Just food for thought. A person may commit a certain act but that doesn't mean we can say that's their established character.
I think of children or offspring. They may tell an untruth to their parent, and yes technically speaking it's a lie. The parent may call them on it and the kid challenges the parent by saying, "Are you calling me a liar?"
I'd respond to the kid, "No not from the standpoint of it being your established character but what you've done is actually a lie. i don't however look upon you as a liar." So there is a difference. Someone may commit a certain act but it doesn't reflect their true character.
