Ephesians 2:8 salvation is the gift

Eph 2:8 affirms that believing Faith comes in the package marked Salvation by Grace, nothing about it is of ourselves!
Ephesians 2:8–9 teaches salvation by grace, received through faith, apart from works.
The verse emphasizes the source of salvation (grace) and the means of receiving it (faith).
It does not explicitly define the order of regeneration and faith.

Again, nothing about Eph 2:8 is of us, its all of grace The introductory phrase " for by grace are you saved through Faith" is perfect passive, no act of man nor nothing in man is involved. Man is passive and grace is active!

@FreeInChrist Faith
through which that grace is received.
You are not reading the word of God correctly.

It clearly said that we are saved by faith through grace and that (faith) is not of ourselves! We know Paul is not speaking of grace not being of ourselves, for that's a given, but many who teach works would think that faith is of ourselves (freewill) the means of one being born of God, but Paul denies that corruption of the scriptures in this one scripture.
Faith is the means through which that grace is received.
Then if that were so, then it ceases to be of grace!

Romans 11:5,6

“Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

Which is what you and others have reduced grace to!
The text does not explicitly state that faith follows regeneration;
Every grace scriptures does not need to do so, others will do that for us.
it simply affirms that salvation is God’s gift, received through faith.
Not received by grace, but "secured" by grace through Jesus' faith and obedience! The difference between the two, are the true gospel and another gospel by works, which falls under God's curse.

Paul is talking about salvation not of yourselves.

Faith is not the gift, salvation is, see below in Ephesians 2:8

1- salvation - being saved is by grace
2- salvation by grace comes by/thought faith ( genitive case )
3- salvation by grace does not come from yourself- this ( nominative case ) refers to salvation ( nominative case ) which is the gift by Gods grace.
4- salvation is the gift (nominative case )of Gods grace

conclusion: gift, salvation and this are all in the nominative case is in agreement therefor they point to salvation as the gift not faith.

Barnes the Calvinist Theologian agrees below- faith is mans responsibility.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
This is the work of God - This is the thing that will be acceptable to God, or which you are to do in order to be saved. Jesus did not tell them they had nothing to do, or that they were to sit down and wait, but that there was a work to perform, and that was a duty that was imperative. It was to believe on the Messiah. This is the work which sinners are to do; and doing this they will be saved, for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth, Romans 10:4.

conclusion: gift, salvation and this are all in the nominative case is in agreement therefor they point to salvation as the gift not faith.

And AT Robertson the premier NT Greek Scholar below :

For by grace (τῃ γαρ χαριτι [tēi gar chariti]). Explanatory reason. “By the grace” already mentioned in verse 5 and so with the article. Through faith (δια πιστεως [dia pisteōs]). This phrase he adds in repeating what he said in verse 5 to make it plainer. “Grace” is God’s part, “faith” ours. And that (και τουτο [kai touto]). Neuter, not feminine ταυτη [tautē], and so refers not to πιστις [pistis] (feminine) or to χαρις [charis] (feminine also), but to the act of being saved by grace conditioned on faith on our part. Paul shows that salvation does not have its source (ἐξ ὑμων [ex humōn], out of you) in men, but from God. Besides, it is God’s gift (δωρον [dōron]) and not the result of our work.11 A.T. Robertson, Word Pictures in the New Testament (Nashville, TN: Broadman Press, 1933), Eph 2:8.

hope this helps !!!

It does not explicitly define the order of regeneration and faith.
It explicitly has Faith following after having been made alive by grace in Vs 5 Eph 2:5

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)

The quickening here is the same as the new birth or being made alive. They weren't dead in sins any more. When man isnt regenrated he is dead in sin, in the flesh and cannot please God Rom 8:8

We must be regenerated unto salvation by the Holy Spirit

Since "FAITH" comes by hearing God's Word, it's a GIFT, and salvation is the result. Without God bringing Conviction of SIN, there'll be no salvation.

I agree that grace precedes our faith, but its still our faith , our responsibility to bvelieve the gospel, God doesn't believe for us, God opens our eyes/ears to understand the gospel message- Once we hear and understand the gospel via Gods grace its up to us to believe and receive the gospel ot reject the gospel. Thats on man to decide.

Faith comes before regeneration. if God must regenerate people in order for them to have faith, essentially “installing” faith in people, God would essentially be forcing people into salvation.

If God then must have had Jesus come in the flesh... it would seem the predestination got run over by those who did not want to give up their free will.

1- salvation - being saved is by grace
"grace" = UNMERITED favor.

2- salvation by grace comes by/thought faith ( genitive case )
Faith, the gift of God, not faith generated by the will of man.
Otherwise "grace" is not "unmerited".

3- salvation by grace does not come from yourself- this ( nominative case ) refers to salvation ( nominative case ) which is the gift by Gods grace.
However you clearly believe that FAITH does come from "yourself", thus negating the salvation being "not of yourself" and "grace" being "unmerited".

4- salvation is the gift (nominative case )of Gods grace
Yes, but ALL OF SALVATION, not just the "pseudo-grace" to accept our merit (faith) as sufficient.

Romans 9:16 [YLT] so, then -- not of him who is willing, nor of him who is running, but of God who is doing kindness:

Faith comes before regeneration.
Yes, but FAITH is also a gift of God.

Philippians 2:13 [YLT] for God it is who is working in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Both the DESIRE and the ABILITY TO DO start with God, that is why ... "we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." - Ephesians 2:10 [NLT]

God is addrerssing those who are already saved above which is different than the unsaved regarding faith.
