Baptism is a "water cult theology"?
Not to Jesus it wasn't.
Not to Mark.
Not to Peter it wasn't:
Acts 2:38
38And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Peter said we are to
REPENT
and
BE BAPTIZED
People that are under God's wrath are those who DO NOT OBEY.
Just like John 3:36 states....
YOUR verse:
John 3:36
36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
And if you want to change the word OBEY to BELIEVE in part b...
go right ahead...because in Greek DISBELIEVE and DISOBEY are the same.
Your scripture:
Acts 8:34-38
34 The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of someone else?"
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him.
36 As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?"
37 [And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."]
38 And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.
The Eunich believed. Verse 37
Philip baptized the eunich.
Philip BAPTIZED the eunich.
After a person believes,,,,the NT teaches that the person should be baptized.
Yes,,,,first one believes in God.
Then he is baptized, as Jesus commanded.
I wouldn't say baptism is symbolic....
the old man IS crucified...
the Holy Spirit indwells the person baptized.
Matthew 3:11
11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Agreed.
You're of the group that does not believe in obeying the NT teachings.
The NT teaches that we are to be baptized.
OF COURSE, it's after salvation.
What?
You mean Jesus had less authority from heaven?
Sorry, I don't understand your point.
Oh. So you follow ONLY PAUL.
So Jesus and the other writers are of no importance?
Here is what Paul said about baptism:
1 Corinthians 12:13
13For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
Romans 6:4
4We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Galatians 3:27
27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
1. We need to be baptized into one body.
2. We die with Christ in baptism...so we could walk in the newness of life.
3. When we are baptized,,,we put on Christ.
Looks like Paul believed baptism to be important.
Do you believe that Jesus SHOULD HAVE mentioned BAPTISM every time He spoke?
This is nonsense Behold, and I won't say more on it.
One Statement by Him should be sufficient.
Again,,,you're not reading the NT.
The NT states we are to be baptized.
Many verse given above and more can be added.
Here's what I posted that does not make sense to you...I'll try again:
"Never said anything to the contrary.
YOU have stated, in your "story", that a person can be baptized by baptism alone.
THAT is as bad as teaching FAITH ALONE."
You're right...makes no sense.
Here's what I meant:
Your theory sounds as if some think they could be saved by baptism ALONE.
This is just as bad as those that believe they can be saved by faith ALONE.
There is NO ALONE in the NT.
Baptism ALONE does not save.
faith ALONE does not save.
Behold....not every single command is going to be given every single time.
Did Jesus repeat FEED THE HUNGRY at every verse in the NT where He spoke?
No.
But it's still a command.
So you mean that Paul was NOT an Apostle?
He received different instructions from the other Apostles?
But he was martyred for teaching the same "religion".
Got it.
Paul was teaching something different from everyone else.
Maybe that's why he got called down to Jerusalem for a meeting??
This is nonsense Behold, and I think you're too intelligent to believe this nonsense.
I don't know why you're posting this.
Try this:
Try putting together ALL THE DOCTRINE stated in the NT and you'll have a good grasp of Christianity.
STOP cutting it up into little pieces.
Agreed. All the different versions are not necessary.
You are about to bash not only the CC that believes in baptism...
but also Protestant denominations that believe in baptism.
Baptism has always been part of the church.
Why all these statements about the CC?
I t hought we were discussing baptism.
But the church IS BUILT on Peter.
Sorry if that intimidates you.
It's plain history.
So?
According to you, the above should state plainly that we DO NOT REQUIRE baptism.
As should every paragraph out of his mouth.
But it does not.
Guess the writer forgot to mention it, once again.
Agreed.
Eat, drink and be merry.
I agree that God has different ways.
Not everyone that is saved has heard the gospel.
It's not up to the priest Behold.
It's up to THE PERSON.
It's the desire of the heart.
You've become very legalistic.
If we don't follow YOUR procedure 100%...
we cannot possibly be saved...is this the new you?
Then this is what you should be teaching.
Which is what Jesus taught.
FAITH ONLY is a calvinist teaching that never existed in the church from day one.
Placing specific requirements on salvation is not being LOVING.
Here's what is needed to be saved:
1. Believe in God.
2. Obey Him.
Anything beyond that is legalism.
Maybe Jesus preached to them.....and we don't know what He said.....
But they were already there waiting for the gates of heaven to open.
They were already there....
