365 Promises

The church which is the body of Christ has just one promise, and that is the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus our risen and glorified Saviour, Lord and Head. For in Him we have all things. He is all that we need.

Promise #240:
I will anoint you with oil so your cup overflows.

Psalm 23:5 (WEB)
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

In today's Scripture reference, King David declares that the Lord not only prepares a banquet for him in the presence of his enemies, but God also anoints his head with oil so his cup overflows. What a picture of abundance. Right in the midst of his enemies, David says that there are overflowing blessings.

I believe that the anointing God wants to pour out over our lives today will cause us to live a life of fullness, and others will benefit from the spillover of God's anointing in our lives. In many Christian circles, the focus is on what we can do for God—how hard we can work and how we can demonstrate our love for Him.

While all these things can be good in themselves, we are missing the point if we do them to earn His love somehow. In 1 John 4:19, the Apostle John says, "We love because He first loved us.” God initiates, and we receive. I believe that the key to living a life from a full cup is coming to the place where we learn to be good receivers from God.

The more love we can receive from Him, the more love will overflow in our lives. The more anointing He pours in us, the more it can be spilled to others. My prayer today is that we would all learn to become better receivers of the goodness and graciousness of our God and Father so that we might live our lives from a full cup that is continually overflowing.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for Your abundant, generous heart that continually fills me to overflowing with every good and perfect gift that comes from Your hand. Help me to stay aware of this ongoing infilling, even in the presence of those who might oppose me, and may that same overflowing splash onto them so they too may experience Your goodness.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

The church which is the body of Christ has just one promise, and that is the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus our risen and glorified Saviour, Lord and Head. For in Him we have all things. He is all that we need.
Here is a list of different promises found in the Bible.

Promise #241:
You can celebrate because your name is written in heaven.

Luke 10:20 (WEB)
Nevertheless, don’t rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,
but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

In this Scripture passage, Jesus tells His disciples not to rejoice because the demons submit to their authority but rather rejoice because their names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. I believe the core of what Jesus is saying in this passage is simply this: relationship supersedes authority.

Though signs may follow us wherever we go on this side of heaven, this demonstration of God's authority is because we belong to Him. The fact that our names are written in heaven means that we will live with God Himself for all eternity, which is cause for lots of celebrating!

Though we may walk in God's miraculous power, let us never forget the very essence of why God saved us. He didn't save us to be good workers but to be His sons and daughters. In Matthew 7:22-24, Jesus warns that there will be some people who have walked in miraculous signs and wonders but never knew Him. To 'know' Jesus means to be intimate with Him, and that is the very reason why we were saved.

In John 17:3, Jesus prays to His Father these words... This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (WEB) The very definition of eternal life is being intimate with both God the Father and God the Son.

So, no matter what amazing works God has you do today, do not rejoice because of the works themselves but because your name is written in the halls of heaven, where you will live with God forever!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that my name is written in heaven forever. I pray that this eternal privilege will overshadow any hardships I might face here on earth. For being Your beloved child exceeds any of my kingdom achievements here on earth because what matters is that I am Your much-loved, little child, and that is an honor that will last forever.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #242:
There is a special room in My house prepared just for you.

John 14:2 (WEB)
In my Father’s house are many homes.
If it weren’t so, I would have told you.
I am going to prepare a place for you.

This is part of Jesus' last address to His disciples before He goes to the cross. Interestingly, Jesus assumes that the disciples already know they have a place in His Father's house because He says... "If it were not so, I would have told you.” In the verse prior to this one, Jesus says to His disciples ... "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. (NIV)

Trust is the foundation of believing the promise that we have a place in our Father's house. Jesus' heart's cry is... trust in My Father and me too! It is amazing to think that each one of us who has called on the name of the Lord has a place already prepared in heaven.

No matter how unstable this world system gets, we already have a home prepared for us. Jesus promises to one day receive us back unto Himself so that we can be with Him where He lives for all eternity (John 14:3). Where is this special room located in heaven? The KJV version of John 1:18 says that Jesus declared the Father right from His bosom. If we are to be where Jesus lives, each one of the rooms in our Father's house is located in the center of His heart!

What a glorious promise! We will live forever with Jesus in the very bosom of the Father! May this promise bring comfort and hope to our hearts today, no matter what trials we face.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You for preparing a special place for me in Your heart. I pray that this promise brings me comfort as I think about where I am headed when I transition from this life to the next. I choose to trust You, Father, and Your Beloved Son, knowing that You indeed have a home waiting for me in the very center of Your presence; that is something I can rest in today and forever.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #243:
You can look forward to the new heaven and earth that I have promised.

2 Peter 3:13 (WEB)
But, according to his promise,
we look for new heavens and a new earth,
in which righteousness dwells.

We have something really big to look forward to! ... A new heaven and a new earth! If that is not a cause for celebration, I don't know what is! All the reminders of a fallen world will be gone, and we will have the privilege of enjoying an untainted new residence for eternity! No matter how difficult our circumstances become, we can hold onto the promise of eternal life.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God promises hope and a future to all who belong to Him. So don't lose heart the next time you turn on the television and watch the news! There is a time coming when our God and Father will make a new heaven and a new earth for us!

How amazing will that day be for all those who are in Christ. It is comforting to know we have a good Father, and He keeps all of His promises!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, I thank You that one day, there will be a new heaven and a new earth that I will be able to call home for all eternity. A place where there will be no more weeping or mourning because You make all things new. Help me to be reminded of this during times when the burden of the fallen world around me feels too great to bear.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #311:
Draw near to Me and I will cleanse you from an evil conscience.

Hebrews 10:22 (WEB)
let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and having our body washed with pure water,

An evil conscience is a guilty conscience. When we feel guilty, we feel shame. When we feel shame, we want to run and hide from God, just like Adam and Eve did. Today’s promise is an invitation from our heavenly Father to come close to Him. He will cleanse us from the guilt that we struggle with and wash our bodies with pure water.

It takes genuine faith to believe we are forgiven for all our sins. In the Christian life, we sometimes act as if Jesus forgave our sins when we first became Christians, but then it was our responsibility to keep from sinning from that point on. When we fall, we feel guilty and ashamed, and that sense of guilt keeps us from coming into the presence of God.

The truth is that God's heart is to cleanse us from a guilty conscience so that we can truly draw near to Him without shame or condemnation. Jesus' shed blood is the once-and-for-all sacrifice for our past, present, and future sins. There is nothing that we can do to add to what Jesus has already done. When He cried, "It is finished!" on the cross, He meant it.

I pray that each of us receives the sprinkling of hearts from a guilty conscience today so that we can draw near to God, as He is drawing near to us.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for cleansing me of every condemning thought that would try to convince me that somehow the shed blood of Christ is not enough for my life. I pray for holy boldness today so I can come into Your presence with confidence, knowing that I am holy and blameless in Your sight because of the finished work of the cross.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #312:
My love is patient and kind, and does not keep track of wrongs.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5
4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy.
Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately,
doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;

Since the Bible says in 1 John 4:16 that 'God is love,’ I think it is safe to say that we could exchange the word 'love' in 1 Corinthians for the word 'God' if we wanted to. Consider reading this passage of Scripture as a description of the character and nature of God Himself.

God is patient and kind and doesn't envy, boast, or be proud. He isn't rude or selfish, and he doesn't get angry quickly. He also doesn't keep track of when He has been wronged.

God's love for us will completely overwhelm us if we let it. None of us has experienced this unconditional love in human relationships. The best horizontal love is but a shadow of God's ocean of love for each of us. May the Holy Spirit help us continue to explore His amazing love, setting sail on the vast ocean of His kindness where He keeps no records of the times we hurt Him.

Father, take us deeper into the depths of your love today! We open our hearts up to your unconditional, eternal love, and we ask that we know the vastness of your immeasurable love for us more today than ever before!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me with a love that will never fail. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would redefine all of the distorted expressions of love that I have experienced on this side of heaven. The truth is that Your love is patient, kind, and doesn't envy, boast, or pride itself. Your love isn't rude or selfish and doesn't get angry quickly. Even though I often focus on my shortcomings, Your love doesn’t. May the love that comes from You penetrate deeper into every fiber of my being today.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #313:
I am your light and your salvation, the strength of your life.

Psalm 27:1
Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

The Lord wants us to walk in confidence that will cause fear to flee from our lives. It is the confidence that the shepherd boy David walked in when he defeated the lion and the bear while tending the sheep. David had that same confidence when he ran towards a huge giant named Goliath, armed with just a slingshot and a few stones.

David knew that the Lord was his light, his salvation, and the strength of his life. As a result of this revelation, David could walk in a holy boldness without being afraid. God wants us to have this same revelation, too! Jesus Christ is our light, our salvation, and the very strength of our lives! We have nothing to fear because if God is for us, who can stand against us?

May the boldness of a lion (Proverbs 28:1) rise within you today as you are reminded of who you are in Christ!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You that Your beloved Son Jesus is the light of my salvation and the strength of my life. May this revelation fill every part of my life today so that when fear attempts to intimidate, I can respond confidently, declaring that the Lord is my light and my salvation, the strength of my life, and I have no reason to be afraid.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #314:
I have given you the Spirit of adoption so you can call Me Father.

Romans 8:15
For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

The most precious gift that God could give us is Himself. The Holy Spirit, called the Spirit of adoption or the Spirit of Sonship, is the very Spirit of God Himself. The third person in the Trinity is also referred to as the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of the Son. The Bible says that we have received the Holy Spirit as a deposit to guarantee our inheritance. (2 Corinthians 1:22)

His presence in our lives is a sign that we belong to God. We have been born again and are God's children and part of His amazing family. The Spirit of the living God resides in us and bears witness with our spirit that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus. The only appropriate response we could have is to cry out from the core of our being the words 'Abba, Father!' (Romans 8:15-17).

'Abba' is an Aramaic word, the common language that Jesus spoke to the people. It is the most simple way for a child to call out to their father. In English, it would be like calling out to our papa or daddy.

Romans 8:15 tells us that because we have the spirit of Sonship living in our hearts, we can call Almighty God our Papa! There is no greater gift that He could have given to us than the gift of His own life, which now lives right in the center of our being.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me the Spirit of Sonship when I was born again into Your amazing family by the power of Your Holy Spirit. I pray that I would have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to me today when He bears witness with my spirit that I am Your beloved child and a co-heir with Christ. May everything within me respond by crying out… ‘Abba! Father!’ You really are my Father!

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #315:
Come boldly to My throne when you need to find mercy and grace.

Hebrews 4:16 (WEB)
Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.

We have an invitation from our God and Father to come boldly before His throne of grace today. In the book of Revelation, we read a little about what God's throne room is like in chapter 4... Angels crying holy, holy, holy, flashes of lightning, 24 elders bowing down, a sea of glass, and so much more! It is a sacred place where angels fear to tread, but a place in our Father's heart where we can enter as His beloved little ones.

You can come into His presence right now if you like. His royal doors are always open to you, anytime, day or night. God wants us to go to Him boldly, not timidly. He loves it when we climb up on His lap just as a little child would jump into his dad's arms. He is always there for us, ready to provide the mercy and grace to help us in our time of need.

We cannot fathom the privilege that God has extended to us by inviting us to His throne of grace. It is an honor that could have only been purchased by the highest price possible: the shed blood of the Lamb of God. Thank you, Jesus, for making the way for us to become part of your family so that we could come boldly before our Father's throne of grace 24/7!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me unlimited access to Your throne room day or night. I ask for a supernatural, childlike boldness to fill me so I can truly believe this is real. And may I have the faith to trust that every time I come into Your presence, You are there waiting for me with open arms and indescribable joy.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #316:
Taste and you will see that I am a good God.

Psalm 34:8 (WEB)
Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good.
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

When I think of today's promise, I think of the difference between looking at a shiny red apple and tasting it. No matter how tasty the apple seems, the only way I will genuinely experience its goodness is to take a big bite out of it!

When I sink my teeth into an apple, I can taste it and see that it is delicious. Looking at an apple will never sustain us. An entire orchard of apples could surround us, and yet we would die of starvation if we didn't eat the apples.

I believe that God is extending an invitation for us to not only behold His goodness from afar but to come close, taste, and see that He really is good. In some Christian circles, looking for an experience with God might be seen as undermining the importance of believing without seeing. I am not suggesting that we base our entire Christian walk on experience, but I do suggest that experience is part of our relationship.

While faith (Hebrews 11:6) is still the foundation on which we relate to God, I believe He wants us to experience Him in every facet of our being. I pray that today, each of us will taste God's goodness in a very tangible way that will give us a greater insight into our Papa's heart.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for inviting me to tangibly experience Your goodness today. I ask that You open the eyes of my heart so I can encounter genuine expressions of Your goodness that impact my body, soul, and spirit. I believe You are good, and Your love endures forever! Help me taste the reality of Your goodness through all my senses today.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #318:
I will shower My Spirit and My blessings on your offspring.

Isaiah 44:3 (WEB)
For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and streams on the dry ground.
I will pour my Spirit on your seed, and my blessing on your offspring:

In today's promise, God says He will water the thirsty and dry ground and pour out His Spirit and blessing upon our offspring. As a father of three adult children and three grandchildren, I say yes and amen to this promise and pray that His Spirit and blessings will be poured out on future generations!

God loves to bless His kids. When He created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He blessed them to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion throughout the earth. His heart hasn't changed today. He desires that our entire family would live under the fullness of all His blessings to a thousand generations!

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for the promise of Your blessings not only for me but also for future generations who will come after me. Whether they are my own children or those You have brought into my life so I can show Your love, may Your love and Your Holy Spirit continue to bless Your beloved ones for a thousand generations.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #319:
I will comfort you with My everlasting encouragement.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (WEB)
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father,
who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

The NIV Bible says 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 this way... 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

God is our eternal encourager. He never stops pouring out His love on us and encouraging us. I love the dictionary.com definition of encouragement:...to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence.

God is our friend, our brother, our Father, and the lover of our soul. He has no self-interest but is wholeheartedly for us in every way. In Hebrews 12:1-2, the writer says that we should keep running the unique race that the Father has set out for us while fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. The race referred to in this passage of Scripture is the kind of race run within the walls of ancient stadiums with stands packed full of people!

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all cheering you on as you run your unique race today. All the resources of heaven encourage you not to give up but to keep on going! The Triune God never tires of giving us the encouragement that we need so we might find the strength to do every good deed that aligns with our destiny.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your loving, eternal encouragement that continually cheers me on to run the unique race You have set before me. I pray that I have the courage and godly discernment to remain faithful to the calling You placed on my life so that I can be an expression of Your unique image, reflected through me—something never seen before in all of history.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #320:
Delight in Me and I will give you the longings of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 (WEB)
Also delight yourself in Yahweh,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

In today's promise, King David declares that if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts. I have always been intrigued by this Bible verse because it says that if I focus on and enjoy my relationship with God, He will give me the deep longings of my heart.

Many people struggle to know their deepest desires. I am not talking about temporal spur-of-the-moment desires but the deep longings we have in our core. What good works were we created to do? What gives life to the depths of our souls? If we believe God loves us the way He made us, we will be convinced that He has placed within us desires He wants to fulfill.

Philippians 2:13 says... for it is God who works in you to will and act according to his good purpose. (NIV) I believe this verse tells us that God uses our heart's desires to fulfill His good purpose for us. St. Augustine, one of the early church fathers, said it this way... “Love God and do what you will.

I truly believe the more we love God and enjoy His fellowship, the more we will connect with our heart's desires. And the more we connect with our heart's desires, the easier it will be to live a life flowing from our hearts instead of our heads.

May today be another day when we go deeper into the simple delights of a relationship with the One who is absolute and complete love. May today be a day when He fulfills the secret longings that He has placed in each one of our hearts.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for creating me as a unique reflection of Your image that has never existed before in all of creation. Help me to connect with You on such a heart level that my heart’s desires align with Yours so I can be an expression of Your goodness to everyone I meet.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #321:
Just ask and you will receive.

Matthew 7:7 (WEB)
“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find.
Knock, and it will be opened for you.

Our God and Father has a way of making the very complex very simple. In today's promise, Jesus points us to His Father and says... Ask, and you will receive. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. In the following few verses, Jesus tells us that God has a father’s heart for us, and He promises to give good gifts to those who will ask.

So, what do you need today? Just ask! Jesus also told us that the Father knows what you need before you even ask for it. (Matthew 6:8) So ask Him! He is the Father of Lights; every good and perfect gift comes directly from His hand (James 1:17) and He loves it when His kids come to Him with all their needs.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for being so attentive to my needs that You know what I require even before I ask. Help me to believe that You love it when I acknowledge Your role as my Father. Because You are such a good Dad, You want me to keep asking, keep knocking, and keep seeking, so by faith I boldly come into Your throne room today, knowing that You hear my prayers.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #322:
I look throughout the earth to strengthen those who belong to Me.

2 Chronicles 16:9 (WEB)
For the eyes of Yahweh run back and forth throughout the whole earth,
to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
Herein you have done foolishly; for from henceforth you shall have wars.”

God is always watching us. His eyes run to and fro throughout the entire world, looking to strengthen those who belong to Him. He never abandons us or leaves us to our own devices. He is always there and is an ever-present help in our times of trouble. Even in the darkest times when you feel completely alone, you aren't. God is with you, and His heart is committed to strengthening those who belong to Him.

Hebrews 12:1-2 says that we are to fix our eyes on Jesus and run the race marked out for us. Think about this for a moment... When we are fixing our eyes on Jesus, He is fixing His eyes on us! Amazing huh? May the tangible reality of feeling God's gaze become more and more real so that we might find the strength we need to thrive today.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for being my constant help during my times of trouble and for giving me the strength I need when I feel weak. I pray that I become more aware today of Your loving gaze upon me because, truthfully, I am not alone; I have the entire Godhead—Father, Son, and Spirit—living in me.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Promise #323:
I will be your safe place in difficult times.

Nahum 1:7 (WEB)
Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble;
and he knows those who take refuge in him.

The NIV Bible says Nahum 1:7 this way... The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Ecclesiastes says there is a season for all things, so there is no escaping the fact that we will all have difficult times. Jesus reminded us in John 16:33 that though we will have trouble in this world, we can take heart because He has overcome the world.

In today's promise, we are reminded that because the Lord is good and cares for those who trust in Him, He will be our refuge in times of trouble. He will be our stronghold, safe place, and haven of rest amid the storm. No matter what comes our way, we can trust in this promise to sustain us.

So today, I pray that we would all be comforted by this promise and choose to live in the secret place of the Most High (Psalm 91) so that He might be our refuge in times of trouble.

***
Responsive Prayer:

Father, thank You for being my refuge and strong tower during times when I need shelter from life's storms. Help me stay aware of Your promise to be my safe place in tough times, so I will be quick to seek refuge and find security in the shadow of my Heavenly Father, any time, day or night.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
