How and Why I joined here, and my sad Church story.

'Different strokes for different folks', coined by boxer Muhammed Ali in the 1960s. He was great at doing the "Ali shuffle"

As for me, I don't go to church to see people dance. I do love to worship God in songs of praise.

Modern Pentecostals believe that they can be entered by the holy spirit, which manifests itself by spontaneous dancing, collapsing and speaking in tongues. Dancing in the spirit refers to spontaneous dancing that occurs during a Pentecostal worship service.

I believe the Pentecostalism and the prosperity gospel are distortions of Christianity. The have no biblical merit or value.

I don't care if I get a lot of comments on this. Back when I was on the Christian Chat site, people wrote me lots of comments on my posts. It was too many for me to read and think about. I'm just glad that after all the work I had to put into writing this, that I finally got it posted. Now I can post it other places, if needed.
What other forums were you on. I'd like to check them out, thanks.

There are many war zones out there to choose from. I’ve been on 4 over the past 25 years. This was formed so the members/ posters had more freedoms and less restrictions and less “ lording “ moderators over the members. Lots of bullying / intimidation on other forums where there is a ganging up on those with other views.

If you look at our guideline section you will see what sets us apart.

I have been on many Christian Social Networking and Forums sites. Some of those places didn't survive.

I didn't keep an active record of all the former sites I've been on. These are the last two I was on before joining here.

civic found me on another site, but I wasn't on that site long enough to record them in my website block list. When civic found me, I was being told that I needed to repent for not going to Church. The two that I just listed wasn't good to me either. I dug them out of my website block list.

Most of Jesus' problems were with his 12 founding church members and other "Pastors", too. ;)

...this kind of person wants a one-way interaction where they just get attention.

YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission. The guy who started it, had a vision of young people going out like waves, into all the world sharing the Gospel. My "friend" is no longer a youth, but they a have program for people who are 27 years of age and up. We are in our 40's. The thing is, there are people in the Bible that heard the voice of God. Some Christians believe that once the Bible got completed that stuff like that is no longer necessary, so it doesn't happen. Other ones think all the gifts like that still happen today. I have lived my life in between the two extreme views, and have been happy to use common sense when it comes to these matters. But this debate isn't the big problem with YWAM. According to the articles I have read, they use the concept of hearing from the Lord as a control mechanism. "God told me that our team is to go to such and such place, and since I'm the leader you must obey, even if it is dangerous or maybe the wrong way to do things." Many Christians don't think of YWAM as being bad because lots of people have asked Jesus into their hearts through this ministry. But as one former YWAM'er said, "God can use anything but that doesn't mean it is the right thing to do." I agree with Him!
My daughter and son in law met at YWAM in England and married. They ended up in a divorce and our family was devastated over it as we had thought they were the perfect couple. They did missionary work for years overseas that was reaching people and they made a great team. When they got back to the states everything changed. They were much happier on the mission field overseas then chasing the american dream buying a home and both working long hours.

But I heard all the stories from them about YWAM.

That "dream" that turns human beings into "dollar bills".......

Merchandize is what we become in this "dream". It even exists in many "churches" today.
