Why People Are Saved

in the fall human beings lost the ability to believe for salvation. As fallen sinners, we are unable to move toward God.
Where is this in scripture, I mean specificically. not just some supporting idea? Where we lost the ability to believe for salvation?

That's the first time I ever heard that Eve received her name after the fall, interesting
Previously Adam had called her Woman, his reason given then, and God's post-fall-pre-exile pronouncement gave Adam reason to exercise faith as to what her role would be.

Gen 2:22-23 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. (23) And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."

Gen 3:16
To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you."

Gen 3:20
And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

Jesus is the Light of the world. John 8:12 He exhorted the Jews to believe in Him as the Light while they had the opportunity. But then, realizing their determination to reject and kill Him, Jesus went away and hid Himself from them.

They seem to have Lost the ability to get saved and murdering their savior seemed like a better idea.

Then there's this and it pretty much includes the whole world except for Noah and his family.

Genesis 6:5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually.

Doesn't seem like they were thinking about salvation.

Not in the sense that Jesus was preaching, but the continual oppression of Israel by foreign powers did create a desire for deliverance that necessitated an expectation of a deliverer. In Judaism, unregenerate Israel is still waiting for their Messiah.

Jer 23:5-8 Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will administer justice and righteousness in the land. (6) In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness. (7) So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when they will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of Egypt.’ (8) Instead they will say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel up out of the land of the north and all the other lands to which He had banished them.’ Then they will dwell once more in their own land.”

Act 1:6-8
Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" (7) And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. (8) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Yes they waited for him and they were expecting him and lo and behold they had him right in front of their faces. And the Pharisees plotted against him and made false accusations against him and the citizens yelled crucify him. So they had the ability to recognize and accept him but chose not to. Okay I get it.

As far as the Oppression of Israel by foreign powers... well that never would have happened had they just obeyed God. Something about them being a stiff-necked people, like my way or the highway. What amazes me is God brought them back from being scattered all around the world.
And he's not done with them.
