Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.

Jesus is our Lord, our Savior, and our friend. He is also our big brother and our protector. In today's promise, Jesus encourages us that He has given us the power to trample on serpents and scorpions so that nothing will ever hurt us. I remember when I was little, my big brother watched over me when we went to school to make sure no bullies would beat me up.

It was reassuring to know that I was being watched over and protected by my brother. Not only does Jesus walk with us in every step we take, but He lives in us and has empowered us to have victory over each onslaught from the enemy of our soul. 1 John 5:18 says... We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. (NIV)

May each one of us be more aware of the protection, brooding, powerful love of God that surrounds us today so we can be reassured that nothing will ever be able to harm us.

Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for the unlimited power I have through my eternal union with Your beloved Son, Jesus. I pray that I become more aware than ever that I don’t need to rely on my own resources to sustain me because the King of Kings and Lord of Lords lives in me, providing me with all the resources of heaven through His indwelling Holy Spirit.

13 It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil.

God's desire for us is that we love Him with all our hearts and all our souls. Jesus reiterated this same verse in the New Testament in Matthew 22:36-38 …- 36: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. (WEB)

God is after a mutual relationship with us, period. He is not looking for our good works, self-effort, or good intentions. He is after our love. In today's promise, we read that if we fulfill His dream for us by loving Him back with the love that He first gave to us (1 John 4:19), then we will not have to worry about things like food, clothing, and shelter.

In Matthew 6, Jesus encourages us to seek our Father's kingdom first and then everything we need will be added. It is that simple. If we love God with all our hearts and keep our eyes on Him, He will look after the rest of the details in our lives. May each of us have a more profound revelation of God's amazing love today and respond by simply loving Him back!

Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me first and demonstrating Your love by sending Your only begotten Son so I could be fully reconciled to Your heart. I pray that today I would be more aware of the flood of Your affection that is continually being poured out to me by Your Holy Spirit, so I can in turn love You back with the same love that You love me with. May the safety and security of this wonderful love relationship set my heart at rest so I can trust that You will provide all I need.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

By simply believing that God is who He says He is, and we are who He says we are, we overcome the world! Who is God? He is the Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Almighty God who happens to be our heavenly Dad. Who are we? We are His beloved children and joint heirs with our elder brother, Jesus Christ.

If we truly believe this simple truth, nothing can ever overcome us! We belong to God, and He belongs to us. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37) And if God is for us, who can be against us! (Romans 8:31)

His strength and power have already secured our victory. We just need to believe it, and through simple childlike trust, we will overcome the world through the power of God Himself that lives within us.

Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You that I am already an overcomer because Jesus has already overcome the world, and He is my big brother. Help me to walk in the new creation reality that I am a much-loved child of God and a co-heir with Jesus in His wonderful Kingdom so that I do not get overwhelmed by the brokenness that surrounds me in the orphan-hearted world system that tries to convince me that I am not who You say I am.

to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

1 John 4:16 says that God is love. The Triune God... Father, Son & Holy Spirit is the perfect expression of love, and we are caught up in the center of their relationship. Paul the Apostle prays that because of the indwelling presence of Jesus in our hearts, we will be rooted and grounded in love.

The life of any plant or tree is its root system. If its roots are shallow or not well developed, it is at risk of being blown away or dried up. But the deeper the root system, the stronger the plant or tree is. It is amazing to see how some trees can withstand hurricane-force winds just because they have a strong root system.

In the same way, the Spirit of the living God wants to root our hearts in the depths of His love. The more we become convinced of God's love (Romans 8:37), the more we will know that nothing can ever separate us from His love. The more we become convinced, the deeper our root system goes.

Storms won't be able to move us; trials won't cause us to question His love, and nothing in all the world will be able to rock this revelation of love rooted deep into the heart of our Father. May today be a day where this revelation of love goes even deeper than yesterday, for our Papa's mercies are new every morning.

Father, thank You for anchoring and grounding my heart in the vast depths of Your love through the Holy Spirit You have given me. I pray that these roots will grow deeper, wider, higher, and longer than ever before so that I might be filled to the full measure of Your fullness. I ask that You continue to lead me into the ever-expanding depths of Your eternal love and acceptance today because Your mercies are new every morning.

Let us acknowledge Yahweh. Let us press on to know Yahweh.
As surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear.
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth.”

God is faithful. He is always faithful, and we can count on Him in every situation. We don't have to give it a second thought. Today's promise encourages us that our God and Father will come to us as sure as the sun will rise in the morning. Even on days when the clouds cover the earth, His sun is still shining in the heavens. And when rain is needed, He showers His blessing upon the dry ground.

If you feel discouraged or disheartened today, if your circumstances are shouting that God is nowhere to be found, be encouraged! He is closer to you than you could possibly imagine. I pray you will know that He is faithful and He will come to you as certainly as the sun rises in the morning.

Father, thank You for Your loving faithfulness that is as dependable as every sunrise. Help me to trust in Your ability to keep all Your promises, rather than relying on my ability to believe each promise is true. For the truth is that even when I struggle with faithlessness, You will remain ever faithful because You are the very essence of a love that will never fail me.

according to all that he promised.
There has not failed one word of all his good promise,
which he promised by Moses his servant.

God is not a man who should lie. Every promise that He has made will come to pass because He is faithful to do all He has said He will do. In a world of broken promises and disappointing authority figures, it is easy to become cynical and mistrusting. Our negative life experiences with people can cause us to mistrust God in the same way.

In today's promise, we are reminded that God keeps all of His promises. Sometimes, we may need help understanding His ways, but He is always faithful to His Word. Trust is a massive part of the foundation of our faith. If we struggle to trust Him, we will struggle to believe what He says is true.

My prayer today is that God will restore childlike trust to each of our hearts in increasing measure so we will have every confidence that every promise our Papa makes will come to pass!

Father, thank You that every promise You have made will come to pass because You are the ultimate promise keeper and the One who is forever faithful. Help me to trust You in the times when I don’t see Your promises fulfilled in the ways that I hoped for, so that I can see the bigger picture of Your goodness that will be ultimately revealed in eternity.

I am God and Father over all creation.

Ephesians 4:6
one God and Father of all, who is over all,
and through all, and in us all.

The Apostle Paul tells us in today's promise that the Fatherhood of God is the absolute foundation of all that exists in the universe. To grasp the context of this promise, let's read Ephesians 4:4-6 in the World English Bible... 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.

In a world with so much instability, it is comforting to be reassured that there is only One God and Father of us all. Our God is the source of all things. While creating is something He does, Father is who He truly is. All life as we know it comes from His fathering heart.

The Apostle Paul says in Acts 17:28 that we are all His offspring through creation. He then explains how God wants us to become His children through the gift of redemption in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When everything else in life seems to shift around, be encouraged to know that there is one God and Father over all creation, and He loves for you to call Him your Abba!

Romans 8:15-17
15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! All fatherhood is derived from the one and only true Father God. The Amplified Bible says Ephesians 3:15 this way... For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name]. (AMP)

When God looks at you and me, He doesn't see nameless, faceless workers; He sees family. He is a loving Father who lovingly relates to His children—not workers, not servants, not slaves, but sons and daughters.

The more we begin to see that the Christian life is all about family, the more we will be drawn into His fathering heart. It is the most beautiful revelation when we know that our value to Him is not based on what we do but simply who we are.

My prayer today is that we would all have a more profound revelation that we belong to the family of God. Our very name comes from our heavenly Father. In John 8:35, Jesus said these words... Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. (NIV)

May we all know we have a permanent place in our father's family where we will belong forever!

Father, I thank You that You see me as Your beloved child, one who belongs in Your family forever. I pray that the revelation that I am part of the biggest, best family in the universe will set my heart at rest so I don’t have to feel that I need to prove my value to You. May the eyes of my heart be opened so I can see myself through the lens of Your eternal affection for me in Christ.

Promise #339:
I am your God and you are the sheep of My pasture.

Know that Yahweh, he is God. It is he who has made us, and we are his.
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Today's promise reminds us that we are God's people, the sheep of His pasture. The Bible makes many references to us being sheep. Jesus said in John 10:27 that His sheep hear His voice and will not follow a stranger. In Psalm 23, we read one of the most celebrated passages that tells us that the Lord is our shepherd.

I am not an expert on sheep, but from what I know about these animals, they depend on their shepherd to lead and protect them. All they have to do is listen for his voice and follow wherever he goes. They are not required to make decisions for themselves or manage their lives. They live under the watchful care of a shepherd who they know would lay down his life for them if it came to that.

In a world system that celebrates independence and self-sufficiency at every turn, this might offend us. We don't want to be led—we want to lead! Yet in Romans 8:14, we read that those who the Spirit of God leads are the very children of God.

We were never created to carry the world's weight on our shoulders. We have a Great Shepherd, Lord, and Savior who has already done that for us. All we have to do is listen for His voice and follow Him wherever He goes.

Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that You never required me to live a life separate from You. All You have asked of me is to simply follow the leading of Your Holy Spirit as I listen for the voice of my Great Shepherd, Jesus, as He leads and guides me beside still waters. I pray that I would find rest for my soul as I simply yield to Your gentle leading in the decisions that need to be made today.

He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom.
He will gently lead those who have their young.

In yesterday's promise, we discussed the benefit of having a loving Shepherd lead and guide us. Today, we want to continue that thought with an amazing illustration of God's love, which comes from Isaiah 40:11. In this passage of Scripture, we see a very intimate picture of how God sees us as His little lambs.

He is the Great Shepherd who feeds, carries, and leads us into greener pastures. If you struggle to feel God's nearness, I would encourage you to meditate on this Scripture and picture yourself as a little lamb needing to be picked up. God uses many illustrations throughout the Bible to help us comprehend how He feels about us.

A little lamb is helpless, defenseless, and utterly dependent on its shepherd, just like we are! I pray that God will give each of us the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation today (Ephesians 1:17) in greater measure so that we will know that our God and Father carries us in His arms just like a shepherd carries a little lamb.

Father, I thank You that in Your eyes, I am just a little lamb, helpless and dependent on You. I pray that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation would open my eyes to this simple truth so I don’t feel the pressure to be more than You created me to be. I ask that today I would have a greater awareness of Your loving embrace that holds me close to Your heart.
