all you mind, heart, soul and strength and your neighbor. Jesus connected the love of God with loving others. He said the whole world will know you are My disciples by how you love one another. John takes it a step further and says if you don't love others then you don't love God either.

1 John 2:3-6
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

1 John 3:9-12
9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

11 For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous.

1 John 3:14-19
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

1 John 3:23-24
23 This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

1 John 4:7-14
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

1 John 4:16-21
16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19 We love, because He first loved us. 20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

I don’t care about all the rhetoric I just wanna get to the heart of the matter @civic. That’s why I don’t really read all your stuff you copy and paste of www.gotquestions.com. It’s just negating an issue to try to make me look like I can’t hate something. You’re wrong and I hope you get it, cause your not better than Jesus; and your not a perfect human being by your flesh; sir. It’s stupid you try to come in and deflect. Don’t you got something else to do beside try to make me look like a donkey? I am a donkey! And even Yahweh knows I can be a very mean donkey!

Okay, but your not better than anyone else.

So what are you looking for to communicate or to just regurgitate?

What biblical love looks like in the mirror. Paul defines love below and what it should look like in the Christians life

1 Corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Galatians 5:22-25
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

James 2
My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?6 But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?7 Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?

8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,”you are doing right. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

1 Peter 1- Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”
And this is the word that was preached to you.

1 Peter 2:8- Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

2 Peter 1- For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

In the above we can see Jesus, Paul, John, Peter and James are all saying the same thing in unison.

conclusion: God is love. God never asks us to do anything or be anything that is not about His own character. Its why Love is the Mountain Top in Theology. Its who God is within His own Being as Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Everything God is and does flows from His love as described above in the passages.

hope this helps !!!

Well God is love. But God can disapprove of one’s actions.

Hell remember when Jesus said depart from me I don’t know you?

Well I suppose he could still do that today. It’s not out of hatred… it’s out the knowledge of their heart.

Never let people manufacture a fake premise…

People can get angry and upset; the thing is to not let your anger go down with the sun because it can grow into a point which the desire to kill someone and murder can take place….

Anyone who tells you; you can’t get angry.

They probably get more angry than anyone else… especially when things aren’t going our own way.

Just a sexual person who says to another they are not sexual; can be sexual alone without their knowledge, just as another example.

5368 philéō (from 5384 /phílos, "affectionate friendship") – properly, to show warm affection in intimate friendship, characterized by tender, heartfelt consideration and kinship.

So below would be accurate :

Jesus: "Peter, do you love Me?"
Peter: "Yes Lord, you know that I love you."

Jesus: "Peter, do you love Me?"
Peter: "Yes Lord, you know that I have intimate friendship, heartfelt affection for you."

Jesus: "Peter, do you love Me?"

Here is the amplified bible and youngs literal which conveys the meaning.

Herbert William Magoun, for instance, argues there is, perhaps, a significance in the use of words “agape” and “phileo” in John 21:15–17. He defines the bounds of phileo as being that of love for a friend (such as that of David and Jonathan), a fellow countryman, or a member of one’s own fraternity or school. He defines the bounds of agape as being that of devotion, adoration, and benevolence; it is deep and pure and unselfish.

These distinctions in definition are close to those drawn by C.S. Lewis when he explores the “four loves”. The two loves that are of relevance here are that of friendship (corresponding with Magoun’s definition of phileo) and charity (corresponding with Magoun’s agape). david blynov

People sometimes try to explain the distinction between the words by saying that agape is divine love, while phileō is human love. There is truth in that slogan, but it’s not the whole story. God the Father loves the Son with phileō-style love (John 5:20), and many passages command Christians to love one another with agape-style love. In fact, there is much overlap between the words, and they can often be interchangeable. ezra project

There are, however, some distinctions between the two:

AgapePhileo

Used very little in secular Greek, but becomes the predominant word in the New Testament.

Primarily a matter of choice rather than emotions.

One-way love that can flow even toward someone who does not deserve or return it.

Used in secular Greek as the love of friends, which they considered the highest kind of love.

Often an emotional response to someone or something that appeals to you.

Two-way love that instinctively flows toward someone who returns your love.

I’m not worried about all this @civic.

Many people give philos love.

But Agape is where it’s at. It involves no feelings.
It’s just doing it.

One of the most popular of the biblical proverbs is Proverbs 10:12, “Hatred stirs up conflict, / but love covers over all wrongs.” Some translations read, “Love covers all offenses” or “all transgressions.” What does is mean that love covers all wrongs?

This proverb is an example of antithetical parallelism in Hebrew poetry. A close look at the contrast involved helps provide a better understanding. “Hatred” is contrasted with “love.” The “stirring up” is contrasted with a “covering over.” And “conflict” is what hatred is promoting, whereas love seeks to make peace by covering “all wrongs.” To provide an expanded paraphrase: “Hatred looks for a fight and refuses to smooth things over, but love desires peace between warring parties and will not be involved in provoking dissension.”

Love covers all wrongs, but the wicked find motivation from hatred or spite toward others. In contrast, the righteous are motivated by love. Hatred seeks ways to cause trouble, but love looks for ways to forgive.

This same proverb is quoted in 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” In this context, the proverb emphasizes that love is expressed through forgiveness of sins.

The idea of love being associated with forgiveness is found frequently in Scripture. One important example is found in 1 John 4:10, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” See also John 3:16 and 1 John 3:16. The work of Christ on the cross—the work of our forgiveness—was an act of divine love.

In our own personal relationships, we also show love in our forgiveness of others. One of love’s characteristics is that it keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5). Love has no list of how or how often it has been offended. Love forgives.

A related idea from Proverbs 10:12 is the concept of “covering” sins. This concept is communicated elsewhere in the Old Testament to describe God’s forgiveness of sins. For example, Psalm 85:2 reads, “You forgave the iniquity of your people / and covered all their sins.” In the New Testament, Romans 4:7 speaks of the blessedness of knowing God’s love and forgiveness: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”

James 5:19–20 says, “My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.” Again, the idea of “covering” many sins communicates the fact of a person’s sins being forgiven.

Our lives are to be characterized by godly love that forgives the sins of others. Our extending of forgiveness is motivated by the truth that God has forgiven our sin through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:32). How many times should we forgive? Up to seven times? That was Peter’s question in Matthew 18:21. Jesus’ answer: “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18:22). Where sin increases, grace increases all the more (Romans 5:20). Love covers a multitude of sins—and it keeps on covering.got?

Did you post the scripture where it says be angry but don’t sin? @civic.

““When you are angry, don’t let that anger make you sin,” and don’t stay angry all day. Don’t give the devil a way to defeat you. Whoever has been stealing must stop it and start working. They must use their hands for doing something good. Then they will have something to share with those who are poor.”
