Were the Men of Sodom Homosexual?

During a bit of research, 101G have come to the conclusion that the men of Sodom and Gomorrah was not homosexuals, but murderer. the traditional view that has been held is that the men of the city Sodom was homosexual based primarily on the word, to "KNOW" them, found in Genesis 19:5 "And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them."

This term "KNOW" have been the branding iron for the stigma of homosexuality in the city of Sodom. but we suggest that the actual crime is revealed in the verses that followed later. when Lot refused to bring the two men (angels) out to the mob and offered his two daughters instead, the men replied, Genesis 19:9 "And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door."
101G believe the real crime is revealed in the phrase, "deal worse" which in Hebrew is
H7489 רָעַע ra`a` (raw-ah') v.
1. (properly) to spoil.
2. (literally) to ruin by breaking to pieces.

3. (causative) to make good for nothing.
4. (figuratively) to be good for nothing.
5. (physically, socially or morally) to be bad.
[a primitive root]
KJV: afflict, associate selves (by mistake for H7462), break (down, in pieces), + displease, (be, bring, do) evil (doer, entreat, man), show self friendly (by mistake for H7462), do harm, (do) hurt, (behave self, deal) ill, X indeed, do mischief, punish, still, vex, (do) wicked (doer, -ly), be (deal, do) worse.
See also: H7462

noticing definition #2. (literally) to ruin by breaking to pieces. and how the KJV can translate this word as " punish" this gives a different view of the crime of homosexuality.

in the definition, to ruin by breaking to pieces. the word ruin is synonyms with, demise, (which means a person's death). now the method of the death, by “breaking to pieces”, what do that means, it mean, demolishing, or dismantle, meaning “to take apart”. and in this process of demolishing, or dismantling someone, it is done in violence. and in definition #1. Spoil is synonyms with devour, and bruise and where have we seen this word "bruise" before? answer, Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." and the Hebrew term "bruised" means,
H1792 דָּכָא daka' (daw-kaw') v.
1. to crumble.
2. transitively, to bruise (literally or figuratively).
[a primitive root]
KJV: beat to pieces, break (in pieces), bruise, contrite, crush, destroy, humble, oppress, smite.
Compare: H1794

beat to pieces, break (in pieces)? as the KJV can translate it. this is the same language used in the phrase "Deal worse": H7489 רָעַע ra`a` (raw-ah') v. (see above)

so, the men of Sodom were to do VIOLENCE, or to do harm, or do hurt or to punish Lot and the two men, (angels) as the definition above clearly states. and NOT an act of Homosexual men. the tradition was based on the term "KNOW". but this is still reproved in the book of Judges, where we have a exact scenario found in Judges chapter 19 as to what happen with Lot. we urge one to read Judges chapter 19 and see an actual sexual attack, the real crime of "the men of that city". and it will be revealed by the term "KNEW" and not as in Lot case, to "KNOW"

so learn the difference between the terms "KNOW" and "KNEW" in the sexual arena. for KNEW is the past tense of KNOW. and see how both words reveal the real TRUE crime in each situation.

Connect the dots

Jude 1:7
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Going after strange flesh - Margin: "other." The reference seems to be to the unusual sin which, from the name Sodom, has been called "sodomy." Compare Romans 1:27. The meaning of the phrase "going after" is, that they were greatly addicted to this vice. The word "strange, or other," refers to that which is contrary to nature. Doddridge, however, explains it, "going after strange and detestable gratifications of their pampered and indulged flesh. Barnes

Romans 1
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.27;In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28;Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32;Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them

thanks for the reply, but the sin that Jude is referring to is more than a single occurrence as in Lot case. and angels don't have sex, they are IMMORTAL. and as for the fallen angels ... they are in chains reserved into judgment. which on that evidence refute your claim. and two, why give or offer one's daughters to homosexual ...... (MALES). that don't make sense. a homosexual male prefer another male. so, that claim is also refuted.

and strange flesh is not of another or "DIFFERENT" entity, as in angels, but the strange flesh is not of one who married to. other words fornication, not one spouse...... even Lot violated that by laying with his own daughters.

next.

I'm not interested in debating homosexual sins with you. Maybe someone else will be interested.

This is for the readers

Genesis 19 records the two angels, disguised as human men, visiting Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot met the angels in the city square and urged them to stay at his house. The angels agreed. The Bible then reveals the sin lurking in the Sodomites’ hearts: “Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them’” (Genesis 19:4–5). The angels proceeded to blind the men surrounding the house and urge Lot and his family to flee the city. The wrath of God was about to fall. Lot and his family fled the city, and then “the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities” (Genesis 19:24).

What was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah? According to Genesis 19, the sin involved homosexuality. The very name of that ancient city has given us the term sodomy, in the sense of “copulation between two men, whether consensual or forced.” Clearly, homosexuality was part of why God destroyed the two cities. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to perform homosexual acts on what they thought were two men.got?

Ezekiel 16:50 adds that a sin of Sodom was that they did “detestable things.” The Hebrew word translated “detestable” refers to something that is morally disgusting. It is the same word used in Leviticus 18:22, where homosexuality is an “abomination.” Jude 1:7 also weighs in: “Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion.” So, again, while homosexuality was not the only sin of Sodom and Gomorrah, it does appear to be the primary reason for the destruction of those cities.

Those who attempt to explain away the biblical condemnations of homosexuality claim that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality. That’s one of the sins—the men of Sodom and Gomorrah were certainly being inhospitable. There is probably nothing more inhospitable than homosexual gang rape. But to say God destroyed two cities and all their inhabitants simply for being inhospitable ignores some obvious details of the story.

hope this helps !!!

101G is not interested in debating homosexual sins with you. which is 101G point. there was no homosexual act in Genesis chapter 19.
101G replied to your response. with the scripture, and understanding ... Genesis 19:9 "And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door."

now look up the phrase " deal worse" and see what it means. using the Brown-Driver-Briggs dictionary, and one can find this definition online at bible hub… BDB Hebrew: 7489. רָעַע (ra'a') -- afflict

1. do an injury, hurt: absolute Genesis 44:5 (J), Isaiah 11:9 = Isaiah 65:25, Jeremiah 31:28; Proverbs 4:16; Proverbs 24:8; opposed to היטיב Isaiah 41:23; Jeremiah 10:5; Zephaniah 1:12 (all in prov. Phr. = do anything at all, compare רָע

2); הרע ל Genesis 19:9; Genesis 43:6; Exodus 5:22,23; Numbers 11:11 (J) Numbers 20:15; Joshua 24:20 (E) + 5 t.; with accusative of person Numbers 16:15 (J) + 4t.; with בְּ, 1 Chronicles 16:22 = Psalm 105:15 (with ל), Jeremiah 25:29; Psalm 74:3; with עִמָּדִי Genesis 31:7 (E); with על 1 Kings 17:20 bring evil upon; swear לְהָרַע, = to one's hurt, Psalm 15:4; Leviticus 5:4 (P); Participle = substantive לְבָכָם לְמֵרָ֔ע Daniel 11:27 (shall be) for mischief.

in definition #1. above under the heading, “do an injury, hurt” in the second definition it refers to Genesis 19:9.

in the Strong’s also at bible hub… Strong's Exhaustive Concordance: Hebrew 7489. רָעַע (ra'a') -- afflict

Strong's Exhaustive Concordance
afflict A primitive root; properly, to spoil (literally, by breaking to pieces); figuratively, to make (or be) good for nothing, i.e. Bad (physically, socially or morally) -- afflict, associate selves (by mistake for ra'ah), break (down, in pieces), + displease, (be, bring, do) evil (doer, entreat, man), show self friendly (by mistake for ra'ah), do harm,

(do) hurt, (behave self, deal) ill, X indeed, do mischief, punish, still, vex, (do) wicked (doer, -ly), be (deal, do) worse.

Notice it says, “properly, to spoil (literally, by breaking to pieces)” and it can be translated as “punish” which correspond with the Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Dictionaries of the Greek and Hebrew Testaments which 101G use.

Deal worse: it is the Hebrew words, H7489 רָעַע ra`a` (raw-ah') v.
it has NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY Homosexuality?

why not ADDRESS what 101G posted. thank you.

Readers who have eyes to see and ears to hear this is what Gods word declares below.

Genesis 19:4-5
4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

In the New Testament, Jude adds an important insight:

Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
Jude 7

They were punished for sexual sin along with the other sins of which they were guilty. Their destruction serves as a warning: God takes sexual sin very seriously.

LOL, LOL, Nope. Listen and Learn, Genesis 4:1 "And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD."
now think Fred, is this Present tense or is Knew here Past tense? but did he KNOW her before? and did the men in Sodom "KNEW" the two men, (angels) before?

do you now see your ERROR... now Read Judges and see the act there and compare it to Genesis chapter 19.

Every human being is called to receive a gift of divine sonship, to become a child of God by grace. However, to receive this gift, we must reject sin, including homosexual behavior—that is, acts intended to arouse or stimulate a sexual response regarding a person of the same sex. The Catholic Church teaches that such acts are always violations of divine and natural law.

Homosexual desires, however, are not in themselves sinful. People are subject to a wide variety of sinful desires over which they have little direct control, but these do not become sinful until a person acts upon them, either by acting out the desire or by encouraging the desire and deliberately engaging in fantasies about acting it out. People tempted by homosexual desires, like people tempted by improper heterosexual desires, are not sinning until they act upon those desires in some manner.
