World = US = John 3:16

@jeremiah1five

The children of Israel are under covenant with the God of Abraham.
The non-Hebrew "world" is NOT.

Wrong, its the non elect world which is not, and all believers that belong to Christ are under Covenant with the God of Abraham, jew or gentile Gal 3:16,28-29

16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

You making race an issue in covenant salvation against the word of God, race nor sex, social status are not conditions to be of Abrahams Spiritual Seed via Christ

It doesn't say believers only.
Um Pink's article did state kosmos means believers only in certain particular verses . Among which were John 12:47 and john 3:16

I made an example of John 12:47

John 12:47 (LEB) — 47 And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I will not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

context clearly shows any who do not believe are not judged because Christ did not come to judge the world.

His is a work based on a need to support his Calvinist theology which is not shared by any lexcicon.

and rebutted even by some of his own theological persausion

Even more telling is that Calvinists themselves do not agree with the opinion of their theological brothers that “world” should be limited to the “world of the Elect”. Note the words of eminent Theologian-New Testament scholar, D.A. Carson, hardly a theological friend of non-Calvinism, as he comments on John 3.16:

“I know that some try to take “world” here to refer to the elect. But that really will not do. All the evidence of the usage of the word in John’s Gospel is against the suggestion…More importantly; in Johannine theology the disciples themselves once belonged to the world but were drawn out of it. On this axis, God’s love for the world cannot be collapsed into his love for the elect” (The Difficult Doctrine of the Love of God, p.17).
J.C. Ryle, usually a well-respected, theological darling of many modern strict Calvinists, writes of making God's love for the world in John 3:16 into God's particular love for the Elect, these indicting words:

“For one thing, it seems to me a violent straining of language to confine the word “world” to the elect. “The world” is undoubtedly a name sometimes given to the “wicked” exclusively. But I cannot see it is a name ever given to the saints…The true view of the words “God so loved the world”, I believe to be this. The “world” means the whole human race of mankind, both saints and sinners, without any exception.” (Ryle’s Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Vol.3, p.156-157).
Perhaps most interesting of all comments on John 3.16, are made by him whose modern students have evidently focused too much on his theology and not enough on his Biblical commentaries. He writes clearly on the identity of the world in John 3.16:

“Christ brought life, because the Heavenly Father loves the human race, and wishes that they should not perish…And He has employed the universal term “whosoever”, both to invite all indiscriminately to partake of life, and to cut off every excuse from unbelievers. Such is also the import of the term “world”, which He formerly used; for though nothing will be found in the “world” that is worthy of the favor of God, yet He shows Himself to be reconciled to the whole world, when He invites all men without exception to the faith of Christ…”(John Calvin’s Commentaries, Vol.17, p.122-125).

Here's something that destroys the belief "world" in John 3:16 means everybody on the planet.

Jesus as High Priest is about to be crucified. In John 17 Jesus as High Priest does the two things a high priest under the Law is commanded of God to do as part of their function in the Tabernacle at the time of Moses.
The High Priest prays for the people of God IN COVENANT and offers sacrifices for the people of God IN COVENANT, and this Jesus did in John 17.

But Jesus prayed for Himself, for the twelve disciples, and for those who will become saved due to their testimony. But one thing Jesus is clear about is that He doesn't pray for the "world" (everybody on the planet.)
Um Jesus did pray for the world

John 17:21–23 (KJV 1900) — 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Aside from that, you just ignored the context of the passage John 3:14-19

John 3:14–19 (KJV 1900) — 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

God sent his son not to condemn the world, but to save the world. He in the world who believes is not condemned, and he in the world who does not believe is condemned.

This is the condemnation, light has come into the world. This cannot be believers for believers do not receive condemnation, only unbelievers do, so the world obviously has a reference to unbelievers.

as seen here in a parallel text

John 12:47 (KJV 1900) — 47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Any who hear and do not believe at this coming of Christ are not judged because he did not come to judge the world but save the world.

Obviously, the world has unbelievers in it and Pink is dead wrong

This is the core of Christianity: that God loved the world enough to come in human form—Jesus, who died for us, so that anyone who trusts in Him will be saved from sin. This is certainly the most well-known verse in the Bible. It is probably the best-known and most-memorized part of any holy text in human history. The verse is a one-sentence summary of the gospel: the subject line of the entire Bible. The verse also reflects the way the gospel's essential idea is clear, but there are layers of meaning and knowledge inside of it.

The opening phrase is traditionally translated as "God so loved the world that." This is typically understood to mean, "God loved the world 'so much' that…" That idea isn't entirely wrong, but the actual phrase means "God loved the world 'in this way,'" with emphasis on what God did, more than why. Jesus is an expression of God's indescribable love for "the world," meaning all of mankind (1 John 4:9–10).

The phrase translated as "one and only Son," or "only begotten Son" uses the Greek word monogenēs. This is a very precise word which John uses in other places in this gospel (John 1:14, 18; 3:18). The traditional English term "begotten" often makes people think of biology, but monogenēs does not imply it. The word literally means something of the same nature or substance. "In other words, the Son Man—Jesus—is of exactly the same divinity as God the Father. That makes this verse an important part of proving the biblical concept of the Trinity. In typical use, monogenēs is used to imply "the only of its kind" or "sole [only]," or similar ideas.

The life offered to those who believe in Christ is "eternal," from a Greek word meaning "never ending." The alternative to life in Christ is destruction: to "perish." This passage explains that the purpose of sending Jesus was our salvation (John 3:17), but also reminds us that those who don't believe are condemned (John 3:18, 36). There is no question that, according to the Bible, people can be saved only through faith in Jesus (John 14:6).

Eternal life has never been offered, its given to them the Father gave to Christ in election Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
It was promised to them b4 the world began Titus 1:2

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Salvation is a gift of God, to be saved you must accept it. and then you receive it.

Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Ephesians 2:8: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."

Titus 3:5: "He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit."

John 1:12: "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

To those who believe

hello

First you ignored the context of John 17

These men were already God's when given

John 17:3–8 (KJV 1900) — 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

and regarding Romans

Romans 6:17–18 (KJV 1900) — 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

They believed the doctrine delivered to them then were made free from sin

In other words they believed and then were saved

That's how it works 1st believe the gospel by faith, then you are saved.

You must except the gift then it is received.
Not in spiritual matters, a spiritual gift is received by it being given by God. When God gave the Gentiles the Spirit it was sovereignly given bestowed not offered Acts 10:44-47

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Later it is said to be given Acts 11 17

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

A person must confess with their mouth and believe in their heart, as Paul says in Romans 10:9, so the call is designed to put the person in a position to act and accept the gift of salvation. Paul made every effort to convince readers of Romans of the truth of the Gospel, knowing that some would believe while others would not.

God offers eternal life through Jesus Christ, and this gift is freely given to all who accept it.

Show me through Scripture in Genesis where the Abraham Covenant was made between God, Abraham, and Abraham's Hebrew seed any mentioning of Gentiles in his covenant. The original covenant is described in Genesis 12, 15, and 17. I don't see any non-Hebrew Gentiles in this covenant nor are they included in the Mosaic Covenant. And Saul's Galatian letter is written to Jews and Jewish Christians as you can (hopefully) see when Saul identifies to whom he is writing to by his mentioning the "schoolmaster" and the "Law." Gentiles were never under a "schoolmaster" nor were they ever included in the Mosaic "Law." You are misinterpreting Galatians 3:28-29. Saul is addressing Jewish Christians who are now Christ followers who have concern whether they are still in the Abraham Covenant now that they are Christ-followers. Saul says, "if you are Christ's, you are STILL Abraham's seed and heirs of the promises." Gentiles were never in the Abraham Covenant as the covenant extended to Isaac and Jacob and Jacob's twelve sons. Abraham and Sarah are blood-related. So was Isaac and Jacob. This is a family-covenant. God has made covenant with the family of Eber. You cannot get a non-Hebrew child from two Hebrew parents. That is biologically impossible.

Notice to whom Saul is writing to: Jews and Jewish Christians who are under a schoolmaster and the Law.

23 But before faith came, we [JEWS] were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our [JEWSA] schoolmaster to bring us [JEWS] unto Christ, that we [JEWS] might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we [JEWS] are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye [JEWS] are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you [JEWS] as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye [JEWS] are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye [JEWS] be Christ’s, then are ye [STILL JEWS AND] Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:23–29.

Saul is writing to Jews as Gentiles were NEVER under a "schoolmaster/Law" and never in any Hebrew covenant.
I don't know how many times I have to clarify this. Saul is writing to Jews vs. 23 "we Jews were kept under the Law..."

God sent his son not to condemn the world, but to save the world. He in the world who believes is not condemned, and he in the world who does not believe is condemned.
