Yeah... I always use the KJV. I'm just under the impression that if there are other bibles that are accurate to the Textus Receptus it's fine to read those too. But, it is wise to focus on the message and not worry about the KJV only vs not KJV only debate.

Be very careful with this area. It is cult-like behaviour. Do a lot of research along with prayer. There are some very good debate videos available that present both sides. Try to read between the lines of the various debaters and try to see what their agenda is.

Yea thanks for this. So far it doesn't seem to be that the church is a cult, because salvation is by grace thru faith...not by works..thru belief in Jesus. No water baptism to be saved either.

But I do need to have a look at KJV only more deeply. Im ok with it being the preferred translation and everyone using it at church to get the same verses.. but I'm not comfortable calling it the only rightly preserved translation.

Be very clear, I did not say your church was a cult. It is behaviour that is very cult-like. Forcing you to believe and behave like they tell you to - with consequences if you do not. The KJV is a translation. It is not perfect. Every translation is not perfect. Like everything - you do not know what you don't know.

Do you attend a church on a regular basis, or do you have a home study group, or just watch online ?

My 39 year journey of walking with Jesus has certainly been one wild ride. Throughout those years I've found myself in all 3 of those situations. Due to my current circumstances, I'm online only. How about you my friend, what has your journey looked like?

I began mine in 1980. I went to a Dutch reformed church for 3 years and discipled by the pastor for 3 years. After I went to a CMA until 1998 and was in Church leadership there as an elder and was involved in Mens discipleship and Sunday morning teaching classes. Moved to another city and have served there from 99 until now snd it’s non denominational. I lead small home groups and men’s discipleship. I was staying home most of the time during the pandemic but our church was open.

I’ve invited our small groups and Mens discipleship here but it takes a certain kind of person to engage in online forums. It’s definitely not most people’s cup of tea lol. I’ve been on forums since 2000.

every church is denominational to some degree even the non denom i know it sounds good but every church has got to have structure . i think many feel saying denomination --means controlled by certain by laws/ origination. there are some that are governed like that. i am with the general Baptist and the headquarters has absolutely no say on what goes on. the united Methodist is governed by the conference board.. they send the pastor to the Church.
iam happy to say many are moving from the umc becoming independent from the conference. . there is nothing wrong with denoms as long as they are Bible based . the church i pastor is a gen baptist but we dont do membership . you come your a part of the Church
