"Thorn in the flesh". What was it?

Listen up; do you not know, have you not heard?

John 3:14-17 (NKJV) 14 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

First, God made no covenant with non-Hebrew Gentiles. If He did, please provide the Scripture and the name of this Gentile.

Second, Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law. This means that as the animal sacrifice was slain to atone for the children of Israel, so, too did Jesus die for the children of Israel or else you're teaching Jesus came to destroy the Law because any change in the Law is tantamount to destroying the Law.

Saul says:

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:4–5.

What you have written, @jeremiah1five, is a complete fabrication.

Read carefully …

"Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country,
and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house,
unto a land that I will show thee: and I will make of thee a great nation...
and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed" (Gen. 12:1-3).

"And when Abram was ninety years old and nine,
the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him,
I am the Almighty God;
walk before me, and be thou perfect,
and I will make my covenant between me and thee,
and will multiply thee exceedingly...
thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram,
but thy name shall be Abraham;
for a father of many nations have I made thee "(Genesis 17:1-5).

God made covenant with Abram the Hebrew and his Hebrew seed.

Abram was to be blessed as well as his seed.

If you notice it says "in thee" meaning his biological seed.

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:3.

"IN THEE" means his families will be blessed and having families as many as the stars in heaven is a great deal of blessing. This includes Ishmael and Esau's descendants for they are also "IN THEE" of Abraham's seed.

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Galatians 4:4–5.

I just post the Scripture. You are free to disbelieve Scripture and call God a liar.

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 1 John 5:8–10.

It's just that simple.

Let’s read God’s words with understanding and in context, shall we, @jeremiah1five?

Isaiah 40:17-31 (NKJV) 17 All nations before Him [are] as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless. 18 To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? 19 The workman molds an image, The goldsmith overspreads it with gold, And the silversmith casts silver chains. 20 Whoever [is] too impoverished for [such] a contribution Chooses a tree [that] will not rot; He seeks for himself a skillful workman To prepare a carved image [that] will not totter. 21 Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 [It is] He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants [are] like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 23 He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. 24 Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble. 25 “To whom then will you liken Me, Or [to whom] shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these [things,] Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of [His] power; Not one is missing. 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the LORD, And my just claim is passed over by my God”? 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the weak, And to [those who have] no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew [their] strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

God is telling you that He is in control of everything. Therefore, we must always give God the praise and thanks for all things. There is absolutely nothing that compares to Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth.

I agree.

Now, show me a covenant between God and Abraham.

Then, show me a covenant between God and a non-Hebrew Gentile and tell me this Gentile's name.

Then it is possible that non-Hebrew Gentiles are among those predestined to salvation.

Go ahead. I'll wait.

I believe you mean "THORN" in the flesh.

I would prefer to say he had an eye condition due to his losing his sight in white light.
Normal blindness see darkness. Saul didn't.

The cause:
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
Acts 9:3.

The result:
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
Acts 9:8–9.

The cure:
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
Acts 9:17–18.

scales: Strong's [#3013] lepis from lepo (to peel); a flake.
13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
Galatians 4:13–15.

As Scripture says, "no flesh shall glory in His Presence." Eyes are of the body, of the flesh. They see the physical world. But the light that "knocked" him off his horse caused him to lose his sight in [white] light. His appearance was possibly altered and may have been seen by others as "disturbing", such as someone who was cross-eyed, but to a different and greater degree. I can only think of aged dogs whose eyes become cloudy, white, eyeballs. That is my edumacated guesstimate.
I'm curious to know your thoughts.

(Maybe the Administrator can edit "torn" if you really meant "thorn."?)
you got to be kidding? ... lol, lol, lol, .. oh my God, just cannot believe some peoples.

GINOLJC, to all.
The thorn in the flesh is a figurative expressions show that he, Paul should endure very troublesome and distressing false prophets and none believers. there is nothing wrong with Paul, but a THORN IN THE "FLESH", is a PERSON, again a false prophet, or a false believers .... in the FLESH.... a PERSON, that caused ... as said, GREAT distress to the apostle, a hindrance to the Gospel.
The answer is in the same verse. 2 Corinthians 12:7 "And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure." BINGO, there it is, "the messenger of Satan to buffet me", WHY? "lest I should be exalted above measure."

a false prophet, (a messenger of satan), preaching a false/another gospel. this was done so Paul, would not get the BIG HEAD himself.

this figurative expressions is clearly seen in Numbers 33:55 "But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell."

so, a THORN to the apostle Paul here was a False prophet/THORN in the FLESH/a evil person. in the flesh means in a body, a person.

hope this helps.

you could not offer me up no amount of money to agree with jeremiah five . OH I do not agree with him at all .
But peter was no racists either . WE gots to bible up for ourselves my friend. WE MUST . men have fleeced us all .
TIME for an all out exodus from all denominations of men and their doctrines
and an ENTRODUS back into the bible to simply learn and to grow .

So why did Peter neglect the church of God? Why did it take a Acts 10:13 moment for Peter?

Nothing changed from the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ till Acts 10:13.

Peter was also gravely mistaken about....

Act 6:2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

That is exactly what ministers do. Jesus did it himself.

Joh 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Peter forgot his experience.

Joh 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
Joh 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
Joh 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Again. I'm no better than Peter but I realize that I often just don't listen to God until I've done something that has caused problems for myself and others. That is exactly what Peter did. He isn't alone in this.

You should realize that the Scriptures are true and accurate. Historically perfect in exactly what happened.

However, that doesn't mean that what God allowed good men to do is EXACTLY.... what they should have done. It isn't.

We would be in pitiful condition if God didn't just keep loving us even though we made mistakes that affects us and those we love and HE LOVES too.
