365 Promises

Promise #324:
I will give you power over the enemy and nothing will hurt you.

Luke 10:19 (WEB)
Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.

Jesus is our Lord, our Savior, and our friend. He is also our big brother and our protector. In today's promise, Jesus encourages us that He has given us the power to trample on serpents and scorpions so that nothing will ever hurt us. I remember when I was little, my big brother watched over me when we went to school to make sure no bullies would beat me up.

It was reassuring to know that I was being watched over and protected by my brother. Not only does Jesus walk with us in every step we take, but He lives in us and has empowered us to have victory over each onslaught from the enemy of our soul. 1 John 5:18 says... We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. (NIV)

May each one of us be more aware of the protection, brooding, powerful love of God that surrounds us today so we can be reassured that nothing will ever be able to harm us.

Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for the unlimited power I have through my eternal union with Your beloved Son, Jesus. I pray that I become more aware than ever that I don’t need to rely on my own resources to sustain me because the King of Kings and Lord of Lords lives in me, providing me with all the resources of heaven through His indwelling Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #325:
If you love Me with all your heart, I will provide all you need.

Deuteronomy 11:13-14 (WEB)
13 It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil.

God's desire for us is that we love Him with all our hearts and all our souls. Jesus reiterated this same verse in the New Testament in Matthew 22:36-38 …- 36: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. (WEB)

God is after a mutual relationship with us, period. He is not looking for our good works, self-effort, or good intentions. He is after our love. In today's promise, we read that if we fulfill His dream for us by loving Him back with the love that He first gave to us (1 John 4:19), then we will not have to worry about things like food, clothing, and shelter.

In Matthew 6, Jesus encourages us to seek our Father's kingdom first and then everything we need will be added. It is that simple. If we love God with all our hearts and keep our eyes on Him, He will look after the rest of the details in our lives. May each of us have a more profound revelation of God's amazing love today and respond by simply loving Him back!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me first and demonstrating Your love by sending Your only begotten Son so I could be fully reconciled to Your heart. I pray that today I would be more aware of the flood of Your affection that is continually being poured out to me by Your Holy Spirit, so I can in turn love You back with the same love that You love me with. May the safety and security of this wonderful love relationship set my heart at rest so I can trust that You will provide all I need.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #326:
My children will overcome the world through their faith.

1 John 5:4 (WEB)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

By simply believing that God is who He says He is, and we are who He says we are, we overcome the world! Who is God? He is the Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Almighty God who happens to be our heavenly Dad. Who are we? We are His beloved children and joint heirs with our elder brother, Jesus Christ.

If we truly believe this simple truth, nothing can ever overcome us! We belong to God, and He belongs to us. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37) And if God is for us, who can be against us! (Romans 8:31)

His strength and power have already secured our victory. We just need to believe it, and through simple childlike trust, we will overcome the world through the power of God Himself that lives within us.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You that I am already an overcomer because Jesus has already overcome the world, and He is my big brother. Help me to walk in the new creation reality that I am a much-loved child of God and a co-heir with Jesus in His wonderful Kingdom so that I do not get overwhelmed by the brokenness that surrounds me in the orphan-hearted world system that tries to convince me that I am not who You say I am.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #327:
I will root your heart in the depths of My love.

Ephesians 3:17 (WEB)
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

1 John 4:16 says that God is love. The Triune God... Father, Son & Holy Spirit is the perfect expression of love, and we are caught up in the center of their relationship. Paul the Apostle prays that because of the indwelling presence of Jesus in our hearts, we will be rooted and grounded in love.

The life of any plant or tree is its root system. If its roots are shallow or not well developed, it is at risk of being blown away or dried up. But the deeper the root system, the stronger the plant or tree is. It is amazing to see how some trees can withstand hurricane-force winds just because they have a strong root system.

In the same way, the Spirit of the living God wants to root our hearts in the depths of His love. The more we become convinced of God's love (Romans 8:37), the more we will know that nothing can ever separate us from His love. The more we become convinced, the deeper our root system goes.

Storms won't be able to move us; trials won't cause us to question His love, and nothing in all the world will be able to rock this revelation of love rooted deep into the heart of our Father. May today be a day where this revelation of love goes even deeper than yesterday, for our Papa's mercies are new every morning.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for anchoring and grounding my heart in the vast depths of Your love through the Holy Spirit You have given me. I pray that these roots will grow deeper, wider, higher, and longer than ever before so that I might be filled to the full measure of Your fullness. I ask that You continue to lead me into the ever-expanding depths of Your eternal love and acceptance today because Your mercies are new every morning.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #328:
I will come to you as certainly as the sun rises and the spring rains fall.

Hosea 6:3 (WEB)
Let us acknowledge Yahweh. Let us press on to know Yahweh.
As surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear.
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth.”

God is faithful. He is always faithful, and we can count on Him in every situation. We don't have to give it a second thought. Today's promise encourages us that our God and Father will come to us as sure as the sun will rise in the morning. Even on days when the clouds cover the earth, His sun is still shining in the heavens. And when rain is needed, He showers His blessing upon the dry ground.

If you feel discouraged or disheartened today, if your circumstances are shouting that God is nowhere to be found, be encouraged! He is closer to you than you could possibly imagine. I pray you will know that He is faithful and He will come to you as certainly as the sun rises in the morning.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your loving faithfulness that is as dependable as every sunrise. Help me to trust in Your ability to keep all Your promises, rather than relying on my ability to believe each promise is true. For the truth is that even when I struggle with faithlessness, You will remain ever faithful because You are the very essence of a love that will never fail me.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #334:
Every word of every promise that I have made will come to pass.

1 Kings 8:56
“Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel,
according to all that he promised.
There has not failed one word of all his good promise,
which he promised by Moses his servant.

God is not a man who should lie. Every promise that He has made will come to pass because He is faithful to do all He has said He will do. In a world of broken promises and disappointing authority figures, it is easy to become cynical and mistrusting. Our negative life experiences with people can cause us to mistrust God in the same way.

In today's promise, we are reminded that God keeps all of His promises. Sometimes, we may need help understanding His ways, but He is always faithful to His Word. Trust is a massive part of the foundation of our faith. If we struggle to trust Him, we will struggle to believe what He says is true.

My prayer today is that God will restore childlike trust to each of our hearts in increasing measure so we will have every confidence that every promise our Papa makes will come to pass!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You that every promise You have made will come to pass because You are the ultimate promise keeper and the One who is forever faithful. Help me to trust You in the times when I don’t see Your promises fulfilled in the ways that I hoped for, so that I can see the bigger picture of Your goodness that will be ultimately revealed in eternity.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #335:
I am God and Father over all creation.

Ephesians 4:6
one God and Father of all, who is over all,
and through all, and in us all.

The Apostle Paul tells us in today's promise that the Fatherhood of God is the absolute foundation of all that exists in the universe. To grasp the context of this promise, let's read Ephesians 4:4-6 in the World English Bible... 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.

In a world with so much instability, it is comforting to be reassured that there is only One God and Father of us all. Our God is the source of all things. While creating is something He does, Father is who He truly is. All life as we know it comes from His fathering heart.

The Apostle Paul says in Acts 17:28 that we are all His offspring through creation. He then explains how God wants us to become His children through the gift of redemption in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When everything else in life seems to shift around, be encouraged to know that there is one God and Father over all creation, and He loves for you to call Him your Abba!

Romans 8:15-17
15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. (WEB)

Promise #336:
My family in heaven and on earth is named after Me.

Ephesians 3:14-15 (WEB)
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,

All fatherhood is derived from the one and only true Father God. The Amplified Bible says Ephesians 3:15 this way... For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name]. (AMP)

When God looks at you and me, He doesn't see nameless, faceless workers; He sees family. He is a loving Father who lovingly relates to His children—not workers, not servants, not slaves, but sons and daughters.

The more we begin to see that the Christian life is all about family, the more we will be drawn into His fathering heart. It is the most beautiful revelation when we know that our value to Him is not based on what we do but simply who we are.

My prayer today is that we would all have a more profound revelation that we belong to the family of God. Our very name comes from our heavenly Father. In John 8:35, Jesus said these words... Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. (NIV)

May we all know we have a permanent place in our father's family where we will belong forever!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that You see me as Your beloved child, one who belongs in Your family forever. I pray that the revelation that I am part of the biggest, best family in the universe will set my heart at rest so I don’t have to feel that I need to prove my value to You. May the eyes of my heart be opened so I can see myself through the lens of Your eternal affection for me in Christ.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #339:
I am your God and you are the sheep of My pasture.

Psalm 100:3 (WEB)
Know that Yahweh, he is God. It is he who has made us, and we are his.
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Today's promise reminds us that we are God's people, the sheep of His pasture. The Bible makes many references to us being sheep. Jesus said in John 10:27 that His sheep hear His voice and will not follow a stranger. In Psalm 23, we read one of the most celebrated passages that tells us that the Lord is our shepherd.

I am not an expert on sheep, but from what I know about these animals, they depend on their shepherd to lead and protect them. All they have to do is listen for his voice and follow wherever he goes. They are not required to make decisions for themselves or manage their lives. They live under the watchful care of a shepherd who they know would lay down his life for them if it came to that.

In a world system that celebrates independence and self-sufficiency at every turn, this might offend us. We don't want to be led—we want to lead! Yet in Romans 8:14, we read that those who the Spirit of God leads are the very children of God.

We were never created to carry the world's weight on our shoulders. We have a Great Shepherd, Lord, and Savior who has already done that for us. All we have to do is listen for His voice and follow Him wherever He goes.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that You never required me to live a life separate from You. All You have asked of me is to simply follow the leading of Your Holy Spirit as I listen for the voice of my Great Shepherd, Jesus, as He leads and guides me beside still waters. I pray that I would find rest for my soul as I simply yield to Your gentle leading in the decisions that need to be made today.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #340:
As a shepherd carries a lamb, I have carried you close to My heart.

Isaiah 40:11 (WEB)
He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom.
He will gently lead those who have their young.

In yesterday's promise, we discussed the benefit of having a loving Shepherd lead and guide us. Today, we want to continue that thought with an amazing illustration of God's love, which comes from Isaiah 40:11. In this passage of Scripture, we see a very intimate picture of how God sees us as His little lambs.

He is the Great Shepherd who feeds, carries, and leads us into greener pastures. If you struggle to feel God's nearness, I would encourage you to meditate on this Scripture and picture yourself as a little lamb needing to be picked up. God uses many illustrations throughout the Bible to help us comprehend how He feels about us.

A little lamb is helpless, defenseless, and utterly dependent on its shepherd, just like we are! I pray that God will give each of us the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation today (Ephesians 1:17) in greater measure so that we will know that our God and Father carries us in His arms just like a shepherd carries a little lamb.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that in Your eyes, I am just a little lamb, helpless and dependent on You. I pray that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation would open my eyes to this simple truth so I don’t feel the pressure to be more than You created me to be. I ask that today I would have a greater awareness of Your loving embrace that holds me close to Your heart.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #341:
If your parents reject you, I will take you in.

Psalm 27:10 (WEB)
When my father and my mother forsake me,
then Yahweh will take me up.

King David wrote Psalm 27, saying, "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up" (KJV). David was called a man after God's own heart and had a revelation of God's intimate love that was greater than any mother's love or father's love.

We don't read much about David's relationship with his parents other than the fact that his father, Jesse, neglected to bring David in from the field when the prophet Samuel was looking to anoint a king from one of Jesse's boys. I don't know if this was an indication of David's relationship with his father, but for whatever reason, David knew that the Lord would always receive him, whether his earthly parents did or not.

This promise is essential in a generation in which nearly 50% of the homes in Western nations will end in divorce. No matter what happens in our relationships with our parents, our God and Father will receive us with His arms open wide. May the Holy Spirit give us a more profound revelation of this truth today.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for accepting me even if my parents do not. Your love for me is far beyond the limitations of even the best earthly parents because Yours is unconditional and measureless, and it is continually poured out to me by Your indwelling Holy Spirit. I pray that I will be comforted in knowing that I always have a safe place to run to in Your loving arms, day or night.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #342:
I am the perfect Father.

Matthew 5:48
Therefore you shall be perfect,
just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

In the Old Testament, God was revealed through over 300 different names (i.e., Jehovah, El Shaddai, Adonai, etc.), but in the New Testament, Jesus reveals God through one name,’ Father.' God is all about being a Father. Father is who He is. God is referred to as Father in every book of the New Testament except for one.

The summary of New Testament revelation can be found in one Bible verse in John 20:17 after Jesus comes out of the tomb and bumps into Mary in the garden. These are His words... Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’

Jesus died so that His Father could become our Father. No matter how wonderful our earthly fathers are, we still need love from the perfect heavenly Father. If the best dad's love is a drop, our heavenly Dad's love is the ocean!

My prayer is that we will all have a deeper revelation of God's fatherhood today and that His amazing love will dismantle every misconception that we have of His perfect Father's heart.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for being my perfect Father. One who knows me completely, yet loves me wholeheartedly. I pray that every misconception about what it means to be loved by a father will be dismantled by Your Holy Spirit, so I can see You as You truly are, not through the lens of my earthly father.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #343:
I will not let you fall, for I am watching over you day and night.

Psalm 121:3
He will not allow your foot to be moved.
He who keeps you will not slumber.

God does not sleep, and He does not slumber. He watches over us day and night so we will not stumble and fall. As I write today's devotional, the image that comes to mind is that of a doting father watching over his little toddler as the child is learning to take its first steps. Wherever the little one goes, the father follows close behind to ensure no accidents happen.

The NLT translation of Psalm 121:3 says it this way: He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. No matter where you go, no matter what time of day or night, God is watching over you, caring for you to ensure that you don't stumble.

What a loving Father we have! Just as no earthly father would want to see his toddler bump their head on a coffee table or fall, our Heavenly Father watches over us to ensure we don't stumble and fall. May this simple picture of God's protecting love encourage our hearts today.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for watching over me day and night so I do not stumble and fall. I pray that today I will be reminded of Your nearness and Your ever-present help in my times of trouble, so I don’t feel like I am left all alone to handle the demands this day will bring.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #344:
My tender mercies never fail, for they are new every morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23
22 It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed,
because his compassion doesn’t fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The NIV Bible says Lamentations 3:22-23 this way... 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Not only does this promise say that God's tender mercies will never fail, but they are new every morning. Every day is a new day for God to reveal His love to us. When I think of this promise, I wonder if there is something in the heart of our God and Father that skips a beat every morning when we open up our eyes.

Every morning, He renews His commitment of love to us. What an awe-inspiring thought this is to me! Paul the Apostle declared in Romans 8:38-39 that he was convinced that nothing could separate him from the love of God expressed in Jesus Christ our Lord. It sounds like Paul needed to be convinced, and we need to be convinced, too!

If that is the case, then every morning is a new opportunity for God to convince us that He, really, really loves us and His love will never fail (1 Corinthians 13:8). My prayer for each one of us is that as we wake up every morning, we will be reminded that God's tender mercies are renewed again for us! God's love for you is unfailing, relentless, and new every morning!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for flooding me each morning with a fresh outpouring of Your great love. I pray that I will never lose the awe and wonder of receiving this new gift of Your love every day. May childlike anticipation and joy awaken in me each morning as Your love welcomes me into each new day.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #345:
I lavish My great love on My children.

1 John 3:1 (WEB)
Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called children of God!
For this cause the world doesn’t know us,
because it didn’t know him.

The greatest display of our Father's love is that He would call us His children. There is no higher honor or more wonderful experience than to be known throughout the universe as a child of the living God. The NIV Bible ends this verse with an exclamation mark (!) to emphasize the point.

We are God's kids! How great is the love that He has poured out on us that He would call us His children! If this thought doesn't cause us to jump up and shout, Hallelujah, we should ask for a greater revelation of this promise. The more this foundational truth becomes part of our everyday lives; the less influence fear will have because perfect love casts out fear! (1 John 4:18).

God wants us to be rooted and grounded in this revelation. We belong to God. He is our Dad. This is the very reason why Jesus came to earth: so that His Father could become our Father (John 20:17). I want to end today's devotional thought with part of the prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed in the book of Ephesians…

Ephesians 1:15-21
15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints,16 don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might 20 which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. (WEB)

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for continuously pouring Your great love on me just because I am Your beloved child! Help me to make pursuing Your love my greatest goal in life so I can live in Your love every moment of each day and show that same love to everyone I meet.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #346:
I have made an everlasting covenant to only do good things for you.

Jeremiah 32:40 (WEB)
and I will make an everlasting covenant with them,
that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good;
and I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.

The NLT Bible translation of Jeremiah 32:40 says it this way...And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.

God has made an ironclad, rock-solid covenant with us that cannot be broken. He has committed to only doing good things for us ...forever! If you have ever seen the paintings of God depicted as an angry old man in the sky, then this promise might surprise you. The enemy of our souls would want you to think that God is not good and that He doesn't want good things for His kids.

However, in James 1:17, the NIV Bible says... Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. God is good, and every good gift comes directly from His hand. Many of the Bible's writers have declared over and over that 'God is good, and His mercy endures forever!'

If you struggle to believe that God has made an everlasting covenant to only do good things for you, ask Him for a more profound revelation of this promise as it concerns you. For He is a good Father and gives His kids good gifts (Matthew 7:6-8).

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for the everlasting covenant You have made with me through my eternal union with Your beloved Son, Jesus, and for the seal of Your Holy Spirit that You have placed within me. I pray that I may understand Your goodness at the very core of my being today and never doubt Your heart toward me, no matter what hardships I face.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #347:
I will go before you and fight your battles.

Deuteronomy 1:30 (WEB)
Yahweh your God who goes before you, he will fight for you,
according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,

In Exodus 14:14, the Lord declares this promise to Israel, "The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (NIV) Today's promise is yet another reminder that God has committed Himself to fighting for you. In Romans 8:31, Paul reminds us that if God is for us, who can be against us?

Ephesians 6 states that our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with this world's dark powers and rulers. In Ephesians 6:10, we are called to be strong in the Lord and His mighty power and to take on the full armor of God. It is so important to remember that it is His armor, not ours.

If you are feeling overwhelmed today by the things opposing you, may this promise bring great comfort to your heart. My prayer is that each and every one of us would live in the safety and security described in Psalm 91, knowing that we live in the secret place of the Most High and dwell under the shadow of the Almighty.

The amazing truth of the gospel is that God is for you, not against you, and He will go before you and fight your battles for you.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that I don’t have to fight my own battles but can simply rest in Your protective, loving care that is for me in every way. Help me to find comfort in Your embrace when I feel afraid, and watch as You handle every unseen enemy working against Your plan and purpose for my life.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #348:
I will keep you safe from trouble for I am your hiding place.

Psalm 32:7 (WEB)
You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble.
You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Today's promise reminds us that God is our hiding place. He is a refuge for us when we need to be safe from trouble. I love how the Amplified Bible translates Psalm 32:7... You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble; you surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! (AMP)

I love how David puts the word 'Selah' at the end of this verse, which the Amplified Bible says means to 'pause, and calmly think of that!' So, let's all take a short 'Selah' break and think about what it means for God to be our hiding place and how He surrounds us with songs and shouts of deliverance.

What challenges are facing you today that you need refuge from? God invites you to run to Him so that He can be a place of safety and security for you and, ultimately, where He will deliver you from all your troubles. May we (Selah) pause to think of today's amazing promise.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for being my safe haven where I can find shelter from every storm that comes my way. I pray that today I can take time to pause and reflect on Your protective love that surrounds me with songs and shouts of deliverance even in the most stressful times.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #349:
I am your rock and your salvation, a fortress that cannot be shaken.

Psalm 62:2 (WEB)
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress--
I will never be greatly shaken.

God is the only unmovable force in this universe that cannot be shaken. In a world where global economies can come crashing down on a moment's notice, in a world where fragile peace treaties fail, it is comforting to know that our God is our only rock and our salvation.

Psalm 62:1-2 in the New Living Translation says it this way... 1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.

God is our defense; He alone is a strong tower that can never be moved. I pray that we will all find great security in this promise today. He will never fail us. Ever. May we stop looking to other things to provide the safety and security that can only come from God and God alone, for He is a fortress that cannot be shaken.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for being my rock, salvation, and an unshakable fortress in a world that constantly shifts on unstable grounds. I pray that I will continue trusting in You rather than in the uncertain, temporary systems of the world around me, so I can truly experience a peace that surpasses my understanding that guards my heart and mind.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #350:
You will have perfect peace if you keep focused on Me.

Isaiah 26:3 (WEB)
You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace,
because he trusts in you.

The New Living Translation Bible says Isaiah 26:3 this way... You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! I used to think that if I could fix all my thoughts on God in my mind, then I would have perfect peace. But the more I think of the whole verse, the more I am convinced that I have been emphasizing the wrong part of it.

The last part of this verse is the key... because he trusts in you. If we truly trust God with all of our lives, then we won't feel the need to spend all of our time thinking about how we should manage our lives ourselves. If we don't have to think about managing life because we trust God to care for us, we will have plenty of free space to think about God. And that allows us to continually think about all of the good things we are encouraged to consider in Philippians 4:8.

In my many travels, I have not found a person who doesn't struggle to some degree with an active thought life. My prayer for every one of us today is that God would show us that the key to having a mind full of peace is first having a trusting heart. May God's love convince us more today that He is worthy of our trust!

Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for Your promise of perfect peace to those who trust in You with all their hearts. Help me to trust You today with all my cares and concerns so that I can live in a state of surrender, releasing everything in my mind that tries to convince me I must handle life alone.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
