Things that accompany Christ

Both Faith and Repentance are works of God in the Elect premised on the Death of Christ, they accompany the Salvation He obtained for them, So when scripture declares this Acts 5:31

31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

It would not be adding to the truth that "God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance and faith to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

In the Divine scheme of things, Faith and Repentance are one evangelically. Acts 20:21

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Repentance is to the acknowledging of the Truth 2 Tim 2:25

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Remember Jesus is the Truth Jn 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
 
Sanctification unto God is a thing that accompanies Christs Death for them He died for , that being the will of God Heb 10:9-10

9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Now who wants to deny this sanctification by the will and death of Christ for them He died ? First of all His Death alone for us purged our sins Heb 1:3

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Thats an aspect of Sanctification by His Death !
 
Application of Salvation is promised/given,

All for whom Christ died shall have the redemptive benefits of Hs Death applied to them by Christs Life,

Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

See Christs death provided legal Salvation, however, still being enemies, they need a Spiritual application to provide them Spiritual Salvation, and that's the work of the Spirit in them, reconciling them Spiritually to God. This saving application accompanies Christs Death. If this application doesnt occur, there was a short circuit in the promise of God. The shall by saved came to nought !

The Death of Christ gives Life, Spiritual life. Nothing here says otherwise. If Christ dies He brings forth much fruit, which fruit is Spiritual life Jn 12:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
 
The obtaining of Salvation,

If Christ died for your sins, then its accompanied with the obtaining of your Salvation

Heb 9:12

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

If all my sins were settled on the cross, then there is nothing left for me to do to obtain my salvation. It is guaranteed. Forgiveness is yours and freedom from condemnation is yours.

Redemption in Vs 12 is the greek word lytrōsin:

Redemption, Ransom

Meaning: (in the Old Testament: ransoming from imprisonment for debt, or from slavery, release from national misfortune, etc.), liberation, deliverance, release.

Word Origin: Derived from the Greek verb λύω (luō), meaning "to loosen" or "to release."
  1. deliverance, esp. from the penalty of sin

Now thats good news !
 
The Holy Spirit of Christ is for the application of His Atoning Death. Hence when Christ ascended to heaven after His Redemptive work, He was awarded the Holy Spirit for the application of His successful work, Acts 2:33

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
The Holy Ghost was shed or poured forth for His applying renewing work upon the redeemed. Titus 3:5-6

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

The saving here is in the Spiritual application phase of Salvation, not the legal Phase.
 
Life/to live by Him !
1 Jn 4:9-10
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Spiritual living is resultive of and accompanies Christs propitiatory death
Thats one of Gods purposes in sending His Son to die for sinners, that through Him, they will be made to live. Now to live through Him means Spiritually, for they are ready living physically, but dead in sin, because of their sin, but Christ for them took their sins away, hence they have the right to live to God no longer dead in sin.
1 John 4:9 (KJB)In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Here John specifically states that the love of God is manifested or revealed towards those He has saved. God sent His only begotten Son into the world to die for the Elect, so we may be redeemed and live eternally with Him. It is important to see the wording used. Notice it says “the love of God” not “a love of God.” That definite article “the” teaches us that God’s love is directed toward His children only. If the indirect article “a” was used then it would show God’s love is manifested in a plurality of situations. There is no such thing in Scripture where it teaches that God hates the sin but loves the sinner. As we previously saw in Psalm 5:5 that God hates all workers of iniquity, in other words, all unbelievers. (Psa 7:11 KJV) God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11 teaches us that God is angry with the wicked every day. God’s anger is leveled against the unbeliever while His love is directed toward the Elect. Propitiation - Expiation, Sin offering Here is the great initiator of love. The Elect of God was also in rebellion against Him before they became saved. (Eph 2:3 KJV) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Notice that Ephesians 2:3 states that we were by nature children of wrath just like the others. We were spiritually dead and incapable of loving God but He knew those whom He had named before the foundation of the world unto salvation and He was able to lavish His love upon us. His love for us came through Calvary as He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to be our sin offering. When Christ went to the cross and finished the salvation plan of God for the Elect, He then lavished His love on us through the finished work of Christ. Christ removed all our sins at Calvary and therefore we can be loved by God because we are as if we never sinned, that is how clean Christ made us. If we have but one sin, we are still disqualified for Heaven and unsaved. That is why Christ had to completely clean us from all sin. Faith to believe on Him accompanies the giving of Christ,

Rom 8:32

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Now being delivered up for our sins, How can God not also with Him give us all things for body and soul ?

The words "freely give us" in the original is the word charizomai:
  1. to do something pleasant or agreeable (to one), to do a favour to, gratify
    1. to show one's self gracious, kind, benevolent
    2. to grant forgiveness, to pardon
    3. to give graciously, give freely, bestow
      1. to forgive
      2. graciously to restore one to another
      3. to preserve for one a person in peril

Now its the same word Paul used of the giving of Faith to believe on His Name Phil 1:29


29 For unto you it is given[charizomai] in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

So "to believe on Him" was given along with Christ being delivered up for us.

There is no such thing as a person Christ died for and not become a believer in Him !
 
Application of Salvation comes with Christ,

Now Christ wouldn't be a Saviour if those He came to save didn't partake of His being a Saviour unto them, so He makes application unto them by giving them repentance along with forgiveness of sins Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

And with the forgivenss of sins is the knowledge of it Lk 1:77

77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
 
He is the Captain of their Salvation by His Death !

Heb 2:9-10

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

The Every Man in Vs 9, Christ by tasting death in behalf of them, becomes the Captain of their Salvation. So if He tasted death for one, He is that one's Saviour. What does this word Captain mean ? Its the word archēgos:

the chief leader, prince

a) of Christ

2) one that takes the lead in any thing and thus affords an example, a predecessor in a matter, pioneer

3) the author

In this context He is the Author of their Salvation by means of tasting death for them, by which He will lead them to Glory !

He is the Author in that He is the causation of their Salvation. He is the determinant of it.

By this, He is also the Author of their Faith Heb 12:2

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

What Faith is that ? Heb 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This Faith accompanies the Salvation He is the Author of Heb 2:10

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

For Christ to taste death for someone, and that Person is not saved by it, makes His Death insufficient to save them, and deprives Him of being the Captain, or the Author of their Salvation.

The ASV

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

He is also the Pioneer of their Salvation

He is the Head of those He died and rose in behalf of, and went into the presence of God in the Heavenly regions to appear before God's for them as the Captain of their Salvation. Heb 9:12

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb 9:24

For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

As our forerunner or pioneer Heb 6:20

Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Forerunner/prodromos:

a forerunner

a) esp. one who is sent before to take observations or act as a spy, a scout, a light armed soldier

b) one who comes in advance to a place where the rest are to follow

Thats also the definition of a pioneer:

a person who is among those who first enter or settle a region, thus opening it for occupation and development by others.
 
Included in Christ’s obedience unto Death [Phil 2:8] to achieve perfect righteousness, was His payment for every sin of every one He died for, so that God’s Justice is now satisfied and there is no need for any punishment to be exacted on the people for whom Christ died and on whose behalf He underwent God’s wrath towards their sin. Their sins were charged to Christ and His Righteousness charged to their account see 2 Cor. 5:21. Before God, all for whom Christ died stand perfected forever:[Heb 10:14] Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth" Rom. 8:33
 
Included in Christ’s obedience unto Death was the purgation of the elect He died for from all their sins:

Here we are told that Christ Himself was the one who died for the sins of His people and it was not through a vicarious sacrifice. Christ was the sacrifice for sins and after He had successfully cleansed the Elect of sins, He went back to Heaven and sat down on the right hand of God the Father.

when he had by himself purged our sins; the Arabic and Ethiopic versions seem to refer this to God the Father, as if he, by Christ, made the expiation of sin, and then caused him to sit down at his right hand; but it belongs to the Son himself, who of himself, and by himself alone, and by the sacrifice of himself, made atonement for the sins of his people; which is meant by the purgation of them: he took their sins upon himself, and bore them, and removed them far away, and utterly abolished them, which the priests under the law could not do: and when he had so done,

So all the elect for whom He died, they are legally saved from all their sins, which calls for a spiritual renewal inwardly during their lifetime to compliment their legal saved status before God because of their sins being urged away by Christ.
 
Justification accompanies Christs redeeming death,

By virtue of the fact that Christ died for one, that fact in and of itself Justified themb4 God in the Legal phase of Salvation. His Death alone redeemed them He died for Rom 3:24

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Now when did Christ redeem His People ? Was it when they believed in Him ? No sir, it was at the Cross, when He died for them, they were redeemed.

Read Heb 9:12

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
When He entered into the Holy place in Heaven by and with His own blood, He had obtained eternal redemption for us, this is a legal blessing, and its Justification according to Rom 3:24

The word redemption in Rom 3:24 is apolytrōsis:
  1. a releasing effected by payment of ransom
    1. redemption, deliverance
    2. liberation procured by the payment of a ransom

This word is combined of two words lytron and apo
Now lytron means:
  1. the price for redeeming, ransom
    1. paid for slaves, captives
    2. for the ransom of life
  2. to liberate many from misery and the penalty of their sins

See that fact, having been liberated FROM the penalty of their sins, thats Justification
And the word redemption in Heb 9:12 lytrōsis:
  1. a ransoming, redemption
  2. deliverance, esp. from the penalty of sin

So Now its impossible to ever charge anyone Christ died for with sinand its penalty, So Paul can say Rom 8:33

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Why Paul?
Vs 34

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God,

And when He died He redeemed themfrom the penalty of their sins !
 
Regeneration/spiritual purification and renewal is the necessary consequence of the Death of Christ, making it effectual, scriptures that indicate the same Eph 5:25-26

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

See the giving Himself [His Death] was for the purpose of result, hence the conjunction hina that connects Vs 25 with 26 to state the Divine purpose resulting from His death, that of sanctification, cleansing, washing of water by the word. Now regeneration is presupposedto accomplish this objective.
 
Being purified is a necessary consequence of Christs redeeming death as stated here Titus 2:14

14 Who gave himself for us[His death], that[purpose] he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Regeneration is again presupposed in this purpose and process, for in chapter 3 it reads Titus 3:4-6

4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

This complements His Deaths purpose from Titus 2:14
