In the Holy Bible, there is a story about God's creation of humans, and a world HE placed them in.
Gen. 2: 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, "thou shalt not" eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
The story goes on about how God make for Adam a bride, and they were both placed in this garden in which "another voice" who "Professed to know God" also existed.
Gen. 3: 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Notice how this "other voice" quotes some of God's Word.
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Notice that Eve understood the instruction perfectly. Like Adultery, it isn't the actual act, but the thought of the actual act that is the sin.
So everything is good here, Eve knows the instruction, she tells the other voice what the instruction is, and here is the deception.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
The reasoning for such a doctrine is irrelevant. Consider the implication of this philosophy, what the "other voice" in the garden is actually preaching.
"God lied to you". God's Word cannot be trusted "for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness". God's Law is against you. You are already immortal.
And where are Adam and Eve today? They are dead and buried. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.
Gen. 3: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Can God raise this same dust back to life again? According to this same Inspired Word of God, HE most certainly can, and has promised to do so for every human HE has created. But until HE raises them, they are "DEAD", just as HE told Adam and Eve.
Nevertheless, many religions who profess to know have promoted the philosophy of this "other voice" in the garden for centuries.
Now fast forward a few thousand years. God creates me and places me in a world in which many "other voices" exist who "Profess to know God".
In modern times we have a massive religious system made up of thousands of different religious organizations that preach the exact same thing, "that thou shall not surely die". These religions profess to know God, and call themselves "Christians, Jews and Muslims". They all have access and most have read what is known as the Inspired Word of God. And yet when it comes to God's teaching concerning the wages of sin being death, they reject this Word in favor of the other, more seductive voice, "Thou shall surely not die". They promote a religious myth that all men are born immortal, or as "many" on this forum preach, they have an "Immortal soul". Some spend immortality with God in Paradise, while others spend eternity in torture and fire. And they quote some of God's Word to convince as many as possible of this philosophy taught to them by the "other voice" in the garden.
But when a person actually reads what God has inspired to be written, it is clear that God didn't create billions and billions of immortal gods.
Ez. 18: 20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
This is the exact same instruction, given by the Exact same God, to Adam and Eve.
"The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him".
But there is Hope for us, just as there was for Adam.
21 But if the wicked will "turn from all his sins that he hath committed", and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. 23 Have I any pleasure at all "that the wicked should die"? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return "from his ways", and live?
30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: "for why will ye die", O house of Israel?
God, through the Life and death of His Son, has given us another chance to listen to and believe HIM, to "Yield ourselves to HIM", as Paul teaches, to "Live by" His Words, as Jesus teaches, and stop listening to the subtle, cleaver and seductive "other voices" in this world God placed us in. A voice that preaches, as Jeremiah warns, "They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, (Like Eve did) No evil shall come upon you. (You shall surely not die)
32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
