Know thyself?

You can't even begin to know God until you are honest with yourself and see your heart for what it really is.

Can't skip the repentance and brokenness part.

So true. Your post is only 2 sentences but they could lead to a complete book. Like living a double life. So, what exactly is living a double life? At its core, it involves maintaining two distinct identities or personas, often with conflicting values, behaviors, or social circles. These separate lives are carefully compartmentalized, with the individual going to great lengths to keep them from intersecting. It’s like juggling two different versions of yourself, each one tailored to a specific audience or context.

Living a double life isn’t just about external behaviors; it involves a complex interplay of psychological mechanisms that allow an individual to maintain these separate identities. One of the primary tools in the double life toolkit is compartmentalization.

So it is a big relief to begin to "know God and start being honest with yourself". I call that being set free. "see your heart for what it really is."

"repentance and brokenness" fits right in.

Then the best part...

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18
