It was called the Tree of the KNOWLEDGE of Good and Evil, NOT the Tree of the Knowledge of love and hate.
God may have loved them (Adam and Eve) but there is nothing in Scripture where God teaches these two about love and hate. That instruction came later in Leviticus. For God, the issue is obedience and disobedience. Not love and hate. And we cannot add to the Bible that Adam and the woman's disobedience was dependent on whether they loved God or not.
The bottom line is that at the end, "[That he might] present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Eph 5:27.
So, it doesn't matter if the Church is this or that today or yesterday. When the end comes the Church is a "glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it [is] holy and without blemish" because of the atonement performed by Jesus Christ which results in God forgiving their iniquity and remembering their sin no more.
Take your eyes off man and look at God instead. His perspective is what matters, not ours.
