Things that accompany Christ

Another thing that accompanies the Death of Christ 1 Pet 2:24-25

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

1 st this is only about the elect of God See 1Pet 1:2 and so Him baring their sins in His own Body, it was in order that, they being dead to sins ! Yes them He died for become dead to sins. Dead to sins in the greek apoginomai:
  1. to be removed from, depart
  2. to die, to die to anything

Now this is strictly in the legal sense, the elect legally have been removed from their sins, a detachment. Remember David said Ps 103:12

12 ;As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

again this is in a legal judicial sense at first.

The same Idea is in Heb 1:3 when the sins of the elect have been purged by the atonement work of Christ and removed the guilt of sin. Remember the word for purge katharismos:
  1. a cleansing from the guilt of sins wrought by the expiatory sacrifice of Christ

"That being dead to sin"
Gill writes:

that we being dead to sin; "to our sins", as the Alexandrian copy, and the Ethiopic version read; as all the elect are, through bearing their sins, and suffering death for them, so as that sin shall not be imputed to them; it is as though it never was; it is dead to them, and they to that, as to its damning power and influence; so as that they are entirely discharged from it, and can never come into condemnation on account of it, and can never be hurt, so as to be destroyed by it; nor by death, either corporeal or eternal, since the sting of death, which is sin, is taken away, and the strength of sin, which is the law, is dead to them, and they to that: in short, through the death of Christ they are so dead to sin, that it is not only finished, made an end of, and put away, but the body of it is destroyed, that it should not be served; which is an end subordinate to the former, and expressed in the next clause:

When He is caused to repent after the Spirit is put in them Ezk 36:27

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Repentance is a statute So Give God the Glory
Sorry, but the Spirit is put in after faith

Don't you pay attention?

John 7:39 (NASB 95) — 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Galatians 3:2 (NASB 95) — 2 This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

Galatians 3:5 (NASB 95) — 5 So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

Galatians 3:14 (NASB 95) — 14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

At the cross
At the Cross the elect were made dead to sin and thats legally. I will expound the rest of the verse. Also at the Cross 1 Pet 2:24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

The elect became at the Cross healed, not by their faith, but by His stripes meaning His death

Healed here is in aorist passive indicative, its a completed fact, passive voice the elect are made beneficaries of the healing, they arent active. And the word means:

  1. to cure, heal
  2. to make whole
    1. to free from errors and sins, to bring about (one's) salvation

This is legally, their sins are completely forgiven by the healing. Ps 103:2-3

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 ;Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

David had Faith given him in Christ and His finished work

No they cant, they cant please God at all Rom 8:8 Jesus gives repentance when He saves a person Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Correct, they can't please God at all in Rom 8:8, as in Acts 16:30 if they don't know how. ...

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Yes, Jesus gives repentance when they conditionally want it and learn how. ...

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

It is libertarianly freely conditioned on the person. ...

2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; ...
... *if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth*

It is not irresistible. ...

Acts 7:51
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

False, before the Spirit regenerates a person theyre in the flesh.
You have denied the word of God once again

Yes at the Cross, His Cross brought healing to the Sheep/Elect

Faith precedes the receiving of the Spirit and thus regeneration.

John 1:12–13 (NASB 95) — 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Believe, and you will become a child of God born of God.

At the cross, contrary to your theology
Yes at the Cross, with Christ brings all the necessary elements to save them He died for. The Legal Healing, then also the Spiritual Healing through regeneration which them causes 1 Pet 2:24

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Living unto righteousness accompanies Christ, so that becomes a Spiritual reality. That's living by Faith in Christ our Righteousness. That requires a New Spiritual life and nature, So Jesus provides that.

Barnes writes:

Should live unto righteousness - Though dead in respect to sin, yet we have real life in another respect. We are made alive unto God to righteousness, to true holiness. See the Romans 6:11 note; Galatians 2:20 note.

JFB writes

"That we should die to the sins whose collected guilt Christ carried away in His death, and so LIVE TO THE RIGHTEOUSNESS (compare Isa 53:11. 'My righteous servant shall justify many'), the gracious relation to God which He has brought in" [Steiger].

Matt Poole

That we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; another end of Christ’s death, the mortification of sin, and our being freed from the dominion of it, Romans 6:2,6, and being reformed to a life of holiness.

Coming with Christ is the deliverance from the dominion of sin and being Spiritually reformed

John Gill:

should live unto righteousness; live, and not die the second death, and live by faith on the righteousness of Christ, for justification of life, and soberly, righteously, and godly in this present evil world; which the grace of God teaches, and the love of Christ in bearing sin constrains to, and the redemption by his precious blood lays under an obligation to do; for those whose sins Christ has bore are not their own, but being bought with the price of his blood, they are bound to live to him who has a property in them, and a right to claim all obedience from them:

You entirely ignored this.

Christ was the propitiation for the sins of the whole world.

The whole world is not the elect.

And you can't deal with it
