America in Crisis

Hello @Jim,

Living these same truths would have the greater impact. Words are cheap, and easily spoken.

In Christ Jesus
Chris
He lived His biblical convictions before a broken world that needs Christ and defended Gods principles before college students for over 14 years when he was a student himself.

I'm guessing you never listened to him but are hearing, reading what has been said by others online.

Almost every statement of truth that Jesus made counters a lie that the Devil would like us to believe. As you meditate on the truth, the subtle lies of the enemy will become more obvious and you will be less likely to be tripped up by his schemes.

a real modern day martyr who stood up for his faith in Christ in a hostile world. A disciple who counted the cost and served his Savior and Lord well. You will be persecuted for My names sake. If they hated Me they will hate you. Charlie was well aware of the cost of serving his Lord. And it can be said: well done thou good and faithful servant enter into the presence of the Lord.
Hi @civic,

This was not martyrdom. For we do not know what the motivation was of the man who murdered him. It may have had little to do with the faith the victim held.

As far as ascribing praise, surely only God can make that judgment: For only He knew the victim's heart and motivation. Mourn for a fellow brother in Christ, yes, but leave all judgement regarding the victim or the perpetrator in God's hands.

Hello @civic,

I know nothing of him, only heard the account of his death, and saw the news report video. I just think emotion is clouding truth here.

Not true as I have listened to him for many years. He was first and foremost a devout Christian Apologist and Evangelist.

here is a good episode with Frank Turek the great christian apologist.

Truth and emotion can can happen at the same time. And far from being opposites, truth and emotion often work together to provide a complete understanding of the world.

The relationship is complex, with truth often informing and shaping emotion, while emotion helps determine what facts matter to us. However, it's crucial to distinguish an "emotional truth"—the validity of one's feelings—from objective reality.

Scripture portrays both human beings and God as having emotions. Human emotions and sentiments are of importance to the life of faith. Human feelings can be positive or negative and are subject to change and misinterpretation.

Emotional reasoning: This is a cognitive distortion where a person believes something is true because they feel it to be true, regardless of evidence. This can lead to skewed judgment and distorted beliefs if one is not aware of the distinction between feelings and facts.

There exists among Christian's worldwide a large group that might be termed ‘progressive Christian's oriented toward social transformation. The progressive groups often understand social engagement as a direct mandate from God, exemplified in the Scriptures, and a normative element of the Christian life. In some cases a highly activist, even revolutionary attitude against the status quo. This aspect demands closer examination before the motivation for and character of social engagement among Christian's can be identified more clearly.

The most glaring is Postmodernism'

Postmodernism is widely accepted by the pacesetters in our colleges and universities. Academicians in growing numbers are rejecting modernism and embracing postmodernism. These are the people whose thoughts and ideas eventually trickle down to the average person on the street, shaping and reshaping worldviews on religion, law, politics, morality, education, and practically everything else.

Some think that postmodernists are academics or activists ‘out there’ somewhere, we need to note that today we are fast becoming a postmodern culture. Our culture widely accepts the basic tenants of postmodernism.”
Unless Christians formulate a compelling and aggressive apologetics to postmodernism, I see major social changes far more influential and dangerous in terms of their impact on Christianity than the results of the Darwinian revolution in the nineteenth century have already been.

Here is a summary of Postmodernism:
Reality is in the mind of the beholder. Reality is what’s real to me, and I construct my own reality in my mind.
People are not able to think independently because they are defined—“scripted,” molded—by their culture.
We cannot judge things in another culture or in another person’s life, because our reality may be different from theirs. There is no possibility of “transculture objectivity.”
We are moving in the direction of progress, but are arrogantly dominating nature and threatening our future.
Nothing is ever proven, either by science, history, or any other discipline.
Postmodernism is found in Genesis chapter 3

Could you explain that a bit?

For me, the crux of postmodernism is that there is no such thing as absolute truth.
I think postmodernism as a worldview that reflects Satan’s mind, in particular the adversary’s attitude toward free will and the value of the individual. It's striate from the father of lies.

Lying is seen as his fundamental characteristic and primary weapon against humanity.

Awesome 👏

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

Postmodernism is characteristic both of fascism and communism – the far right and far left. The individual is insignificant; the state is supreme.

From the very outset, it has been Satan’s purpose to corrupt and destroy mankind as a means of attacking God. Lies are a primary tool in the adversary’s arsenal. We see this as clearly demonstrated today as it was in the Garden of Eden.

When good and evil are indistinguishable, there are no limits placed on evil. There are those today who would defend murder, claiming it somehow benefits our society as we see today in the aftermath of so many tragedies.

@Jim

@Amy and @Scott gave a superb exposure of that which began in the Garden and has grown into a monstrous black hole.

Truth and lies are incompatible with each other, therefore whenever Truth rises to expose the darkness of a lie(s) it will initiate a battle and battle lines will be drawn.
However, most people do not know where the line has been drawn, which is the strength of the darkness covering the people.

JESUS points out the power of deceptive reasoning = Matt 6:23
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Objective truths are true for all people, whether or not anyone accepts them as true or talks about them as such. Their status as being true (that is, corresponding with how things are in reality) is independent of our knowing them to be true. For example, 2+2=4 is objectively true in that its truth value is independent of anyone’s believing it or not. Similarly, murder is wrong even if someone happens to say otherwise.

let God be found true, but every man a liar’ Romans 3:4

God is to be recognized as “true” (truthful) no matter how many fallible and rebellious men disagree with him, dispute him, or viciously oppose him. His integrity is everlastingly stable, no matter how prejudiced a view that men may hold regarding him. The statement is an idiomatic affirmation that Jehovah remains right if any man, indeed if all men, were to contest him.

Just look at the claims of modern science, especially those of atheistic evolution, society and academia have marginalized Christian truth claims as being just opinions. They are seen as nonscientific and therefore not on the same par as scientific claims.

Take the big bang theory.

The big bang is a naturalistic story about the origin and development of the universe (e.g. a cosmology), beginning with a “singularity” when all mass, energy, and space was contained in a much smaller volume than the universe today. It is riddled with problems, supported by numerous unobserved assumptions, and, most importantly, contradicts the biblical teaching of creation.
