Hello @civic,

There is more than one gospel (good news) referred to in Scripture: covering far more than salvation alone:-

* The gospel of the Kingdom (Matt. 4:23)
* The gospel of God (Rom. 1:1)
* The gospel of the Grace of God (Acts 20:24)
* The Gospel of the Glory of Christ: 'glorious gospel' = 'the good news of the glory.' (2 Cor. 4:4; 1 Tim. 1:11; Titus 2:13)

* Paul spoke of, 'my gospel' (Rom. 2:26; 16:25; 2 Timothy 2:8)
* The gospel of the uncircumcision (Gal. 2:7)
* The gospel of the circumcision (Gal. 2:7)
* The everlasting gospel (Rev.14:6)

Thank you

They all tie together which I outlined in several posts in the OP. Different aspects of the same gospel.

Hello @civic,

With respect, I think it is a mistake to describe these various titles as merely, 'different aspects of the same gospel'.
'The Everlasting Gospel' of Revelation 14:6-7, for example, is very different isn't it?

'And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven,
having the everlasting gospel to preach
unto them that dwell on the earth,
.. and to every nation,
.... and kindred,
...... and tongue,
........ and people,
Saying with a loud voice,
.. 'Fear God, and give glory to Him;
.... for the hour of His judgment is come:
...... and worship Him that made heaven,
........ and earth,
.......... and the sea,
............ and the fountains of waters.'

(Rev 14:6-7)

* This is not the gospel by which we were saved!

Thank you

so no one is being saved in that passage and God is lying by preaching the everlasting gospel and wasting everyone's time.

Christ is the King of His Kingdom. The gospel is about His Kingdom and how to be in that Kingdom. He came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom. Its the Eternal gospel for His eternal Kingdom.

everlasting gospel—the Gospel which announces the glad tidings of the everlasting kingdom of Christ, about to ensue immediately after the "judgment" on Antichrist, announced as imminent in Re 14:7. As the former angel "flying through the midst of heaven" (Re 8:13) announced "woe," so this angel "flying in the midst of heaven" announced joy. The three angels making this last proclamation of the Gospel, the fall of Babylon (Re 14:8), the harlot, and the judgment on the beast worshippers (Re 14:9-11), the voice from heaven respecting the blessed dead (Re 14:13), the vision of the Son of man on the cloud (Re 14:11), the harvest (Re 14:15), and the vintage (Re 14:18), form the compendious summary, amplified in detail in the rest of the book. hope this helps !!!

rev 14:6 is the same as Matt 24:14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The end comes right after the everlasting gospel is preached to all peoples, nations during the tribulation. Then Jesus returns as promised at His 2nd Coming in Matthew 24. It happens in Revelation 19 shortly after Rev 14.

hope this helps !!!

Hello @civic,

The gospel means, as you know, glad tidings, or good news. The news may vary, and yet still be good. The 'gospel of the kingdom', and the, 'gospel of the grace of God', all are preached in Scripture according to the dispensation to which they belong. In this present dispensation, it is only, 'the gospel of the grace of God,' which is to be preached (Acts 20:24). and he is accursed who now preaches a different gospel (Gal. 1:8).

'The gospel of the Kingdom' was preached by John the Baptist, by Christ, and by Peter, and the twelve (Matthew 4:23; 9:35); and it will yet be preached again in the Great Tribulation, after the Church of God has been taken away (Matt. 24:14). Then it will be replaced by, 'The Everlasting Gospel,' so called because it takes us back to the beginning, and tells of the earliest good news, or gospel, preached from God as Creator, and consists of the one great truth which was preached from the beginning.

* Now is the day of salvation, and not of judgement, so 'The Everlasting Gospel' cannot be preached now.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Hello @civic,

Why are you referring to this reference in Matthew, when I have already referred to it myself in the entry that you are responding to? Is there a reason for you doing so? :)

Hello there, @civic,

I believe that God says what He means and means what He says: and so, why would He not use the words, 'The Gospel of The Kingdom' in Revelation 14:6-7. instead of, 'The Everlasting Gospel', if that is what the angel was about to proclaim? No! We are told that the angel has 'the everlasting gospel' to preach, and then we are told what that gospel is:- 'Fear God and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.' This is not the gospel of the Kingdom!!

* It is the redeemed of Israel who shall preach, 'The Everlasting Gospel', when they take up their role as Priests unto God among the nations, following their repentance and acknowledgement of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King, before the end come.

Thank you

The gospel must go out to all , everyone before His Return . Both say the same thing in that regards. See the forest through the trees here. :)

Hi @civic
My first thoughts when reading the OP centred on your reference to the everlasting gospel proclaimed in Revelation 14. I would bring to your attention, although I'm sure you had known this previously, that the gospel in the context of those angelic messages encompassed all 3 angels, and all 3 distinct messages, not just the first. Therefore all 3 messages comprise 3 different aspects of the gospel, but is present truth for the church and the world specifically living in these last days.

There is One God
There is One Lord
There is One Sovereign
There is One Master
There is One Faith
There is One Baptism
There is One Jesus
There is only One way to God
There is One Savior

And there is One Gospel

Galatians 1:6
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

So since there is only One God, One Savior, One way to God through Christ, One faith, One baptism and One Gospel- there is only one way to be saved.

Paul defines that Gospel by which we are saved below:

1 Corinthians 15:1-19
Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.

Only One way to be saved, by One Person, One Gospel and One Faith. In Him alone. Scripture is really very exclusive here but inclusive to all that come to Him freely!

And Paul received this gospel directly from Christ by personal revelation

Galatians 1:11-12
I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

This gospel is Eternal !

Revelation 14:6
Then I saw another angel flying overhead, with the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation and tribe and tongue and people

Acts 4:12
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Jesus passed on the gospel to His Disciples. Its the same Gospel but Christ had not suffered, died, risen yet. The disciples didn't understand the Passion until after His Resurrection, they were in denial.

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand…. I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am.” — John 13:7,19

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. John 2:22

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. — Matthew 16:21

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!” — Matthew 20:17-19

After His Resurrection

He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. — Luke 24:25-27

He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.Luke 24:44-45

Are you teaching others the one true Gospel ?

Ones salvation depends upon the one true gospel !

The gospel is Christological or Christ centered. The message is about Jesus. So, the question becomes one of identity. Who is Jesus? Let’s see what Scripture declares about the identity of Jesus and the salvation message. We see in the opening of Matthews’s gospel that Jesus is identified as Immanuel which means literally that God is with us. In Luke’s gospel we see that Jesus was born the Savior of the world. In John’s gospel we read that the Word was with God and the Word became flesh. We beheld His Glory. We also read in the same gospel (meaning good news) that God sent His Son to be the Savior. Where did He send Him from? Jesus gives us the answer to the question in John 17:5. He was together with the Father before creation and shared His Glory which is Gods alone. Jesus also tells His followers why do you ask to see the Father? To see Me is to see the Father. The Father and I are One. Basically, He is telling them He is God, you are looking at Him. This is why the Pharisees tried to stone Him on many occasions for claiming to be God (see John 8:56-60)

Also, we see the His Apostles identify Jesus as God. Thomas in John 20:28. Paul in Romans 9:5, Titus 2:13. Peter in 2 Peter 1:1,11. Hebrews 1-2, Jude and John in 1 John 1 and 5:20. Also the entire book of Revelation.

Acts it declares there is no other name given by which men must be saved! Not the name of the Father, not the name of the H.S. but the name of Jesus who represents the Godhead.

So, the gospel is Christ centered and one must know in whom they are placing their faith in to be saved.

Can I place my faith in Paul and be saved?
Can I place my faith in Peter and be saved?
Can I place my faith in Mary and be saved?
Can I place my faith in the pope and be saved?
Can I place my faith in the Holy Spirit and be saved?
Can I place my faith in the Father and be saved?
Can I place my faith in a god and be saved?

The answer to the above is a resounding no according to Scripture. There is no other name by which men must be saved period, end of story.

So, one must know and understand who the gospel is about and what He did for us. He came from heaven as God( the Word was God John 1:1, the Word became flesh John 1:14) to earth as a man to die for the sins of the world. This is the gospel by which men must be saved. He rose from the dead by the power of the Godhead (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) together raised Jesus the man from the dead.

hope this helps,
I like the gospel presentation in this thread civic. You have provided a good Bible study for me to dig into.

yes the study of the gospel is a great one- there are many facets to the gospel yet it can be very simple as well. It all depends how deep one wants to dive into the study. There is only One Gospel but there are many facets to that same gospel. Some want to promote there are several gospels but that is not true. There is the true gospel and there are false gospels much like their are false teachings, false doctrines, false prophets and false christs,

There is 1 gospel you are right civic with many aspects to the message.

Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

There is no gospel of Christ, outside of Christ! For if even an angel preaches another he will be accused, yet many claim Paul's gospel as though he were NOT preaching Christ.
1Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

If one is following a man or woman prophet in obedience to their words, get out, it is a deception!

'And this gospel of the kingdom
shall be preached in all the world
for a witness unto all nations;
and then shall the end come.'

* It is the redeemed of Israel who shall preach, 'The Gospel of the Kingdom' again (Matt. 24:14 above), when they take up their role as Priests unto God among the nations, following their repentance and acknowledgement of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King, before the end come.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

PS. I repeat this message from reply#32, because of a mistake made in my last paragraph, which had to be corrected for truth's sake.

After John sees a vision of the 144,000 redeemed ones who “follow the Lamb wherever he goes” (Revelation 14:4), he sees three angels flying in midair. The first one “had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people” (verse 6). This is the only place in the Bible where the gospel is described as the “everlasting gospel” (KJV) or the “eternal gospel” (NIV).

The word gospel refers to the good news that Jesus Christ suffered death on the cross to obtain salvation for mankind and that He rose to life again, was exalted to the right hand of God in heaven, and awaits His return in majesty to consummate God’s kingdom. The fact that this message is “everlasting” is significant.

The vision in Revelation 14 in which the angel proclaims the everlasting gospel is a prediction of something that will happen in the tribulation. Before the seven final judgments—the seven bowls of Revelation 15–16—God will give all of mankind one last opportunity to turn from their sin and trust in Christ to receive His gift of eternal life. The angel broadcasts the everlasting gospel to the whole earth, “to every nation, tribe, language and people” (Revelation 14:6). No one is left out. The angel calls out in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water” (verse 7). After proclaiming the everlasting gospel through an angel, God will finish His work of judgment upon a sinful world.

The angel who proclaims the everlasting gospel is flying “in midair” (Revelation 14:6). The Greek word translated “midair” also means “zenith,” and that’s why other translations say the angel was flying “high overhead” (CSB) or “directly overhead” (NET). And the angel shouts the message with “a loud voice” (verse 7). The picture is of an angel in the highest possible place using the loudest possible voice to reach the maximum number of people with the good news of God’s salvation. God is appealing to mankind one final time to reject the lies of Satan and respond to the eternal truth of God.

The gospel is “everlasting” in that is an eternally unchanging message. False doctrines come and go, and new teachings are like wind and waves that toss the unsuspecting every which way (Ephesians 4:14). Especially chaotic and dangerous is the doctrine of the Antichrist and his false prophet in Revelation 13. Countering the lies and false teaching of the beast is the everlasting gospel in Revelation 14. The message of salvation through faith in Christ is eternal truth; it is as solid and unchanging as God Himself, and those who believe the gospel will reap everlasting benefits.got ?

off to mens discipleship this morning I'll be back in a couple of hours.

hope this helps !!!
