Well-known member
I belong to a Non Denominational Church and here is our statement of faith.

The Authority Of The Bible

II Timothy 3:16 - 17; II Peter 1:19 - 21

We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are a complete and final revelation from God, without error in the original autographs, and sufficient in themselves as our only rule of faith and practice.

The Triunity Of God

Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14

We believe that God manifests Himself in three distinct and separate Persons, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each of Whom is God and to be honored and worshipped as God.

The Person And Work Of Jesus Christ

Matthew 1:23; John 1:1, 14, 29; John 3:16; I Corinthians 15:3, 4, 12 - 19; Hebrews 4:15; I John 2:1 - 2; Acts 1:9 - 11

We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, sinless, crucified for our sins, resurrected from the dead, ascended to heaven, and coming back again to establish His Kingdom on earth.

The Ministry Of The Holy Spirit

John 3:5; John 14:16 - 17; John 16:7 - 13; Romans 8:14; I Corinthians 6:11, 19; I Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 5:16 - 17; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18 - 21

We believe the Holy Spirit is God, convicting the world, causing spiritual birth, baptizing all believers into one body in Christ, indwelling, sealing, sanctifying, guiding, and teaching every believer, as well as filling and controlling those who walk in obedience to God and His Word.

The Creation And Fall Of Man

Genesis 1:26 - 28; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 3:1 - 24; Romans 3:23 Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:3

We believe that man was created by God in His own image, and not the product of evolution or animal ancestry; that man fell into sin by personal disobedience to the revealed will of God, and that all men and women are sinful in nature and practice, and unable to save themselves.

The Salvation Of Man

John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:24; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9 - 10; Ephesians 2:8 - 10; Titus 3:5; I Peter 1:18 - 19, 22 - 25; I John 5:11 - 13

We believe that salvation from sin, death, and hell is the free gift of God's grace to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and that every believer has eternal life and complete security in the finished work of Jesus Christ when He died on the cross for our sins, and arose from the dead, thus guaranteeing our own resurrection and eternal life.

The Eternal Consequences Of The Gospel

Matthew 25:46; John 3:16; John 5:24; John 10:28 - 29; Romans 9:22 - 24; Jude 23 - 24; II Corinthians 5:8; I Thessalonians 1:9 - 10; I Thessalonians 4:13 - 18; II Thessalonians 1:7 - 10; Revelations 20:11 - 15

We believe in the eternal life of all believers in a new heaven and a new earth, and that upon physical death, they go immediately to be with Christ in heaven awaiting their future bodily resurrection at the second coming of Christ. We believe in the resurrection of all unbelievers to stand before the Great White Throne Judgment of God from which they will be cast into eternal fire and everlasting punishment.

The Church Of Jesus Christ

Matthew 16:18; Matthew 28:19 - 20; John 13:1 - 17; Acts 2:41 - 47; I Corinthians 11:17 - 34; I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22 - 23; Colossians 1:18

We believe that all believers, from the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 until the return of Jesus Christ, are members of the Church, the body of Christ; and that the visible manifestation on earth is local churches where believers assemble for teaching, fellowship, prayer, and observance of Christ's commands regarding baptism and communion. We believe in water baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and in remembering the night our Lord was with His disciples in the Upper Room by observing the bread and the cup.

The Great Commission

Matthew 9:36 - 38; Matthew 28:19 - 20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47 - 48; Acts 1:8; Acts 8:1, 4; Romans 10:13 - 15; I Corinthians 9:13 - 14

We believe that our Lord commanded us to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations, and that every believer is to be a witness for Jesus Christ, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit; and that we are responsible to pray for, support, and send missionaries into all the world.

Section 2

Statement of Biblical Positions

The Existence of Angels

Isaiah 14:13-14; Ezekiel 28:13-17; Matthew 12:24-26; John 8:44; 12:31- 32; II Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:1-3; 6:12-18; Revelation 12:9-10; 20:10

We believe that all angels, including Satan, were created by God, and that Satan, through pride and sinful ambition, rebelled against God, becoming the great adversary of God and His people. These spirit beings possess supernatural powers, but are limited by the permissive will of God. Satan, as leader of evil angels (demons) was defeated and judged at the cross of Jesus Christ, and his final destiny is everlasting punishment in the lake of fire (hell).

Marriage

Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, Ephesians 5:31-33

Marriage has been ordained by God. River Oak Grace Community Church defines "marriage" as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. A civil government's sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of "marriage" found in these Articles.

Human Sexuality

Hebrews 13:4, I Thessalonians 4:3-8, I Corinthians 6:9-11, Romans 1:24-28, Ephesians 5:3-5, I Peter 4:3,4, Colossians 3:5

Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage (referred to in the New Testament as "porneia") including but not limited to, adultery, premarital sex, homosexuality, and pedophilia, are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church. Further, lascivious conduct, transgender behavior, and the creation and/or distribution and/or viewing of pornography, are incompatible with the biblical witness.

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of River Oak Grace Community Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Elders in concert with our Senior Pastor is River Oak Grace Community Church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application

I also am a member of a non-denominational church. Thanks for this thread I'm so glad that I read my church's statement of faith today. I like the way it puts everything into focus. Here's our statement of faith.

GOD

1. We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory.

THE BIBLE

2. We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

THE HUMAN CONDITION

3. We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed.

JESUS CHRIST

4. We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus-Israel’s promised Messiah-was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

THE WORK OF CHRIST

5. We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

6. We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.

THE CHURCH

7. We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

CHRISTIAN LIVING

8. We believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.

CHRIST’S RETURN

9. We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission.

RESPONSE AND ETERNAL DESTINY

10. We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth, to the praise of His glorious grace.

Amen !

I'm independent Baptist, but because each church that calls themselves this are completely independent of each other, they can be called non denominational in the sense of no central authority mother church governing what each church can do.

Some non denominational churches have the same, or close to the same, statement of faith as ours.

The thing about nondenominational churches is they can have the same statement of faith as a denominational church.

I guess the difference must be the autonomy of a nondenominational church.. which is what independent Baptist churches also have.

I'm also a member of a church that's non-denominational. I have been a member for 12 years and during that time we have planted six new churches. One of the associate pastors decided to start a church that's not connected to the main church. He felt called to start a more charismatic church. But I thought what was really outstanding about it was the main church continued to pay his wage for a year. And he's doing great the churches grown over the last two years. Glory to God!

I'm curious, did either of you have to sign something or express somehow you agreed with their statement of faith?

Also it's good to be aware in general that a lot of non-denoms actually came from and accord with certain denoms they split from.

I think that only happens when and if you become a member.

No I didn’t but I’ve been there since 98. I’m kind of grandfathered in so to speak. I’m still a leader in the Thursday morning Mens discipleship group, Saturday morning smaller group at my house with one of the elders and a Tuesday evening mixed couples home group. My wife was on staff in children ministry for several years and my daughter was afterwards. She married a man there who became an associate pastor and they are now missionaries in Ecuador and just started a church there.

Now here is the kicker. My wife works Sundays so we go to a different non denominational church on Saturday nights. I attend their Tuesday morning Mens discipleship group. Both churches are completely fine with this too.

Sounds like you getting fed the word and sharing the word. A real living example of what the Bible says.

I would find out what a person teaches before I said something like that.

There's a lot of false doctrines in the church.
Not in my church thats for sure. :)

We are all teachable in our church and accept correction. :)

That is biblical.

We know what the essentials are and what the non essentials are.

For example tulip and psa are NON ESSENTIALS to salvation.

Those who say otherwise are promoting a false gospel.

We have calvinists in our church and they don't get away with that false claim. And they will not say its essential.

They don't hide behind an internet forum or keyboard and are held accountable.

hope this helps !!!

BTW I was a "calvinist" in that same church since 1998 and I'm still there so everyone there knows my testimony and how I left calvinism. I never pushed in there either since I was never a calvinist who claimed tulip and psa was the gospel because I knew they were not the gospel. They both are non essentials to ones salvation and are secondary, not primary doctrines.

hope this helps !!!

Oh wait rule 2 "no talking about other members" civic who?
lol you are hilarious brother and I have enjoyed our many many phone conversations we have had over the years and facetimes too. :)

Without you there is no BAM- thank you brother for coming along side and for all you do for us here. You are appreciated more than you know my friend. :)

Very clear and succinct. I also know that the Pre-Conception Existence theology I favour is NOT gospel and is not necessary to redemption nor sanctification though it has helped me immensely...

but I wonder:

The Authority Of The Bible

II Timothy 3:16 - 17; II Peter 1:19 - 21

We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are a complete and final revelation from God,
If the 66 books are the complete and final revelation from GOD, then what should we think about Daniel

Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

From 12:9 we can see that the disclosing or unsealing of the angel's words (12:7) will not happen until the time of the end.

Therefore, can we not say with assurance that this verse bears witness that there will be an unsealing, disclosing or revealing at the time of the end??

Therefore may I once again suggest that, in the end times, we will be given a new understanding, that is, a revealing of that which has been sealed previously.

The Triunity Of God

Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14

We believe that God manifests Himself in three distinct and separate Persons, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each of Whom is God and to be honored and worshipped as God.
The word manifest can be accepted to say that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not eternal in themselves but are manifest or brought into being by the will of GOD periodically, which I am pretty sure is not meant.

That is why I have settled upon the description of the Persons of GOD as three individual unique and separate PERSONS who all have and share the attributes that make a person divine and these divine attributes form a unity of ONE GOD, not three separate Gods.
