Hello there,

I have been looking at the book of Ephesians, in my Bible, which is KJV, but entitled, 'The Companion Bible', and compiled largely by Dr. E.W. Bullinger. It has marginal notes and appendices which I find useful, but as with all of these things, care must be taken to check all things, like the Bereans of old (Acts 17:11).

What I particularly like are the structures of the books within it's pages, all of them have their structures displayed, so that you can see at a glance the subject matter laid out for comparison. At the back, in the appendix, No. 198 there is a structure of Scripture in it's entirety. This is the link to it, should you be interested:- https://levendwater.org/companion/append198.html

There comes to my mind a booklet, which is an introduction to the Structures of Scripture by a man named, Andrew H. Morton. It is entitled, 'The Scriptures Testify of Me'. Here is the link should you wish to follow it up. I can recommend it:-
https://www.bibleunderstanding.com/The_Scriptures_Testify_of_Me.pdf

* If anyone has anything to comment about the structures to be found forming naturally, by subject matter etc., I would like to hear what you have to say.

our Lord and Head,
Now risen and glorified,
And sat at God's right had.

Hello Chris,

The Companion Bible is the greatest study Bible on the planet, nothing compares to it! With the Massorah, the Structures, the appendixes and so much more and how Blessed are you to have one for yourself and to be searching the Scriptures and learning the lessons within it. While it is the text of the KJV, the text is arranged according to the subject structures in the side notes appearing on most pages of each chapter and at the beginning of each book as a whole.

From YHVH, through the Ancient Hebrews, through Abravanel, through Azariah de Rossi, through Robert Lowth, through John Jebb, through Thomas Boys, through E.W. Bullinger and others are we gifted to see and share the greatest proof of the One Author of Scriptures!

You're familiar with these names if you spent time in Bullinger's Figures of Speech used in the Bible and looked up Parallelism and Correspondence. Another great resource for understanding and learning the structures is in Bullinger's How to Enjoy the Bible. All of these are online and free to read and study.

It was given by God to Thomas Boys to help Parallelism mature into Correspondence and covering subjects and subject matter, to which God then gave to Bullinger and really opened up the study and subject culminating in the Companion Bible. Bullinger passed before it was complete but he was working on some amazing things!

Like the Correspondence of the Hebrew Bible showing in Appendix 1, here's a link to it, Appendix One - Hebrew Canon Structure

Have you ever considered the order of the Hebrew Bible aka Tanakh as Bullinger represents it in Appendix One and compared it to our English OT Bible order?

Hello Chris,

Discernible structures seem to begin in the form of couplets, precept upon precept, line upon line, the nursery rhyme of mockery in Isaiah 28 by those who wouldn't listen, the rebellious who didn't seem to care, yet even they said, precept answers to precept, line answers to line and hence it is so.

Robert Lowth in his Parallelism pursuit noticed the line answering to line in the relations between the lines as either Synonymous, Antithetic or Synthetic, perhaps we can say in a layman way that the correspondence is either the same, opposite or built upon, whether the simplification oversimplifies we'll have to see.

Ecclesiastes 3:2-8 may be easily discernible to see a structure, pattern, or a design as follows as the opposites (antithetic) are brought forth:

A time to be born,
................and a time to die

A time to plant
................and a time to pluck up that which is planted

A time to kill
................and a time to heal

A time to break down
................and a time to build up

A time to weep
................and a time to laugh

A time to mourn
................and a time to dance

A time to cast away stones
................and a time to gather stones together

A time to embrace
................and a time to refrain from embracing

A time to get
................and a time to lose

A time to keep
................and a time to cast away

A time to rend
................and a time to sew

A time to keep silence
................and a time to speak

A time to love
................and a time to hate

A time of war
................and a time of peace.

Hello @Love Fountain,

Your entries are a breath of fresh morning air to me, and I am drinking in the peace they have brought to my being as I read along. To find oneness is such a joy. Thank God.

I have the books you have referred to in my possession, they are much thumbed, and I am so grateful for them. I echo your every word in regard to their value.

I hope this will be the beginning of an acquaintance born of mutual respect and delight in the Scriptures that these books seek to convey.

Within the love of Christ our Saviour,

Hi Chris,

Hope all is well!

It's really great to find someone interested in the structures and thought you might like the following showing all four Gospels and their whole book subject structure outlines on one page with colors matching their corresponding texts. Makes a cool wall paper on the monitor too.

It's amazing to think how God through His Spirit wrote these texts through a tax collector, a young boy, a doctor and a fisherman. No way these guys would all write like these subject structure outlines reveal. It's amazing too that God still allows their characters and personalities to come through as well, like doctor Luke for example, his gospel has all kinds of medical words and terminology, where as Mark being a young boy his gospel is the shortest and most direct, just like a youngster, direct and to the point telling it like it is. Anyway, thought you might enjoy this below.

God Bless,

To whosoever will,

“The Structures… are the surest guide to their interpretation, and the strongest proof of their inspiration.

They give, not a mere Analysis evolved from the Text by human ingenuity, but a Symmetrical Exhibition of the Word itself, which may be discerned by the humblest reader of the Sacred Text, and seen to be one of the most important evidences of the Divine Inspiration of its words.

For these Structures constitute a remarkable phenomenon peculiar to Divine Revelation; and are not found outside it in any other form of known literature.

This distinguishing feature is caused by the repetition of subjects which reappear, either in alternation or introversion, or a combination of both in many divers manners…forming a telescopic view of the whole book are thus expanded, divided, and subdivided, until chapters and paragraphs, and even verses and sentences, are seen to form part of a wondrous whole, giving a microscopic view of its manifold details, and showing forth the fact, that while the works of the LORD are great and perfect, the WORD of the LORD is the greatest of His works, and is “perfect” also (Psalm 19:7).” - E.W. Bullinger, Preface to the Companion Bible

The PROPHETS

A - Joshua - "The Lord of all the earth" giving possession of the Land.
...........................Government under Priests.

........B - Judges - Israel forsaking and returning to God; losing and regaining
..................................their position in the Land. "No king." Bethlehem.
..................................Failure under Priests.

................C - Samuel - Man's king "rejected"; God's king (David) "established."

........................D - Kings - Decline and Fall under the kings.

........................D - Isaiah - Final blessing under God's King.

................C - Jeremiah - Human kings "rejected." David's "righteous Branch" "raised up."

........B - Ezekiel - God forsaking Israel, and returning in glory, to say for
..................................ever of His Land and city "YHVH-Shammah."

A
- Minor Prophets - "The Lord of all the earth" giving restored possession of
.............................................the Land, and foretelling final and unending possession.

“Every Word of God is pure; and His words, like all His works, are perfect. Perfect in order, perfect in truth, perfect in the use of number, perfect in structure.

We shall not be surprised therefore to find literary perfection as well as spiritual perfection. For there is perfection of literary form, as well as perfection of spiritual truth.

By its means the student is led to views and truths, and reflections which, without it, would never have occurred to him. And it is not too much to say that until the Correspondences of the Biblical Structure are duly recognized we shall never get a correct translation or a true interpretation of many passages which are to this day dark and confused in both our Versions, the RV as well as in the AV." – E. W. Bullinger, The Scope of a Passage may best be Discovered by its Structure, How to Enjoy the Bible

Hello Dearly Beloved,

Bullinger called the 7 church epistles, "the School of Grace" in the notes at the bottom of the structure that appears in the Companion Bible before Romans that shows the attached structure of all 7 church epistles. In his writings he kept the order we see in the attached because of manuscript order which he said was always the same. Even though Bullinger listed and titled the following structure as Introversion with the corresponding lettering as A, A, B, B, C, C , he still illustrated it as Alternation A, B, C, A, B, C, A, but he kept the lettering text type as illustrating Introversion except for Thessalonians where he kept with Alternation ordering.

Anyone ever notice this before?

7 church epistles structure from companion bible.webp

Now if we put the above 7 church epistles in the Introversion structure, we have the following and would need to apply a letter "D" for Thessalonians to truly be Introversion as follows.

GRACE

A - Romans
B - Corinthians
……C - Galatians
………D - Thessalonians
……C - Colossians
B - Philippians
A - Ephesians

GRACE

A - Romans -……..“Doctrine and Instruction.” The Gospel of God: never hidden,
………………….......…...but “promised afore”. God’s justification of Jew and Gentile
………………….......…...individually – dead and risen with Christ (1-8). Their relation
………………......……...dispensationally (9-11). The subjective foundation of the
……………......………...mystery (see page 1694).

……B - Corinthians -..“Reproof.” Practical failure to exhibit the teaching of
……………………….........…Romans through not seeing their standing as having
…………………….........……died and risen with Christ. “Leaven” in practice (1 Cor 5,6).

…………...C - Galatians -….“Correction.” Doctrinal failure as to the teaching of
………………….......……………...Romans. Beginning with the truth of the New nature
……………………….......………...(“spirit”), they were “soon removed” (1:6), and
………………………….......……...sought to be made perfect in the Old nature (“flesh”)
…………………………….......……(3:3). “Leaven” in doctrine (5:9).

………………….D - Thessalonians -..“Doctrine and Instruction.” Not only “dead
………………………………….........…………and risen with Christ” (as in Romans); not
………………………………….........…………only seated in the heavenlies with Christ
………………………………….........…………(as in Ephesians); but “caught up together
…………………………………….........………in the breath of life, so to be for ever with
…………………………………….........………the Lord”. In Romans, justified in Christ; in
…………………………………….........………Ephesians, sanctified in Christ; in
…………………………………….........………Thessalonians, glorified with Christ. No
………………………………….........…………“reproof”. No “correction”. All praise and
…………………………………….........……….thanksgiving. A typical Church.

…………..C - Colossians -...“Correction.” Doctrinal failure as to the teaching of
…………………………….......……Ephesians. Wrong doctrines which come from “not
……………………………….......…holding the Head” (2:19) and not seeing their
……………………………….......…completeness and perfection in Christ (2:8-10).

……B - Philippians -….“Reproof” Practical failure to exhibit the teaching of
………………………...............Ephesians in manifesting “the mind of Christ” as
………………………...............members of the one Body.

A - Ephesians -….“Doctrine and Instruction.” The mystery of God, always hidden,
………………….......…..never before revealed. Individual Jews and Gentiles gathered
………………….......…..out and made “one new man” in Christ. Seated in the
……………….......……..heavenlies with Christ.

Dearly Beloved,

"Preaching on another subject, Bishop Lowth truthfully and feelingly observed that "It pleased God, in His unsearchable wisdom, to suffer the progress of the Reformation to be stopped midway; and the effects of it to be greatly weakened by many unhappy divisions among the reformed."

The same may be said of the Law of Correspondence in the Structure of the Word of God, so wonderfully discovered and developed; and yet, needing to-day almost to be rediscovered, and certainly to be developed in its application to the whole Word of truth.

Parts of the world, remaining yet unexplored, are eagerly sought out without stint of labour or money. Would that the same zeal could be seen applied in the interest of this great subject.” – E.W. Bullinger, The Scope of a Passage may best be Discovered by its Structure, How to Enjoy the Bible

THE WORD was very close to being shared as one text! Bullinger's work in Appendix 1 Link Here of the Companion Bible showing forth the Hebrew Canon structure and subjects/subject matter along with how they correspond, is as he says in his writings, "rightly divided" and "the only correct order" for the Hebrew text.

How can we not consider if THE WORD in the Hebrew text is written and ordered in this way, why wouldn't YHVH our Father also write the same way in the New Covenant (NT) Greek text?

Wouldn't there also be Correspondence that appears throughout THE WORD as a whole from beginning to end, as Bullinger says, from Telescope to Microscope, as a whole text to the line answering to line?

Hello Dearly Beloved,

"It was reserved for Thomas Boys to raise the whole subject on to a higher level altogether, and to lift it out of the literary parallelism between words and lines; and to develop it into the correspondence between the subject-matter and truth of the Divine Word." - E. W. Bullinger, The Scope of a Passage may best be Discovered by its Structure, How to Enjoy the Bible

“…whether the intention existed in
the mind of the Penman who wrote, or only in the mind of the
Spirit who dictated
. In favour of the latter opinion it may be
urged, that as the Prophets do not appear to have always been
fully aware of the purport of that which they prophesied,
( 1 Pet. i . 11. ) so it is possible that the peculiar character of
the style in which they spoke was not understood by them to
its full extent that we discover a complication in some of the
arrangements
, which, though it may be exhibited in detail, can
hardly have been present, in all its parts, to the mind of the
Sacred Writer at the moment of composing : and that, perhaps,
it might be the Divine purpose to confer on the Scriptures
this latent quality of parallelism , in order that the discovery
of it in the latter ages of the Church might serve to
set a new mark of distinction on the Sacred Volume
, by investing
it with a peculiar and previously unknown character ;
and, moreover, by the light which it would throw upon the
sense of Scripture
, might furnish the people of God with clearer
attestations of religious truth than any they possessed before,
and also with more distinct and explicit confutations of error,
to silence the enemy and the gainsayer.” – Thomas Boys, Conclusion, A Key to the Book of Psalms

Hello Dearly Beloved,

The Hebrew Canon/Bible was translated into the Greek Septuagint, the first translation work only translated the first five books and kept the order we see in our English OT today that is consistent with the Hebrew Canon today as well. Then about a century later they continued to translate the rest of the Hebrew texts and it became the Septuagint as we know it today. This was done in Alexandria, Egypt and this is when they changed the order of the Hebrew texts that God ordered. This led to the Vulgate which led to our English Bible ordering of the Hebrew OT in our versions today, OT versions still with the same books as the Hebrew Bible but in different order. YHVH, our Father, through Bullinger's work in Appendix 1 Link Here of the Companion Bible corrects what was done in Alexandria, Egypt.

Look at your ordering of the OT in your Bible, which has the same Hebrew Bible books, if you fix the disorder that happened and put the 11 books of what is known as The Psalms/Writings section back together like in Appendix 1 Link Here of the Companion Bible you will see in our English OT that the Law and the Prophets are still in the same order as done a long time ago in the Hebrew Canon. Why is this important? It's important because the way that "they", whoever "they" are, brought disorder to the Hebrew Bible in forming our OT by taking the eleven books of the Hebrew Canon known as The Psalms/Writings and just inserted them into the Prophets to change what God had already ordered! It's important because that is what is done in our English NT versions too, the most garbled section of the NT is the 7 church epistles, Bullinger in his writings states his reasoning for not correcting the order of the 7 church epistles was because all manuscripts had the 7 church epistles in the same order and he started that dating with Codex Vaticanus, Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Alexandrinus, all with the Egyptian Alexandrian text type of Alexandria, Egypt! Not surprising indeed, especially since modern translations are justifying the removal of the very words of Yeshua/Jesus from their versions today because they are missing in the corrupt/incomplete Alexandrian texts, they delete or cast doubt on the woman caught in adultery, the last twelve verses of Mark, etc...most of which is easily proven wrong and corrected by the Subject Structures and other Figures of Speech Used in the Bible. Anyway, the 7 church epistles as a whole in the Companion Bible just before Romans is titled as Introversion and shown with the correct corresponding lettering (except Thessalonians) which are now shown correctly in post #8 of this thread and since.

The rest of the NT is ordered correctly when considering it's ordered as A, A, B, B, C, etc....

For example,

Our English Bible orders the following five NT books as follows.

1 Timothy
2 Timothy
Titus
Philemon
Hebrews

A, A, B, B, C as follows

The EPISTLES (LETTERS)

A - 1 Timothy
B - Titus
…...C - Hebrews
B - Philemon
A - 2 Timothy

So now if you corrected your OT Bible and put The Psalms/Writings back in order like it shows in Appendix 1 to see that the Hebrew Canon/Bible is correctly ordered again and that the Law and the Prophets were already correctly ordered in our OT once we fixed the disorder of the eleven books they inserted into the Prophets rearranging the Hebrew Bible, now do the same with the NT Greek texts.

We've already established the Greek sections of Grace and The Epistles/Letters from the NT ordering in the previous posts showing how they should be ordered in this thread prior so now we look at the books left they are as follows:

Matthew
Mark
Luke
John
Acts
James
1 Peter
2 Peter
1 John
2 John
3 John
Jude

Revelation

The next section we will illustrate to show in Correspondence of THE WORD as a whole is The Apostles which are A, A, B, B, C, C, D, D as follows :

We have above in the books that are left which from what we've ordered so far and the books bolded above when correctly ordered A, A, B, B, C, C, D, D and illustrated in Introversion as follows:

The APOSTLES

A - Acts
B - 1 Peter
…....C - 1 John
……....D - 3 John
………D - Jude
……C - 2 John
B - 2 Peter
A - James

The APOSTLES

A - Acts -…...Mission of the Holy Spirit, equipment of the Apostles
………….....……The ministry to the nation in Jerusalem and in the land
………….....…….The ministry to the dispersion apart from Jerusalem

…….B - 1 Peter - Keep the faith, be obedient, “it is written, Be ye holy; for
…………….......………I am holy.” “Exhortations in view of the end” “as to
……………….......……sufferings and glory.”

…………..C - 1 John - Keep the Fathers commandments, have fellowship with
……………………........…..the Father and Son. Love of Christ vs. Antichrist

………………...D - 3 John - “Witness as to walk in the truth” as “fellow helpers
……………………………........…..to the truth”. Give “Love to Strangers” “follow good”.

………………...D - Jude -.......“Contend for the faith”, beware of ungodly men and
…………………….....…….......…...their way, “remember the words spoken of the
………………………............……...apostles”, “building up yourselves on your most holy
……………………............………...faith praying in the Holy Spirit”, “Keep yourselves in
…………………….....….......……...the love of God”.

…….......C - 2 John -..Keep the Fathers commandments and walk in the truth
…………………..........……as His children. “Warning against deceivers” and
………………..…….......…“transgressors rejecting Christ’s teaching.”

…….B - 2 Peter - Add to your faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience,
……………………......godliness, brotherly kindness, charity; “Partake of the divine
………………......……nature”. “Exhortations” in view of Apostles, Prophets and
…………………......…the wicked”.

A - James - “Be doers of the word”, “Love thy neighbor as thyself”.
………….....…..“Moses’ Law. One Offence Breaks it.”

We are now very close to illustrating THE WORD as a whole!

THE WORD

A - Law
B - The Prophets
…...C - The Psalms(writings)
……..D -
…...C - The Epistles(letters)
B - The Apostles
A - Grace

We are left with New Covenant (NT) Greek texts as follows:

Matthew
Mark
Luke
John
Revelation

All we need is The Cornerstone to bring everything together and look what books we have left!

We have Behold your King, Behold my Servant, Behold the ideal Man, Behold your God, and the King of kings, Lord of lords!

Ephesians 2:18-22
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord, in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

I forget if I said this earlier...
Romans is actually Paul's attempt to restore the gentile Christians toward having a benevolent attitude toward Jews. So it would not be classifiable as Doctrine and Instruction. A problem with the attempts to add certain structures to scripture can end up being built on earlier misconceptions and thus creating an artificial structure. Also, the structures can become simple constructs of the human mind unless strong enough in scripture to be clear from many independent examinations.

1Peter 2:4-10
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
