Were the Men of Sodom Homosexual?

My opinion only. Not subject to argument.

What an absolutely silly debate that has gone on for 5 pages and 95 replies

All over whether those men were homosexuals or not.

Fact is... that could have been as straight as anything and they still would have been wrong for we know that God
does not permit even simple fornication outside of wedlock. (Dont ask me cause I do not know what is gonna happen to those since the 1960s.

Lot was even willing to give his daughters to those men. Human trafficking, if you ask me.

Whether or not they were straight... gay... or bi.... is irrelevant.

They were looking to do wrong..... period.

Straight sex in the way of an orgy or two or gay sex in what likely might have amounted as a bath house... (just jesting)
it was not as was intended and is why we are told .... Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. - 1 Corinthians 6:18?...

We have all been told only in marriage... and not until recently has that same sex marriage idea become almost normal... cause back then it was not.

The very trouble with this though is once involved it is difficult to stop. Almost like coming off of a drug the temptations still rear their ugly heads.

So rather then look for a way to give this bunch in Sodom and Gomorrah a pass by trying to prove they were not there to do what everyone knows they were...... and why would one want to do that BTW?..... or a pass to any illicit sex acts what so ever...
we should look to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah as a lesson to be learned.

They were not there simply to have a Kumbaya moment and make s'mores.

I'm not going to hunt down whatever evidence you think you have.

You are the outlier here.

Name one scholar anywhere that agrees with you...
God..... (smile). and LISTEN to HIM. Ezekiel 16:48 "As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters." Ezekiel 16:49 "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." Ezekiel 16:50 "And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."

do you believe this scholar ...... God?

No matter what clear evidence you give, 101G will blubber out something like, "Yeah, but prove it"!
Again, only my opinion but I have run across similar before in other forums and in those cases it was clear those people
were trying to prove that said act was not a sin and definitely not an abomination.

Also came out that there was some family involved with one and they were quite upset, as you can imagine. (a daughter)

Let it be ... "KNOWN" .... that 101G do not support nor care about anyone's agenda, but GOD'S agenda here. nor do 101G care if one or many are Homosexual, Bisexual, or heterosexual. this is not the point of the topic. the point is was the men Homosexual based on the term "KNOW". and that Hebrew terms here at Genesis 19 do not carry the use of Homosexual.
KNOW: H3045 יָדַע yada` (yaw-dah') v.
1. (properly) to ascertain by seeing.
2. (generally) to know.
3. (used widely) to observe, care, recognize, etc.
4. (causatively, used widely) to instruct, designate, punish, etc.
{used in a great variety of senses: figuratively, literally, euphemistically, inferentially, and causatively.}
[a primitive root]
KJV: acknowledge, acquaintance(-ted with), advise, answer, appoint, assuredly, be aware, (un-)awares, can(-not), certainly, comprehend, consider, X could they, cunning, declare, be diligent, (can, cause to) discern, discover, endued with, familiar friend, famous, feel, can have, be (ig-)norant, instruct, kinsfolk, kinsman, (cause to let, make) know, (come to give, have, take) knowledge, have (knowledge), (be, make, make to be, make self) known, + be learned, + lie by man, mark, perceive, privy to, X prognosticator, regard, have respect, skilful, shew, can (man of) skill, be sure, of a surety, teach, (can) tell, understand, have (understanding), X will be, wist, wit, wot.

NOWHERE in the definition do it refer to any kind sexual act. this is the point 101G is making.

but Genesis 19:9 give us the answer to wgy they wanted to KNOW them, "And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door."

I have no idea what strange things you are thinking in your head.
to use a euphemism, don't say strange .... say peculiar. 1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" ..... (smile)

When I quoted from two Hebrew lexicons about what a Hebrew word means in post #14 you didn't believe them.
was they in line with God word? did God word say that in CONTEXT?

now if you can support this in scripture and not in violation of scripture, 101G will repent..... until then, no ... 101G do not agree with the definition.....

now do the definition of "deal worse" in Genesis 19:9 line up with God Holy Word?

I don't even understand why you would doubt it in the first place.

You know this idiom is used many places in Scripture and in the cultural context of it?

Do you believe Adam read an encyclopedia article about Even in Genesis 4?
is it used here in Context of a sexual nature? NO, because verse 9 disprove that notion.... in CONTEXT.
