All believers are baptized into The Body of Christ

Never made this claim.

Irrelevant.

This is because in post 158 you asserted, "according to Fred's gospel one can disobey a direct commandment from the Holy Spirit and be saved by belief alone."

According to 1 Corinthians 15:34 a command given by the Holy Spirit reads to "stop sinning."

Are you saved but are still in disobedience to this command?

I'll be happy to answer your questions when you grow a backbone and answer mine.

According to 1 Corinthians 15:34 a command given by the Holy Spirit reads to "stop sinning."

Are you saved but are still in disobedience to this command?
No, I stopped willful sin.
Why do you not believe what the Holy Spirit revealed?
You think it's an impossibility to stop sinning.
So, you teach you don't have to obey direct commands from God like baptism, Acts 10:47-48.

Try again.

In terms of water baptism being necessary for their salvation you are simply seeing a mirage
I'm very gracious answering your questions.
Now answer mine.

I'll be happy to answer your questions when you grow a backbone and answer mine.

You wrote this in post 156,"Gave no answer if Cornelius had not been water baptized as he was commanded by Peter, would he be saved."

And what I previously wrote directly relates to that.

You can stop hiding now.

No, I stopped willful sin.

So you do so by someone else's fault other than your own? Get real.

Anyway, this still means you believe you still sin but just not in that area.

Got it.

Thus, you are still in disobedience to the command to "stop sinning."

No one is accountable to misinterpretation.
You've created your own private interpretation.

According to Paul's teaching I have obeyed all of Jesus' commandments.

You openly promote in your gospel to sin against God by dis-obeying His commands.
You actually believe what Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19-20 is impossible.
Which proves how confused you are.

You wrote this in post 156,"Gave no answer if Cornelius had not been water baptized as he was commanded by Peter, would he be saved."

And what I previously wrote directly relates to that.

You can stop hiding now.
This was unintentional.
I overlooked your answer.
I already apologized.
You have not forgiven me.
Instead you bring it back up in an attempt to make me look bad.
It only exposes your lack of good character and your hard heart.
Is this your answer to my question about Cornelius' salvation if he was not water baptized?

If so I apologize for saying you did not answer me.

Matthew 6:15,
- but if you do not forgive men their tresspasses neither will your Father forgive your tresspasses

Are you still trying to defame me, after I apologized for overlooking your answer?

op: all believers are baptized into the Body Of Christ?

You do realize of course, that this Truth applies to the 'believers' who were, with (and after) Paul,
saved By Grace Through faith. Thus the 'believers' At Pentecost were still under 'the Old economy'
of prophecy / Covenants / Law, and thus belong to the Nation of Israel's 'kingdom' assembly
(gr Ekklesia).
Not so,
Jesus' new covenant is now in effect beginning at penetcost in Acts 2.

Acts 2 is after the death, burial and ressurection of Christ,
Hebrews 9:16-17,
- for where a testament is there must also by necessity be the death of the testator
- for a testament is of force after men are dead otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth

Jesus' new testament gospel is in force in Acts chapter 2.

This is Fred's evidence of 1Corinthians 12:13 being Holy Spirit baptism.

Fred believes the order of events proves which baptism water vs Holy Spirit baptism saved Cornelius.

Notice every faith onlyist I've ever discussed salvation with uses Cornelius' conversion, Acts 10 and Acts 11.

They never use or mention Acts 8 or Acts 19.
These two conversions show us water baptism occurs first then the pouring out of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of the apostles hands occur afterwards.

Why dont they use other conversion stories?
Why did they insist on only using Acts 10 with Cornelius?

Simple, because other conversions have water baptism BEFORE recieving the Holy Spirit.
Does this prove water baptism is the baptism that saves?

No it does not!!!!

The order of which baptism occurs first is not proof of which baptism saves.
Only poor Bible students use this argument.

Acts 8:5-25,
- Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them
- and the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did

The gospel preacher Philip had gifts of the Holy Spirit.
He confirmed his gospel was from God by the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Something Fred cannot do even through Fred claims he was saved with the same outpouring of the Spirit that Cornelius and Philip could prove with miracles.

Acts 8:5-25,
12,
- but when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized(water 1st) both men and women

- then Simon himself believed also and when he was baptized(water 1st.) he continued with Philip and wonderful beholding the miracles and signs which were done(by Philip)

- now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God(gospel) they sent Peter and John,

15,
- who when they were come down, prayed for them that they might recieve the Holy Spirit
16,
- for as yet He WAS FALLEN UPON NONE OF THEM YET, ONLY THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS,

17,
- then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit

Now we know Fred's argue that which ever baptism comes first proves which baptism saves is Tomfoolery.
THE BIBLE DOES NOT TEACH WHAT FRED TEACHES.

Note: I want everyone who reads this to learn an important lesson about how to know which baptism is being discussed in the new testament.

Notice the people of Samaria were first water baptized.
What does the Bible call water baptism?

Verse 16 tell you,
- for as yet He(Holy Spirit) was fallen upon none of them only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus

So we've learned that any time baptism in the name of the Lord is being discussed.
It is water baptism NOT Holy Spirit baptism.

Does Philip's gospel include water baptism?
Yes it does.
Does Peter's gospel in Acts 10:47-48 include water baptism? Yes

Notice the same phrase used: Acts 10:47-48,
- and Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord...

What baptism according to Scripture is for the forgiveness of sins?
Acts 2:38,
- then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

Water baptism is for the forgiveness of sins.
Which baptism saved those in Samaria? Acts 8?
Which baptism saved the Jews on pentecost, Acts 2?
Which baptism saved Cornelius in Acts 10?

Notice:,
Acts 2:38. First water baptism then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Not before water baptism after.
Acts 8, First water baptism then received gifts of the Holy Spirit. Not before water baptism but after.
Acts 10, First gift of tongue speaking then commanded to be water baptized. First Holy Spirit then water baptism.
Acts 19:1-7, First water baptism, then received the Holy Spirit giving gifts. Not before water baptism but after.

THE ORDER DOES NOT PROVE WHICH BAPTISM SAVES.
Fred's argument is a poor argument.

Next Fred uses the Holy Spirit baptism given to 1st. Century Christians as evidence that 1Corinthians 12:13 is therefore Holy Spirit baptism.

He uses John 7:37-39 as proof that 1Corinthians 12:13 is the same baptism.

Problem with this interpretation is these are all MIRACULOUS gifts being given by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

So if 1Corinthians 12:13 is teaching that to be added to the one body which is the church, Colossians 1:18.

Then every christian who is added to the body in baptism recieve miraculous gifts from the Holy Spirit.

1Corinthians 12:13,
- for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body/church whether we be Jews or gentiles whether we be bond or free and have been all made to drink into one Spirit

In Acts 2:38 their repentance and water baptism gave them access to Gods grace,
- repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

1Corinthians 12:13 could be understood in water baptism one receives the gift of the Holy Spirit.

- all made to drink into one Spirit,
All are baptized into one body. All are given the same Spirit. All receive spiritual gifts from the same Spirit.
All are taught the saving gospel by the One Spirit. All of those added to the church therefore have received spiritual blessings by the same Spirit.
Paul is teaching unity among the brethren the church here in Corinth.
So by the One Spirit all are baptized and made to drink into one Spirit.

If - all made to drink into one Spirit is a reference to John 7:37-39 then all have today the same miraculous gifts the 1st. Century christians have in the 12 and 13th chapter of 1Corinthians.

I believe water baptism is the one baptism that adds us to the one body.
So, 1Corinthians 12:13 can teach on spiritual gifts but also the water baptism that puts us into the church can be for ALL sinners that have been saved and added to the body.
There is no need to explain how these gifts that accompany Holy Spirit baptism does not apply to everyone who is added to the body if the baptism in 1Corinthians 12:13 is water.
Um in the verse

1 Corinthians 12:13 (LEB) — 13 For by (en-greek) one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free persons, and all were made to drink one Spirit.

We have the verb baptizo, the Greek preposition en, and the noun Spirit

The Greek preposition en is translated as in, with, or by

The three words found in 1 Cor 12:13 also appear here

Matthew 3:11 (LEB) — 11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is more powerful than I am, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
John 1:33 (LEB) — 33 And I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water, that one said to me, ‘The one upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon him—this one is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

Mark 1:8 (LEB) — 8 I baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 3:16 (LEB) — 16 John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but the one who is more powerful than I am is coming, of whom I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Acts 1:5 (LEB) — 5 For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Acts 11:16 (LEB) — 16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

And that makes them the one and the same experience and there is no hint of water baptism in 1 Cor 12:13

The Greek preposition en is translated as in, with, or by
Yes the Greek prep. en has different meanings,
as you said it can mean, as in, with or by

Let's see how Greek Scholars chose the prep. en in its proper usage for 1Corinthians 12:13.

Therefore Paul is not teaching the Holy Spirit Himself is baptizing folks into the one body.
Only Jesus baptized with the Holy Spirit never the Holy Spirit Himself,

Mark 1:8,
- I indeed baptize you with water but Jesus shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit Himself is not baptizing the saved into the one body.
It is by one Spirit.
This passage is not teaching dry baptism.

The element is water in 1Corinthians 12:13 as it must be to not contradict all other passages that teach which baptism forgives sins and puts one into the body/church, Colossians 1:18.

Remember by the time Paul writes his letter to the Ephesians there is only one baptism that saves,
Ephesians 4:5,
- one Lord, one faith, one baptism

Cannot be two baptisms in Jesus' plan of salvation(gospel).

Clearly it is water baptism that forgives sins.
The great commission of Jesus Christ proves this to be true,
Holy Spirit baptism was never COMMANDED.
Holy Spirit baptism was never performed by men, only Jesus.
Holy Spirit baptism was never for the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 28:19-20, The great commission, the new testament gospel of Jesus Christ
- go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you

We learn by Jesus that He is commanding His disciples/apostles to go preach the gospel to all nations and baptize them.
Men only baptize other men in water.
Men(Jesus' disciples) never baptized anyone with the Holy Spirit.

So Jesus' new testament baptism must be water.
Many verses prove water baptism is when our sins are washed away,

Acts 2:38,
- then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

Acts 22:16,
- and now why are you waiting Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the Lord

Acts 8:38,
- and he commanded the chariot to stand still, and they went down both into the water both Phillip and the enoch and he baptized him

All of these water baptism's are done by men and are commanded,

Acts 10:47-48,
- can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have recieved the Holy Spirit as well as we
- and Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus...

Notice: all water baptism is in the name of Jesus.

Peter preached the great commission to Cornelius.
He baptized Cornelius in the name of the Lord.
Peter commanded this baptism just as Jesus did when He taught His great commission in Matthew 28:19-20.

The great commission, Jesus' gospel in Mark 16:15-16,
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, he that believes and is baptized will be saved; he that believeth not will be condemned

Again, Jesus is commanding His disciples(men) to preach the gospel and baptize.
This baptism is water, therefore the baptism that adds the saved into one body must be water baptism.

Acts 2:38-39 = Acts 2:47,
- praising God and having favour with all the people and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved

Remember the church is the one body,
Colossians 1:18,
- and Jesus is the Head of the body the church who is the beginning the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He might have the PREEMINENCE

There can only be one baptism in the new testament gospel of Jesus Christ that saves.
Ephesians 4:5,
- one Lord, one faith, one baptism

If not, then there can be more than one Lord more than one faith, more than one baptism!!!

Now, it is true there are different senses in how the Holy Spirit baptizes.
1Corinthians 12:13 does teach in a sense that the Holy Spirit baptizes but only through His revelation, His teaching of the gospel.

By comes from the Greek word en which has several possible meanings,
in, on, at, with, by, among (The Thayers Greek English Lexicon 209)

Since multiple possibilities exist, we must determine its meaning by the context in 1Corinthians 12:13.
By en the Spirit means the Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual cleansing, 1Corinthians 6:11,

- and such were some of you, but you are washed but ye are sanctified but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus(water baptism) BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD

The Spirit cleanses us not by His own baptism but through His revelation of the gospel, His teaching us of the one baptism.

He is the source of information where by we know how to be saved, He is the reveler of the gospel unto salvation.
1Corinthians 12:13 ; 1Corinthians 12:9

- to another  faith by the same Spirit to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit

1Corinthians 2:11,
- which things also we speak(apostles) not in words of wisdom which man teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit TEACHETH comparing spiritual things with spiritual

Therefore baptized by the Spirit means the Holy Spirit is our source of information concerning baptism,
NOT the element into which we are baptized. That element being water.

The Holy Spirit is the baptizer here, 1Corinthians 12:13 not the element into which people must be baptized.

Only Jesus baptized with the Holy Spirit, Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:7-8, Luke 3:15, John 1:25-34.
Yet the Holy Spirit THROUGH THE WORD, Ephesians 5:26, teaches people the baptism of 1Corinthians 12:13.
So the Holy Spirit baptizes us in the sense that He revealed Gods instructions about baptism.

- that Jesus might sanctify and cleanse it(the body) with the washing of water by the word(Holy Spirit teaching)

Jesus baptized people in water , yet not personally. Jesus baptized through teaching yet He Himself never personally baptized anyone.
In the same sense the Holy Spirit baptizes us, yet not personally but by the word He revealed, His revelation of Jesus' gospel.

John 4:1-2,
- When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
- Though Jesus Himself baptized not but His disciples

All Holy Spirit baptism gave miraculous gifts. It was a miraculous baptism.
So anyone who claims to be Holy Spirit baptized today must prove it by performing miracles.

Also anyone that teaches we are saved by Holy Spirit baptism but also practises water baptism is preaching and practicing two baptisms.

This violates Scripture and therefore is error, Ephesians 4:5,
One Lord, One faith, One baptism

Context

Ephesians 4:4–5 (NASB95) — 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

The one Lord baptizes with the one Spirit

Matt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Paul’s only use of the metaphor refers to reception of the Holy Spirit at conversion: “For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink” (1 Cor 12:13 NIV). Paul refers to the believers’ common experience of conversion and connects reception of the Spirit to conversion (compare Gal 3:3; 2 Cor 1:21–22; Eph 1:13–14; Rom 8:9). Peter’s statement in Acts 11:15–16 refers back to the simpler expression “received the Holy Spirit” in the narrative of Acts 10:47. Thus, the unified usage of the metaphor “baptism in the Holy Spirit” in the Gospels and Acts fits with Paul’s use of the phrase to refer to the reception of the Holy Spirit at conversion.1

Context

Ephesians 4:4–5 (NASB95) — 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

The one Lord baptizes with the one Spirit
Two baptisms in any persons personal doctrine today is ignorance of the word of God.
You do not understand Paul's writings.

Jesus in His new testament gospel commands His disciples to water baptize, Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16.
Paul water baptized in his ministry and was water baptized himself to wash away His sins.
1Corinthians 1:14,
- I thank God that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Gaius lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name

The one Lord baptizes with the one Spirit as you try to explain, Ephesians 4:5,
- One Lord, one faith, one baptism

Since we know that every single person who was saved by the gospel of Jesus Christ was water baptized.
We know that there are more than one baptism mentioned in the new testament.
You mentioned one baptism i.e. Holy Spirit baptism.
But obviously there is water baptism.
That makes two.
So Ephesians 4:5 must be one or the other or even another baptism mentioned in the new testament.
For instance the baptism of fire, mentioned by John, Matthew 3:11,
- I indeed baptize you with water unto repantance but Jesus who is coming after me is mightier than I whose sandals I am not worthy to carry, He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire

So those who preach Holy Spirit baptism but also water baptize today are violating Paul's teaching.
They do not understand Gods word.

Two baptisms today is not prohibited according to Paul.

Also anyone claiming to be Holy Spirit baptized must prove this by performing miracles.
Not one person in the new testament that recieved Holy Spirit baptism did not have miraculous power to perform miracles.

Not one passage in all the new testament teaches Holy Spirit baptism is seperate from miraculous gifts.
This teaching is made up with no Scripture to back up their claims.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit may be defined as that work whereby the Spirit of God places the believer into union with Christ and into union with other believers in the body of Christ at the moment of salvation. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was predicted by John the Baptist (Mark 1:8) and by Jesus before He ascended to heaven: “For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:5). This promise was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1–4); for the first time, people were permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and the church had begun.

First Corinthians 12:12–13 is the central passage in the Bible regarding the baptism of the Holy Spirit: “For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink” (1 Corinthians 12:13). Notice that we “all” have been baptized by the Spirit—all believers have received the baptism, synonymous with salvation, and it is not a special experience for only a few. While Romans 6:1–4 does not mention specifically the Spirit of God, it does describe the believer’s position before God in language similar to the 1 Corinthians passage: “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

The following facts are necessary to help solidify our understanding of Spirit baptism: First, 1 Corinthians 12:13 clearly states that all have been baptized, just as all been given the Spirit to drink (the indwelling of the Spirit). Second, nowhere in Scripture are believers told to be baptized with, in or by the Spirit, or in any sense to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This indicates that all believers have had this experience. Third, Ephesians 4:5 seems to refer to Spirit baptism. If this is the case, Spirit baptism is the reality for every believer, just as “one faith” and “one Father” are.

In conclusion, the baptism of the Holy Spirit does two things, 1) it joins us to the body of Christ, and 2) it actualizes our co-crucifixion with Christ. Being in His body means we are risen with Him to newness of life (Romans 6:4). We should then exercise our spiritual gifts to keep that body functioning properly as stated in the context of 1 Corinthians 12:13. Experiencing the one Spirit baptism serves as the basis for keeping the unity of the church, as in the context of Ephesians 4:5. Being associated with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection through Spirit baptism establishes the basis for our separation from the power of indwelling sin and our walk in newness of life (Romans 6:1-10; Colossians 2:12).
From Got?
So did the disciples receive the Holy Spirit, as Jesus breathed on them - and commanded them? John 20:22 If so. was that just temporary? Yes they did and "No", it was not temporary. If they did not receive the Holy Spirit, then why would Jesus breathe on them?

You said, "Second, nowhere in Scripture are believers told to be baptized with, in or by the Spirit, or in any sense to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit."

Acts 1:4-5 "Gathering them together, He COMMANDED them, NOT TO LEAVE JERUSALEM, but to WAIT FOR WHAT THE FATHER HAD PROMISED, 'Which,' He said, 'you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you WILL BE BAPTIZED in (or with) THE HOLY SPIRIT, not many days from now.' "

Then when that baptism came 10 days later in Acts 2:1-4, what does the scripture call it in verse 4? "They were all filled with the Holy Spirit ... ", so the baptism in (or with) the Holy Spirit, which Jesus commanded them to wait for, is synonymous with "being filled with the Holy Spirit." They already received the indwelling Holy Spirit in John 20:22. Now they were being "filled with the Holy Spirit" or "baptized in or with the Holy Spirit. Are we believers commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Yes we are. Ephesians 5:18
So, Biblically, believers can have the Holy Spirit permanently dwelling in them, but NOT necessarily have the filling of the Holy Spirit. But we are commanded to seek that, just as Jesus commanded His disciples to wait for that.
The verse in 1 Cor. 12:13 is the Holy Spirit baptizing us into the body of Christ, which is being born again. It is NOT the baptism in or with the Holy Spirit - which can occur simultaneously with salvation, as it did with Cornelius and his family, or it can happen later - sometimes long after salvation, depending on how accurately we are being taught.
The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ - that is, salvation - a circumcision of Christ made without hands.
After salvation, a man baptizes us in the name of the Trinity - or the name of Jesus.
Jesus baptizes us in or with the Holy Spirit, either at our salvation or later.

I was born again, but was not baptized in water until two weeks later. Had I known the Bible at that time, I would have tried to get baptized sooner. But I know, without a doubt that I was born again about two weeks before I was baptized in water.

Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost
Your beliefs are nothing more than assunptions.
Not one of these passages is referring to every single person from then to the return of Christ.

Al, of these passages are speaking to an audience that are specific to them alone.

For example Acts chapter 1 that you like to quote is only referring to the apostles that will be baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit.

Context matters.
We must read more carefully.
Acts 1:2; 4-5,
-Untill the day in which He was taken up after that He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen

- and being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem but,
wait for the  promise of the Father which, ye have heard of Me,
For John truly baptized with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days hence

Holy Spirit baptism is only promised to the apostles in Acts 1 and 2.
You have wrongly used these verses to include every person who is saved.

Continue to read on as more evidence will prove only the apostles received the promise from the Father that they will recieve power from on high.

Acts 1:13,14, 15
- and when they were come in, they went up into an upper room where abode Peter and James and John and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes and Judas the brother of James,
- These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with His brethren

- and in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said, the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty

Notice 120 are in the upper room.
But when the Holy Spirit baptism takes place in Acts chapter 2 only the men of Galilee recieve the Holy Spirit baptism.
Most teach all 120 get Holy Spirit baptized. This is because they are poor Bible students.

Acts 2:2-4; 7; 14,

- and there appeared unto them(the 120 or the apostles from Galilee? )
cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat upon each of them
- and they( 120 or only the apostles?) were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance

Most don't bother to carefully read Scripture.
The apostles were all from Galilee,
The 120 in the upper room were not all from Galilee,
Acts 1:11,
- which also said, Ye MEN of Galilee why stand ye gazing up into heaven...

Men and women were in the upper room.
But only the men of Galilee spoke in tongues.

Acts 2:1-11,
- and they were all(who is the all?l filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance
- now when this was nosied abroad the multitude came together and were confounded because every man heard them speak in his own language

- and they were all amazed and marveled saying one to another, Behold are not these ALL these which speak GALILAEANS

Proper reading of the text identifies the men of Galilee as the ones speaking in tongues.
The only logical conclusion is the apostles are the only ones from the 120 that have received Holy Spirit baptism.

Peter clearly identifies who is speaking in tongues in verse 11,
Acts 2:14,
- but Peter standing up with the eleven lifted up his voice and said unto them, ye men of Judea and all ye that dwell in Jerusalem be this known to you and hearken to my words
For these(eleven men) are not drunken as ye suppose seeing it is but the third hour of the day

Only the multitude heard these 12 men from Galilee speaking all their languages by the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

No one else recieved Holy Spirit baptism in Acts chapter 1 and 2.

Paul refers to the believers’ common experience of conversion and connects reception of the Spirit to conversion
A misuse of these verses trying to tie 1Corinthians 12:13 with all Christians receiving Holy Spirit baptism today.

No you don't.
Every single man that has ever lived can and will be deceived.

No one knows they are saved by feelings or an emotional experience they had.
The Scriptures teach we are know how and when we are saved by the written Gospel.

Seriously?

These were not apostles

Acts 11:15–17 (NASB95) — 15 “And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. 16 “And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 “Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”

nor were these

1 Corinthians 12:13 (NASB95) — 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

Acts 8:12–17 (NASB95) — 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike. 13 Even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed signs and great miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed. 14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit.

Acts 19:1–6 (NASB95) — 1 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.

Water is not a replacement for the Spirit

Baptism is putting an object into or on another for a transference of influence

Putting the Holy Spirit in a man makes them more like Christ and without the Spirit one does not belong to Christ

Romans 8:9 (LEB) — 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

Putting a man in water makes him wet and at best symbolizes cleanliness or innocence

Matthew 27:24 (LEB) — 24 So Pilate, when he saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but instead an uproar was developing, took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this man. You see to it!”

Jews baptized daily when coming from the market to remove ceremonial uncleanliness

Mark 7:1–4 (KJV 1900) — 1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. 2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. 3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. 4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

Seriously?

These were not apostles
Go back and read my post.
I was addressing your use of Acts chapters 1 and 2.
In both chapters only the apostles received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
You tried to give what was only promised to the apostles and teach all Christian's receive this promise in 1Corinthians 12:13.
That is a misuse of who the audience is promised Holy Spirit baptism in Acts 1 and 2.
These two chapters are not a parallel to 1Corinthians 12:13.

What Acts chapter 2 proves is not every born again christian in the 1st. Century received Holy Spirit baptism as you claim.

The purpose of Holy Spirit baptism was never for salvation as you claim.
Holy Spirit baptism of the apostles did not wash their sins away as they were already saved in water baptism,
Mark 1:4,
- John did baptize in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repantance for the forgiveness of sins

You are careless with the audience of who is being spoken to and who is receiving Holy Spirit baptism.

If all receive Holy Spirit baptism then to stay in context all those that receive HS baptism also are the same being baptized by John.
We know no one today is baptized by John the baptizer today.
So you leave the context when you claim all recieve Holy Spirit baptism when those told by John would receive HS baptism were in the context the ones being baptized by John himself.
Therefore to stay in context all must be baptized by John in water that are promised to recieve the Holy Spirit baptism.

Mark 1:1-8,
- and there went out unto him all the land of Judea and they of Jerusalem and all were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins
- and John was clothed in camels hair and with a girdle of a skin about his loins and he did eat locusts and wild honey
- and preached saying, there cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stop down and unloose
- I indeed have baptized you with water(here is the audience, they must stay in the context) but Jesus shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit

Who did John say was going to be baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit?
Context shows us those who were water baptized by John!!! Answer, Jews.

Only Jews at this time would receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2.

Therefore 1Corinthians 12:13 is both Jewish and gentile Christians receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore it is your error to use Acts chapter 1 and 2 as evidence for 1Corinthians 12:13 being Holy Spirit baptism.

The two do not equate.
You have left the audience and the context.

Of course. I wasn't speaking of Acts 10 and 11.
Here again you are trying to tie verses together that do not equate!

Cornelius received one gift from the Holy Spirit.
Then Cornelius was commanded to be water baptized by Peter.
Only one baptism saves, Ephesians 4:5.
Therefore we must determine which saved Cornelius.

Did speaking in tongues save the apostles in Acts chapter 2?
Was their Holy Spirit baptism for the forgiveness of their sins?

No!!! The apostles water baptism by John was for the forgiveness of their sins.
Therefore Cornelius's water baptism which is the new testament gospel of Jesus Christ, Matthew 2819-20.
Is the baptism that washed away Cornelius sins exactly as Acts 2:38 forgave the sins of the Jews on pentecost.

Mark 1:4,
- John did baptize in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins

Acts 2:38,
- Then Peter said unto them(jews) repent and be baptized(water) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ,
for the forgiveness of sins
, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit

Acts 10:47-48,
- can any man forbid water that these should be baptized which have recieved the Holy Spirit as well as we
- and Peter commanded them to be baptized((Matthew 28:19-20 ; Acts 2:38) in the name of the Lord...

The gospel of Christ has water baptism for the forgiveness of sins not Holy Spirit baptism.

Again you assume all born again christians received Holy Spirit baptism, not so.
They did all recieve water baptism in the name of the Lord.

Acts chapter 8, all believers were first baptized in the name of the Lord i.e. water baptism.
Saved.

Then the apostles came to Samaria to lay hands on the saved Christian believers to receive gifts of the Holy Spirit.

All the multitude that believed the gospel preaching of Philip were saved BEFORE the recieved the Spirit.
This chapter 8, disproves Holy Spirit baptism is for the purpose of salvation it does not help your position.

Acts 8:5; 6-24
- then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them
- but when they(multitude) believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized both men and women

Already had FAITH.
Already water baptized.
Already saved.

Now, later Peter and John both apostles come to Samaria to lay hands on the new believers in Christ to impart miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This proves Holy Spirit baptism is not the baptism that saves.

Acts 8:14-17,
- now when the apostles which were in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had recieved the word of God(gospel) they sent unto them Peter and John
- who when they were come down prayed for them that they(believers who were baptized) receive the Holy Spirit
- FOR AS YET HE(HOLY SPIRIT) WAS FALLEN UPON NONE OF THEM YET ONLY THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS

- then laid hands on them and they(those of faith) received the Holy Spirit

This also proves the moment you have faith in Christ one is not Holy Spirit baptized as many wrongly teach today.

Now notice also the gospel preacher Philip.
If you are not a good Bible student you have missed this very important occurence that took place.

TomL, you believe all Christians receive Holy Spirit baptism.
Philip was a born again christians.
That is why the Holy Spirit directed him to go preach in Samaria in Acts 8.
But did you notice he had no power to lay his hands on the saved to impart the Holy Spirit to them?

Why?
Why did Peter and John need to come to Samaria to lay their hands on them to receive miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit?

The reason is, this Philip was not an apostle.
He was only a new testament gospel preacher.

Only the apostles had the baptismal measure to lay hands on others to impart spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit.
This is why Philip did not lay hands on them but rather called for Peter and John to come and perform this work.

So we learn that just because you had miraculous gifts from the Holy Spirit, this did not mean you had the same power given to you as was promised to the APOSTLES ONLY BY JESUS.
Only the apostles had the power to lay hands on others to impart the Holy Spirit.

Luke 24:48-49,6
- and ye(soon to be apostles) are witnesses of these things
- and behold I send the  promise of My Father upon you(men of Galilee, Acts 1 and 2) but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye(soon to be apostles) be endued with  power from on high

- A specific work of the Holy Spirit was going to be poured out on the apostles that Jesus Himself will baptize them with.
It is only promised to them.
To claim it is promised to all christian's is sloppy interpretation of the text.

Mark 9:1,
- verily I say unto you(not everyone but those with Jesus)
that there are some standing here which shall not taste death till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power

That Power is the Holy Spirit poured out on the apostles in Acts chapter 2.
To receive this power from Jesus one had to be IN JERUSALEM on penetcost.
No way all those who got saved in the new testament were there that day.
And most certainly no one today that claims to have Holy Spirit baptism were in Jerusalem when this power was given.

Acts 1:8,
- but ye(men of Galilee) shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria

Now we see those who received Holy Spirit baptism will be witnesses in Judea, Jerusalem and Samaria.
Philip did not recieve this Holy Spirit baptism, this power and that is why he could not impart the Holy Spirit in Acts 8.

Philip did have the Holy Spirit but not what the Apostles received. Philip had miraculous gifts as Cornelius had the one miraculous gift of tongue speaking.
Both Philip and Cornelius were not promised the power from on high as the rest of the apostles were.
More proof?
Cornelius was not in among the 12 in Jerusalem on penetcost.
You had to meet these requirements in order to recieve the promise of Holy Spirit baptism as the apostles received it.

Many miss this detail that the Holy Spirit imparted different gifts to different people.
Instead they try to claim everyone received the promise of Holy Spirit baptism. No way!!!

Peter said of Cornelius,
Acts 11:16-18,
- then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that He said,
John indeed baptized with water but ye(apostles) shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit
- forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believeth on the Lord Jesus Christ, what was I that I could withstand God

The apostles when Holy Spirit baptized recieved all the miraculous power from the Holy Spirit.
This means they could perform all sorts of miracles.

But notice, Cornelius is said by Peter to have recieved ONE gift not gifts.
That one gift is the exact same miraculous gift the apostles had at the beginning when they first received Holy Spirit baptism.

Acts 2:3,
- and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it say upon each of them,
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Acts 10:45-46,
- and they of the circumcision were astonished as many as came with Peter because that on the gentiles also was poured out the GIFT of the Holy Spirit
for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God...

Cornelius only received one gift from the Holy Spirit.
That is what was the same with Cornelius and the apostles but Cornelius was not promised the same power that the apostles were given.
Not distinguishing the difference is sloppy interpretation of what, when and who received Holy Spirit baptism.

Having the apostles lay hands on you to receive the Spirit and miraculous gift or gifts is not the promise that the apostles received in Acts 2.

Not one person has the miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit today because only the apostles could impart the Holy Spirit miraculously by their hands.

The only exception to someone who did not need the apostles hands laid on them was Cornelius.
Only this example is the exception.
Not one other time in the entire new testament did this occur.

Paul's gospel preaching in Acts 19 proves the same.
The 12 could only receive the Holy Spirit miraculously by Paul's hands.

Acts 19:6,
- and when Paul had laid hands on them the Holy Ghost came on them and they spake with tongues and prophesied

No one today can perform miraculous gift or gifts therefore to claim Holy Spirit baptism today one must prove it like the apostles by performing miracles.

Putting a man in water makes him wet and at best symbolizes cleanliness or innocence
Modern mans made up private interpretation.

I'll let the Holy Spirit tell me what the purpose of water baptism is for.

Acts 22:16,
- and now why are you waiting, Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the Lord

1Peter 3:21,
- the like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us...

Um Cornelius and the gentiles were clearly baptized en the Spirit

Acts 11:15–17 (LEB) — 15 And as I was beginning to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as also on us at the beginning. 16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 Therefore if God gave them the same gift as also to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to hinder God?”

John clearly told Jews Jesus would baptize them with the Holy Spirit

Matthew 3:4–11 (LEB) — 4 Now John himself had his clothing made from camel’s hair and a belt made of leather around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the district around the Jordan were going out to him, 6 and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance! 9 And do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones! 10 Already now the ax is positioned at the root of the trees; therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is more powerful than I am, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Mark 1:4–8 (LEB) — 4 John was there baptizing in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And all the Judean region and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem went out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. 6 And John was dressed in camel’s hair and a belt made of leather around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And he was preaching, saying, “One who is more powerful than I is coming after me, of whom I am not worthy to bend down and untie the strap of his sandals. 8 I baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
as stated
For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink into one Spirit.

12:13 by one Spirit May be rendered “in one Spirit” or “by one Spirit.” The former creates the impression that the Spirit and the ensuing body of Christ into which believers are placed have some synonymous relationship. The latter has the Spirit as the instrument or mechanism through which believers enter the body of Christ.

baptized Probably refers to the baptism of the Spirit that empowers a believer for new life in Christ (compare Mark 1:8; John 1:33; Acts 1:5; 11:16)

Um Cornelius and the gentiles were clearly baptized en the Spirit
Never said he did not receive the Holy Spirit. He did.
Just because he recieved the Spirit doesn't prove the gift of the Spirit which in Cornelius' case was speaking in tongues, was what saved him.
You aren't representing what I teach.
Cornelius clearly did not receive the same baptism of the Holy Spirit as the apostles.
Since you think Cornelius received Holy Spirit baptism exactly as the Apostles.

Then prove Cornelius was the one Jesus  promised he was among the chosen that Jesus said would receive the  power from on high?

You are taking Gods promises and carelessly applying them to whoever you want to.
Do you apply Gods promise to Abraham to everyone?
I know you dont but here you claim a gentile has received the same promise the apostles were promised directly from Jesus' own mouth.

Answer this: Could Cornelius impart miraculous gifts to others by the laying on of his hands?
The only way Cornelius got exactly what the apostles received is if Cornelius had the same  power bestowed on him as was given to the apostles.

Luke 24:49,
- and  ye are witnesses of these things
- and behold I send the promise of My Father upon you but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be enduded with  power from on high

You had to be a eye witness of Jesus' ressurection in order to be an apostle.
You had to be an eye witness in order to be promised the power from on high that was going to be poured out only on the apostles where? Jerusalem on the day of penetcost

You are ignoring Jesus' own requirements that I've clearly given from Scripture that proves only certain people will qualify for the promise of Holy Spirit baptism.

Cornelius was not a candidate for this promise as he does not meet the requirements that God gave.

You think anytime anyone had the miraculous indwelling of the Spirit, that it was all the same thing.
You are over simplifying what specifically was given to only the apostles on penetcost in Jerusalem in Acts chapter 2.

Are you aware that the disciples/apostles already had miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit BEFORE they received the promise on high?

The Scriptures clearly show there is a distinction between different workings of the Spirit on man.

Notice the apostles were given the Spirit in Matthew 10.

- and when Jesus had called unto him His twelve disciples He gave them power against unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease

This is the working of the Spirit directly on the 12 disciples of Christ.
Was it Holy Spirit baptism in the same manner that they received in Acts chapter 2?
No, if it was they would not have needed to be Holy Spirit baptized in Acts 2.

Proof it was the Spirit working miracles through them in Matthew chapter 10.
Go down to verse 20,
- for it is not ye that speak but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you

What they have recieved in Matthew 10 is miraculous gifts of the Spirit.
Cornelius when the Spirit was poured out on him.
He received a miraculous gift of the Spirit.

When the apostles had the Holy Spirit poured out on them in Acts 2.
They received all power from the Spirit.
They could impart the Holy Spirit to others by their own hands.
Cornelius could not do this because he did not receive the same power from the Father in heaven.

Acts 10:38-41; 42; 44,
- How God(Father) anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him(Jesus performed miracles by the Holy Spirit)
- and we(apostles) are  witnesses of all things which Jesus did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem whom they hanged on a tree

Cornelius was not a eye witness of ALL things Jesus did included all the miracles all the teaching and witness of Jesus after His ressurection on earth.
Therefore Cornelius did not receive the same  promise the apostles received from Jesus on pentecost.

- NOT TO ALL THE PEOPLE BUT UNTO WITNESSES CHOSEN BEFORE GOD, EVEN TO US(APOSTLES) WHO DID EAT AND DRINK WITH JESUS AFTER HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD

How did Paul qualify to be an Apostle then?
How did Paul qualify to receive the exact promise and power from on high when he was not witness to all things Jesus had down during His earthly ministry?

Remember Peter just said, - Not to ALL THE PEOPLE BUT TO WITNESSES CHOSEN...

Not all people witnessed the ressurection of Jesus.
You had to be a witness of Jesus' ressurection in order to qualify to be chosen as an apostle.
Therefore Paul had to witness Jesus Christ directly after His death in order to qualify to become an apostle.

This is why Jesus directly appeared to him on the road to Damascus.
It immediately made Paul an eye witness to the ressurection of Christ.

Therefore he qualifies to receive the same miraculous Holy Spirit baptism that the rest of the apostles received.
This is why Paul had the power to lay hands on others and impart the Holy Spirit to them.

Cornelius could not do this, therefore he did not meet the qualifications to the promise given only to the chosen apostles.
Cornelius was not chosen to be an apostle so he did not need to have the same promise given to him.

Nowhere in the new testament will you find Christian's who have the Holy Spirit have the same abilities that the apostles were given by the Spirit. Cornelius only received one gift, tongue speaking.

Acts 10:44,45
- while Peter yet spake these words the Holy Spirit  fell on them which heard the word
- and they of the circumcision which believed were astonished as many as came with Peter because that on the gentiles also was poured out the GIFT of the Holy Spirit

The gift was the Holy Spirit imparting miraculous tongue speaking.
That's all Cornelius got.
I'm not denying the Holy Spirit was poured out on him.
I'm denying that he received the same promise as the apostles.
He does not meet the qualifications given.

baptized Probably refers to the baptism of the Spirit that empowers a believer for new life in Christ (compare Mark 1:8; John 1:33; Acts 1:5; 11:16)
Your source says 1Corinthians 12:13 is PROBABLY Holy Spirit baptism.

I'm not using a source.
I'm going by what the Bible teaches.

Your source is not even convicted that 1Corinthians 12:13 is Holy Spirit baptism. Only probably, meaning there could be another baptism discussed here.
At least he is honest.

I know for a fact that 1Corinthians 12:13 cannot be Holy Spirit baptism as only water baptism puts all the saved into the body of Christ.

When God saves us He adds us to His body which is His church.

Acts 2:38 = Acts 2:47 ; Colossians 1:18,
- praising God and having favour with all the people and the Lord added to the church daily such as were being saved

- And Jesus is the Head of the body, the church...

Water baptism was taking place in Acts chapter 2 with all the Jews who were being saved by Peter's preaching of the gospel.
It says nothing in Acts 2 of the Jews being water baptized that they also were Holy Spirit baptized.
Paul said only one baptism, Ephesians 4:5.
To add Holy Spirit baptism in Acts 2 for the 3000 that got saved that day is inserting a belief into the word that is nothing but speculation.

No one can quote any verse in Acts 2 that says the 3000 that were water baptized were Holy Spirit baptized.
It contradicts Paul in Ephesians 4:5.
Gods word says they were water baptized. So that is what took place.

Therefore the water baptism of the 3000 Jews on pentecost adding them to the church which is the one body.
This is the only baptism mentioned in Acts 2 that was preached from Peter's gospel sermon.
1Corinthians 12:13,
- for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body(church)

Acts 8 proves which baptism puts us into the one body.

Simon the Sorcerer was water baptized but never recieved Holy Spirit baptism.

Simon the Sorcerer was among the multitude that got saved in Samaria.
The Bible says he believed.
Therefore we must believe what the bible says.
We cannot say he was not a believer without denying what the word of God says about him.

Acts 8:12-13,
- but when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ they were baptized both men and women
- then Simon himself believed also, and when he was baptized he continued with Philip and wondered beholding the miracles and signs which were done
- now when the apostles which were in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had recieved the word of God they sent unto them Peter and John

The word of God says Simon believed and was water baptized.
I believe what the Bible says because I am a Bible believer not a Bible denier.
But many will speak against the word and claim Simon did not believe.

Acts 8:15-17; 18,
- who when they(apostles) were come down prayed for them(the saved multitude) that they might receive the Holy Spirit
- for the Holy was fallen on none of them, only they were baptized in the name of the Lord

TomL, believers are saved not lost.
Why have these saved believers not received the Holy Spirit if they are saved?
Its because water baptism washes away our sins not Holy Spirit baptism.
Their salvation was not dependent on them receiving miraculous power from the Holy Spirit.
Why don't you believe the word over your man made theology?

Acts 8:17-20
- then they(apostles) laid hands on them(saved believers) and they received the Holy Spirit
- and when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money

- saying give me also this  power that on whomever I lay my hands he may receive the Holy Spirit

- but Peter said unto him thy money perish with thee because thou has thought the gift of God may be purchased with money
- thou hast neither part nor lot in the matter, for thy heart is not right with God

Simon wanted the power to lay hands on others to impart the Holy Spirit.

Only the apostles received this because only the apostles were promised Holy Spirit baptism.
No other new testament Christian received the same promise.

Peter told Simon he had no part nor lot in the matter.
Why,
In this case Peter said because of the wickedness in your heart thinking this gift could be purchased with money.
But also Simon has no right to this gift because he is not of the chosen by Jesus who was promised this power that would be poured out on the apostles on pentecost.

Simon, like all Christians can sin against God.
And Simon made his living as a magician.
So the temptation to have this power was great with him, possibly thinking he could profit from it.
The people already thought of Simon as a great magician.
With this gift he really would appear great.
But his motives His heart was evil. Therefore he desired this gift for the wrong reasons.

God knew this, and this is why Peter rebuked him.
Peter then commands him to repent or perish in his sin.
Simon agrees and even asks the apostles to pray for him that these damnations do not come upon him.

This proves Christians can fall from grace, Galatians 5:4.
And one can be saved without any miraculous baptism taking place.

So by this example along with the multitude who got saved without any miraculous baptism.
We know that water baptism is the baptism the forgives sins not Holy Spirit baptism.

Many believe today that a miraculous baptism must take place because they believe regeneration aka born again, spiritual birth can only be miraculous.

This belief came from the false doctrinal teaching of reformed theology aka calvinism.

Total depravity, total inability to love God and give ones life to him is impossible in this theology.

The only way to be regenerated is to be given a new heart.
This can only be accomplished with a miraculous working of the Holy Spirit because of the individuals total depraved wicked sinful nature.

Thus the evolution of miraculous Spirit dry baptism as the baptism that supposedly saves.

All of this is unscriptual error.p

Man can chose to give his life to Jesus.
Man does have the ability to have faith in Christ from hearing the gospel, Romans 10:17.

Being born again is spiritual new birth but no miracle is required.

Miracles are the violation of Gods nature laws.

God violates the physical universal laws when He works miracles.

This is a violation of the physical.
Therefore miracles have no part in the spiritual.

Salvation is 100 percent spiritual regeneration.
Born again is 100 percent spiritual regeneration.

No natural laws here in the physical world need to be violated in order to save someone spiritually.

Salvation is a spiritual work of God not a physical work.

Just as there are natural laws created by God.
There are spiritual laws.
To be born physically requires no miracle.
To be born spiritually requires no miracle.

Spiritual rebirth is 100 percent spiritual in nature.

Only calvinism teaches miracles must take place because our physical nature can only be changed to believe in Jesus by a miraculous violation in changing our physical sinful nature.

God does work His power in giving us the new birth.
But He does not need to do any miracle to work His spiritual work on us.

God is not transforming our physical as calvinism teaches.
God is changing our current spiritual state to one that is justified.

Miracles do not take place today, 1Corinthians chapter 13.

All spiritual work of God takes place in water baptism where we contact the blood of Christ that washes away our sins.

Mark 1:4,
- preach the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins
Water has no power to cleanse the spiritual soul.

Therefore God is working through spiritual laws to cleanse us in water baptism.

Colossians 2:12,
- buried with Jesus in baptism wherein also ye are risen with Him through faith of the working of God who raised Him from the dead

Water baptism is also spiritual baptism just as Holy Spirit baptism is spiritual but it is also miraculous.

Water baptism is not natural or merely physical. What takes place in water baptism is spiritual.

Holy Spirit baptism always 100 percent in every case gives miraculous power.
So anyone whom claims to be Holy Spirit baptized today must prove it by miracles.
