The Calvinist likes to say that man can only will and act according to his sinful nature and against God. How could it be God’s will that man defy His law? If sinful acts are admitted to come from genuine choice, then we have the same challenge to God’s sovereignty that the Calvinist cannot allow. Either man has a free will, or his sin is all according to God’s will.

This is exactly what Calvin himself taught and many Calvinists still believe, making God the author of evil. Could it be that Adam’s nature was actually sinful, though God pronounced him “good” when He created him? How else, except by free will, can his sin be explained? The Calvinist escapes free will by declaring that even the sin of Adam and Eve was foreordained and decreed by God.

A. W. Pink taught that, “God foreordains everything which comes to pass. His sovereign rule extends throughout the entire Universe and is over every creature. … God initiates all things, regulates all things. …” Then why did Christ tell us to pray, “Thy will be done on earth …” if all is already according to God’s will and decree? It is fallacious to imagine that for God to be in control of His universe He must foreordain and initiate everything.

What about those Jesus says to them Jn 5:40

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Thats answered in Jn 6:44 they simply will not come because they cannot come unless the Power of God draws them and makes them willing

Ps 110:3

3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

If and when one comes to believe on Christ willingly, the credit goes to Gods Power !

The only way we can come to Christ is through our free will. Christ does not force us to come to Him.

No it simply means that if God did not teach Christ no one would believe

John 6:45 (NASB95) — 45 “It is written in the prophets, ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

This is true even if God's teaching is through another party

For example those who believe Moses would believe on Christ

John 5:46 (LEB) — 46 For if you had believed Moses, you would believe me, for that one wrote about me.

Belief in the words of others as well

Acts 14:1 In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.

Predestination (according to Calvinism) is the “eternal decree of God, by which … some are preordained to eternal life, others to eternal damnation. …”

Calvin says: “Those, therefore, whom God passes by he reprobates, and that for no other cause but because he is pleased to exclude them from the inheritance which he predestines to his children. …” That's the unloving god of Calvinism.

It is a slander on the character of God to say that damning billions pleases Him! Yet this distasteful doctrine is the inevitable result of Calvinism’s extreme view of sovereignty.

The believing in Christ here is the result of the Fathers Drawing and teaching. They could not believe without being taught of Christ. Christ first has to spiritually revealed in us and to us before we believe in Him. Like He was revealed in Paul Gal 1:16

To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Peter by nature did not know who Christ was, it was supernaturally revealed to him Matt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Again Matt 11:27

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

So by nature we can not believe in Christ. We can not know Him by nature, no man does.

John 3:18 The one who believes in him is not judged, but the one who does not believe has already been judged, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.

Mark 16:16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who refuses to believe will be condemned.

John 8:24 Thus I said to you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
