Inspiration. Proof of the sinfulness of the writer?

In defining the doctrine of "inspiration"..... one must recognize that the power of God "overcomes" the inabilities of man. That the origins of "INSPIRED" words come from a the Divine. Perfection. Through the Holy Spirit.

Would you be surprised to learn that the Spirit of God spoke through Balaam?

Num 24:2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

That is why we reference "INSPIRED" words as "revelation".

No matter how you looks at this.... "missing the mark" is not just about every individual. It is really about the proper "measuring stick". There is only One. Jesus Christ. ALL MEN are less than the "mark" throughout their entire lives.

What do we have that we haven't received from another? This is true of every one of us individually.

1Co 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

Bump.....

Inspiration.... is often misunderstood.

There are basically three classifications of "words" to be found within any canon of choice.

1. "Thus saith the Lord"
2. Inspired words of men
3. Words of men.

#1 is clear. God said it.

#2 is less clear. Men often "speak for God". Paul somewhat deals with this in the context of revelation through "men"..... when he wrote his second letter to the church at Corinth.

1Co 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
1Co 7:40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.

Notice verse #40 specifically appeals to the Spirit of God's influence in his "judgement". His exact words are ..... "after his own judgement".

However, we read earlier the context of Paul's statement ......

1Co 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
1Co 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

Notice how Paul says that he wasn't commanded to place his own "judgement" that came from the Spirit of God upon all of those in Corinth or anywhere else for that matter.

Paul rightfully recognizes that something can generally be true "at face value" and not necessarily applicable to everyone given every circumstances. Notice his exact words.... "But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that."

What honest words. What sincerity. We need more of this today.

In other words, He was inspired to share his judgment but his judgment wasn't for everyone.

Such words fall with the context of #2..... or "inspired words of men".

What say you?
