When You See JERUSALEM Surrounded By Armies, Luke 21

Good Morning,

Yes i have, therefore i was not certain on m/f since i cannot tell from name or avatar.
My Aunt Veronica was called 'Blacky' for her dark black hair and my other Aunt was called 'Blondy' because she was blonde.

1 Corinthian chapter 15 is detailing the First Resurrection = by the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here it is: 1 Cor 15:12-19

12But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is worthless, and so is your faith. 15In that case, we are also exposed as false witnesses about God. For we have testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead, but He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised.

16For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied more than all men.

@Red Baker - what part of this are you saying is not true???
She’s a little confused and seems to disagree with many things that are true in the Bible.

Which was my concern from the beginning = i see this often on these forums.

We should never be afraid of the scriptures and as JESUS has shown us we are to accept "It is written".

That is false.

The Roman army conquered Jerusalem; they destroyed the city and the temple.

Are you saying Jesus failed and was conquered by the Romans?
I guess Dan 7 goes rather unnoticed

Daniel 7:13–14 (ESV)
13“I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.
14And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

But maybe I'm wrong for thinking there are no longer Roman soldiers roaming around the country. And Zechariah spoke improperly saying:
Luke 1:71–74 (ESV)
71that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;
72to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,
73the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
74that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,

Again, you stated that Jesus conquered the Roman army in 70 AD.

THAT IS TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY FALSE.

THE Roman Empire continued until 425 AD.

The Roman army conquered Jerusalem; they destroyed the city and the temple.

Jesus did not fight against the Roman army in 70 AD.

The Olivet Discourse is not about the events of 70 AD.

The Olivet Discourse is about His coming and the end of the age which is found in Zechariah 14.

Behold, the day of the LORD is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,

But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Then the LORD will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.
Zechariah 14:1-4

You have to try and come up with ridiculous things because your preterist doctrine just came unglued because the prophecy of Zechariah 14 is still in the future.

The Ancient of Days is the Messiah—the King of kin

No. The Ancient of Days is God the Father.

The Son of Man is the Messiah; Jesus Christ the Son of God.

“I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.

I could have broken this into more refinement.

I'm not perfect with the history part but the nations that attacked Jerusalem and Christians are gone. Rome is gone too. Anyone that says the Roman Empire still puts soldiers in the land are not quite accurate.

@Red Baker - what part of this are you saying is not true???
I would be more than happy to discuss the two resurrections, which I'm doing so here:

This thread is dealing with some which we will be discussing on the above thread, this week. So, I'm forgoing from doing double work.

Allow me to ask both you and Selah, what faith/religion/denomination to you both hold to, or, are close to.

For now, I will say this: 1st Corinthians 15 is mainly address OUR resurrection. Jesus is the first Resurrection in the sense that death had no power over him, and HIS resurrection guarantee BOTH his people's spiritual and BODY resurrection.

1st Corinthians 15:51

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

While you two are on this chapter pray to tell me the interpretation of 1st Corinthians 15:29, being a Baptist as far as doctrine goes, it fits perfectly with our understanding, but pretty it will not with yours. Let me hear it.

1st Corinthians 15:29

“Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?”

Prove it..... I can promise you you will find NO support from such verse as we have given to you ~ especially so with 1st Corinthians 15:29.

The bottom line. The Olivet Discourse is about His Coming and the end of the age.

The resurrection of the dead in Christ is still to come; on the last day.

Jesus the Messiah IS God.

Yes. Amen.

God the Son, not God the Father.

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
Exodus 3:1-6

Moses was seeing the Son, not the Father.

Jesus says…
John 10:30 (NKJV) “I and [My] Father are one.”

Yes. He and the Father are one.

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 1 John 5:7

They are one in unity not one singularity.

The Father is God
The Son is God
The Holy Spirit is God.

These three are one.

We are one spirit with Christ.

This means we are one with Him in unity.

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17

1st Corinthians 15:29

“Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?”

@Red Baker Brother in Christ,

The Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ is crystal clear from the Gospel and from 1 Corinthians and from Revelation.

How is it you say there is "NO support" ???

And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable

“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
I am He who lives, and was
dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen -
Revelation 1:18
