The Genealogy of Jesus the Messiah

The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham:

  • The first thing to realize here is the importance of the first mention of Yeshua the Messiah here, the Son of David, who was the Son of David. There are some scriptures concerning, this child who was to be born who is the (Word of God John 1:1), and what he would be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There would be no end to the increase of his government or of peace (spiritual peace found in him,) on the throne of David, and would be over his kingdom, to establish it, and uphold it with justice and righteouness, from then on and forevermore. The zeal of Yahava of armies will Accomplish this (Isaiah 9:6-11.) Isaiah also wrote, in (Isa 11:1), Then a shoot will spring up from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

  • Another thing to realize was the high importance to the Jewish people to always continually, preserve the names of those whom had come before them, as a way to legitimately say they are from the tribes which they were from. (The twelve tribes are the Patriarchs, which came from Jacob.)

2 Abraham fathered Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, and Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers. 3 Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, and Hezron fathered Ram. (Ruth 4:18-22)

4 Ram fathered Amminadab, Amminadab fathered Nahshon, and Nahshon fathered Salmon. 5 Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, and Obed fathered Jesse. 6 Jesse fathered David the king. David fathered Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

  • Founded in 2 Samuel 11:27 When the time of mourning was over, David sent servants and had her brought to his house and she back his wife; then she bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of Yahava. Another chapter later, in verse 24, Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and went into her and slept with her; and he named him Solomon. Now Yahava loved him,

7 Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, and Abijah fathered Asa.

  • Founded in 1 Chr. 3:10 Now Solomon's son was Rehoboam, then Abijah with his son, Asa, his son, Jehoshaphat, his son,

8 Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat fathered Joram, and Joram fathered Uzziah. 9 Uzziah fathered Jotham, Jotham fathered Ahaz, and Ahaz fathered Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, and Amon fathered Josiah.

  • Founded in 1 Chr. 3:14 Amon, his son, and Josiah, his son.

11 Josiah fathered Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.

12 After the deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah fathered Shealtiel, and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel.

  • Founded in 2 Kings 24:14 Then he led into exile all the people of Jerusalem and all the commanders and all the valiant warriors, ten thousand exiles, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. None were left except the poorest people of the land. In Jeremiah 27:20, which Nebuchadnezzer king of Babylon did not take when he led into exile Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem---
13 Zerubbabel fathered Abihud, Abihud fathered Eliakim, and Eliakim fathered Azor. 14 Azor fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Achim, and Achim fathered Eliud. 15 Eliud fathered Eleazar, Eleazar fathered Matthan, and Matthan fathered Jacob. 16 Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.

  • Later on in the Gospel of Matthew, 27:17 So when the people gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Christ?, in verse 22 Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ? They all said crucify Him!"

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations.

What would you say if someone were to say to you that this is the genealogy of God?

I personally would say.... I'm thankful for people like you that remind me of just what an unthinkable miracle God did in becoming man.

As hard as I try to appreciate it, I lose sight of the immensity of the miracle far too easily.

Thank you for the kind words.

That’s a Win-Win proposition in my book.

Would you believe them?
Does it matter, if you love them anyway? You can do all kinds of things if you want to, and if you don't have love your nothing, according to Paul, towards his own self.

The Excellence of Love

13 If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may [a]glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.

Yes, it matters. Truth always matters.

@Matthias, you do not have to avoid the question by making this type of statement. You choose to do what you want to though it is fine. It's the Genealogy of Jesus, the man, who came down from heaven, who was the Word of God, born into flesh. However, how do you see it? What do you want to say? Do you love to bicker and fight and mumble and grumble? It is fun for you? Why do you seem to care just so much about it? I do not care so much about it. Are you happy with your answer? Are you happy with the response? The tongue is a deadly poison hard to control, and sets a whole forest on fire, with just a spark.

I didn’t avoid your question. I answered it.

I see “God has ancestors” as false teaching and blasphemy.

Do you love to bicker and fight and mumble and grumble? It is fun for you?

No and no.

Why do you seem to care just so much about it?

I‘m a pastor. (Retired).

Thank you for your response, listen I had a long day at work and it's best for me to go ahead and get off here. You and the others have a good rest of your night while you have it, and enjoy your sleep when you get there if that is what you want. All the best, thank you for your question. Sometimes it really is hard to genuinely love people, by denying the flesh and allowing Christ to do it cause I really wanna be so mean to you. Take care.

I disagree, with you.

Most of the world does.

As certain as it is that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, it’s just as certain that Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham is adoni in scripture and in life.

Does Shawn McCraney read Hebrew? If he does, you should ask him about it.

There is no need to respond. Unless you want to again.

My rule of thumb.

The only thing I would like to add is that if you do happen to speak with Mr. McCraney about the difference between adoni and adonai, I would be very interested in hearing what he has to say about it.
